the importance of communication

Summary:

Takeru has always considered himself to be pretty open and approachable. This recent development with Iori-kun, however, has him reconsidering the impression he has of himself.

Notes:

I wrote this as a one-shot but decided to split it up when uploading it because I felt it would present better that way.

Chapter 1: The Phone Call

Chapter Text

When Takeru gets a call from his brother to let him know Iori-kun had come to him to inquire about Takeru's past, his first thought is that instead of going to all that trouble, Iori-kun could have just gone to him directly .

This is followed by a second thought of how that kind of consideration is just like Iori-kun.

His third thought is the realization that Iori-kun had asked him about his feelings regarding the powers of darkness, after HolyAngemon's fight with BlackWarGreymon and the loss of another Holy Stone. Iori-kun had asked him why he hated the powers of darkness so much, and Takeru had answered him: it wasn't the powers of darkness itself he hated.

Iori-kun hadn’t appeared to be satisfied, so Takeru had considered elaborating — that it was the abuse of that power to bring about destruction and devastation, to ruin lives, that he hated. But then Daisuke-kun called out from across the bridge, making the two realize they had been holding up the others. The conversation was left unfinished and Iori-kun, it seems, wanting.

This leads to Takeru's fourth thought: wondering if that's what encouraged Iori-kun to seek his brother for answers instead; if that lack of elaboration on Takeru's part had been mistaken for evasiveness. It certainly hadn't been his intention. He hadn't even crossed his mind that it could have been taken as such until now. Takeru's always considered himself to be pretty open and approachable. This recent development with Iori-kun, however, has him reconsidering the impression he has of himself.

A resolution is his final thought that night.
