Notes:

For Sapphic Ahsoka Tano Week
Day 6 - Outcast
Prompt: rarepairs

Yup, you know I'm just farming that 'unrequited love' box from the creator bingo.

Work Text:

“Why don’t you name my bike while you’re at it?”

Trace saw the graceful togruta jump off her ship, her soft-looking appendages wobbling when she landed. That soft laugh of hers when she had heard the name of her ship still dangled in her ears. “I did. Trash. Its name is Trash.” She jumped off after her with a little less grace and gave mental thanks that the other girl was looking at her speeder.

“Very funny.” Ahsoka scoffed at her banter before leaning into the pile of junk she claimed as her vehicle.

She rounded the table along the opposite side where the newcomer was working. The conversation she had with her sister last night interrupting her stream of thoughts.

“And how long is this ‘Ahsoka’ gonna stick around, huh? Why did you invite her anyway?”

It was very clear to Trace that Rafa was not very comfortable with Ahsoka around after the mess with the binary load lifters.

“She crashed on our platform! I had to help her!”

“Oh, come on, Trace, don’t pick up a random girl just because you like her.”

“That’s not it!” That wasn’t something she would admit just like that, at least. “Besides, she’s very useful.”

Truth was Trace mind had replayed already around 52308 times the face of relief of Ahsoka when she climbed that damned droid on the verge of the coruscanti abyss. Although she could feel it was only because of the goodness in her. Trace could see it in the formality of Ahsoka’s tone when she spoke to her. She was not interested. Not like Trace was, at least.

“So… Once you’re done, where are you headed?” She rounded the working bench along the opposite side where Ahsoka stood and tried to imprint as much casualty to her tone as she could while leaning on the bench.

“I don’t know. This is all new to me.”

“That’s why should stick around.” She turned her back to Ahsoka so the girl couldn’t see the emotion in her face. Hope. Although Trace was pretty sure she failed at hiding it in her voice. Not knowing what to do with her hands, she started fidgeting with some random tool she didn't even looked at.

“I figured I’d be on my own for a bit.” Ahsoka almost sounded a bit apologetic.

“Yeah, that doesn’t seem like the best idea.” She slightly shrugged before turning to Ahsoka. “I mean, you crashed here on that piece of junk. What if you didn’t rash on my landing platform? Things could’ve gotten messy for you.”

Trace displayed her best smuggler smile. The one she gave to pretty girls. It usually worked, but Ahsoka looked like the weight of all 1312 levels above them had fallen right on her shoulders when she spoke.

“Believe me, things couldn’t be a bigger mess for me than they already are.”

“So you’ll stay a little while longer, at least.” She insisted again, her hands stretched out in an inviting gesture as she came a bit closer to Ahsoka, whom didn’t look very convinced. “That way we can test the Silver Angel.”

With her hands on her hips, Trace waited for an answer with hopeful eyes.

Come on, Ahsoka… Stay a bit longer, please.

The young togruta sighed. “All right, as long as Rafa doesn’t mind.”

A triumphant smile sprouted in her lips.

Yeah, Rafa was right. Trace liked having Ahsoka around not only because of her useful abilities. She also knew that it was completely one-sided. But that didn’t mean the brunette couldn’t enjoy Ahsoka’s company anyway.

And sight.

“’As long as Rafa doesn’t mind’ what?”
