A Piece Of Art (A Marcy Wu & Reader Mini Story)

Summary:

Marcy Wu found a subject to draw as an assignment for art class.

And that subject is you!

Notes:

This is my first ever fanfic where the story stars you (as the reader). Enjoy! 😄

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It is a nice sunny day, and you are at a playground without your parents (because 1, you are old enough to go places by yourself and 2, you WANTED to be at a playground alone to get some fresh air).

There was nothing wrong in your household; you just felt bored. You find yourself going to the swings and pumping your feet up in the air, the swings creaking in the process.

You see and hear a bunch of kids and tweens laughing and  taking turns sliding down a squeaking slide as you swing on your swings.

But then, you also see a girl with olive colored skin and short black hair sitting alone in a bench.

She has a pencil in one hand and a sketch pad on the other, but it seems like she's having trouble coming up with ideas.

You think to yourself that you should help her, maybe even keep her company. And so you did by getting off the swings and walking up to her.

You catch her attention when you ask if you can sit with her. "Oh! Of course you can. I'm more than happy to have some company." The girl says to you with a smile.

As you sit down, you ask the girl her name after you tell her yours.

"My name is Marcy. Nice to meet you!"  The girl answered as you shake hands with her (with Marcy placing the pencil on her lap beforehand).

You glance at Marcy's sketchpad, feeling curious about her art style, to which the latter happily shows you her drawings she made so far.

You see an astounding variety of styles in her drawings, ranging from being realistic to going for an anime look.

And every single drawing is perfectly detailed. "Aww, thanks! I'm glad you like my drawings." Marcy says after you compliment her and her artwork.

You then ask Marcy why she looked stumped eariler when it comes to drawing.

"Well, it's because my art teacher gave me an assignment that involves using perspective, lighting and shadows." Marcy starts to say.

"He said we should draw what we see in front of us while we combine the 3 art techniques. I'm trying to figure out what to draw in front of me at the playground, but I can't find the right subject because they either move around too much or they have too little details for me to draw."

You look at Marcy with concern as she sighs sadly, clearly having artist's block. But suddenly, you have an idea.

You tell Marcy that you can be the subject for her to draw, which makes Marcy look at you with surprise. "You.. You'll do that for me?" Marcy asks.

You nod in response, to which Marcy starts giggling in delight and thanks you for volunteering.

"Ok, I just need you to stay still for this. And be sure to smile, if you want." Marcy says as she picks up her pencil from her lap and lifts her sketchpad upward.

You nod again, understanding what you need to do. You face Marcy as you smile, trying to be as still as possible.

The light scratching sounds coming from the pencil as it touches the paper reaches your ears as you stay in your place.

There's also the sounds of chirping birds flying past the playground too. "Just a bit more touches. I'll be done soon." Marcy says in a soft voice, still concentrating on her drawing.

After a few hours, Marcy is finished with her assignment. She seems proud with her work too. "Take a look! Hope you like it." Marcy says as she shows you her completed drawing.

You instantly become amazed at how she captured every detail about yourself perfectly.

The amount of perspective, lighting and shadows are nicely balanced. You tell Marcy that you love the drawing, which makes her happy.

Suddenly, she starts taking out her phone, for she recieved a text from her parents to come home for dinner.

"Oh, wow! Time flies fast when you're busy doing part of your homework." Marcy laughs as she puts away her pencil and sketchpad in her backpack, preparing to go home.

You suggest walking home with her, if she wants to. "I'd like that. I don't have that much friends in Massachusetts, so it's nice that you are accompanying me."

You smile at what Marcy said and the two of you start walking together, laughing and chatting all the way.

After a couple of streets, you start to part ways, for your house in is a different direction.

"It was nice talking to you. Hope to see you around!" Marcy says, waving goodbye as she leaves.

As you watch her walk away, you couldn't help but smile about the fact that you made a new friend all in one day. After that, it was time for you to walk back home.
