Chapter Text
Waking up, eating, chores, classes, and reading
That was the daily life Sirin was used to in the Orphanage. Ever since she had found herself here, ten years ago. She was still unsure of how she got here, but she was content with her life, at least as content as she could be. She was happy to be here, with people who seemed to care about her, not like her old home. She was content to live out her life here, and was looking forward to seeing what this little town had to offer.
She pondered on this while doing her chores, zoning out, until someone lightly touched her shoulder.
“Sirin, are you okay?” a concerned Bella, Sirin’s best friend, asked her.
“I’m fine, just zoning out, thinking about alternative endings to the book I just finished!” Sirin Hastily said. Bella had been one of the kids to make it out of their old home, and neither ever wanted to have to relive what had happened there.
“Ok.” Bella said, not fully masking her concern. “If you need anything, I’ll be in our room! Come in whenever!”
“Thanks Bella, I appreciate it!” She really did, Bella, despite having gone through just as terrible experiences as Sirin had, still tried to comfort her. Their shared experiences had built an inseparable bond between the two, and nothing would ever separate them again. Despite how annoying the teachers sometimes found it, they could see how close the two were and never tried to separate them, instead letting them be together as much as they could, and they were better for it.
----------
That Night had not been Pleasant for Bella, she had woken up screaming shortly after midnight, but luckily she had been screaming into her pillow, meaning the sound hadn’t escaped the room. However, the room had one other Occupant, who had happened to be awake at the time after getting hooked on a new book, at the sound, Sirin, recognizing it instantly, dropped the book and hugged Bella, knowing full well the reason behind the scream. They both had occasional nightmares of that place, and they both did whatever they could for each other after the Nightmares.
After a few minutes, Bella stopped crying, seeing this, Sirin gently mumbled to her, “Do you think you are okay now? It's fine if you're not, I just want to make sure you are alright.”
Bella Nodded then gently thanked the girl. “Thank you for always being here for me Sirin, you have no Idea what this means for me. I-”
“Stop thanking me for this, you do it for me, I do it for you, its something we both need and should get, so I don't want you thanking me for it, just accept it!” Sirin whispered furiously at Bella.
Bella, hearing this, just laughed, then hugged Sirin tighter. “I’m glad we have each other, and nothing will ever be able to separate us.”
----------
Bella and Sirin woke up late, as they usually do on nights like these. Sirin almost always arose late, seeing as she had a habit of getting engrossed in books constantly, but Bella was an early riser usually, so these nightmares threw a wrench in her plans. They both woke up at about twelve in the afternoon, and found breakfast almost finished, with only one or two stragglers left. They quickly grabbed a plate and went to sit down at an empty table. While sitting there, they discussed Sirin’s most recent book.
“- so I think that overall, the story itself was a bit bland, but the characters were well written!” Sirin chatted Enthusiastically about the world. Always eager to discuss the worlds of the books she reads.
“How was the setting? You said the story was a bit mediocre, but was the setting interesting?” Bella Inquired curiously as they finished eating. Although not being nearly the reader that Sirin was, Bella still loved stories, especially ones with a happy ending.
“It was…unique, to say the least.” Sirin Mused as they both stood up and started walking to their class. “There were many interesting aspects to the setting, but it had so many plotholes I sometimes got confused on a lot of the details, however they had this one detailed city I’d love to tell you about lat-”
Sirin stopped talking and moving. So did Bella, inside the courtyard of the Orphanage stood something that neither of them had either hoped to see again or thought they would see again, especially in this remote village. They saw, to their shock and concern, a woman dressed in white armor. They both recognized that armor. She was a Herrscher, one of the Royal Knights.
Immediately they both thought back to twelve years ago, back to what they suffered under the former Herrscher of Binding, who had forced them to work as maids day in and out, barely giving them time to rest. They had barely been able to escape with their lives when the Herrscher of Flamescion had come to defeat the Previous Herrscherof binding, and the woman they saw in front of them was none other than Kiana Kaslana, the Herrscher of Flamescion.
However, the Herrscher seemed to be looking for something, then she laid her eyes on Sirin. She called out to her. “You there, would you please come out, I don't mean you any harm I assure you, Although, it would be best if you came out alone!” she seemed cheerful, but my attitude didn't change. Sirin quickly told Bella to get out of the way before heading into the open courtyard, but as she made my way onto the field the girl followed Sirin, refusing to leave her side.
“I see you have chosen to follow her, no matter, the result will be the same either way.” Then, without warning, she drew her massive greatsword and sent a pillar of flame at them without thinking, Sirin put herself on top of Bella, trying again to protect her. She expected the flames to hit her, but as she turned around, she saw the portal that had been opened above. Not having time to react, however, she prepared for the Herrscher’s second strike but out of nowhere a Lance appeared behind her and propelled itself straight at the Herrscher, but she caught it with ease. She didn't drop the Lance however, instead putting it into a hilt after sheathing her sword. With a sudden realization.
The powers Sirin had just used were the trademark of the second Herrscher, the Herrscher of the Void, who was, based on the cycle, believed to be the next Monarch.
As she was in awe at this fact, the white haired Knight walked up to her and offered her hand, saying five words to the girl as she did so.
“Shall we go, Your Majesty?”
