Ash groaned as he looked at the price tags of the binders. Why did he have to pay for things? He was a god, he was above human currency! This would be much easier if Eve hadn’t told him that if he didn’t pay this time that he wouldn’t be allowed to borrow her eyeliner anymore.
Cupid looked over his shoulder and at the price tag that seemed to be making Ash frustrated, “Yeesh.. $30? For that piece of fabric?” He said, taking the binder and putting it back on the hanger, “I don’t get why you keep buying these”
“Because they make me feel comfortable, dumbass” Ash responded, picking up a different binder that was still the same price, “Why’d you tag along if you don’t plan on helping me pay?”
“Eve agreed to co-host on the next episode of my show if I made sure you didn’t do anything bad” He shrugged, going to a nearby Jojo Siwa shelf and looking at the heart shaped bow.
“Of course she did,” He said with a sigh. He would’ve preferred if it was someone he could at least tolerate, or someone who would’ve been more helpful.
The silence that followed was very nice for Ash to hear. Not having to listen to Cupid’s stupid high pitched voice was a nice thing for him. He continued looking through the different binders and price tags, growing increasingly frustrated when he saw that they were all either too expensive or poorly made.
He was almost at his breaking point when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to yell at Cupid before stopping, blinking as he tried to understand what he was holding.
Cupid held a white binder with pink hearts to his chest, smiling proudly.
“What is this?” Ash asked. It looked as amusing as it did sickening, there was no way he was going to buy that.
“Well, you keep complaining about how expensive these binders are, and this one’s only, like, $17!” He said happily, “It’s really cute too!”
Ash tilted his head, trying to see where Cupid could see anything cute in this monstrosity.
“..Ew” He said, slapping the binder out of his hands.
Cupid sighed, picking up the binder and putting it back on the shelf where he found it.
“Why even come here if you don’t like any of these binders? Why can’t you just use the one you have?” Cupid asks.
“They break, just like every other piece of clothing” He answered.
“Isn’t there a surgery you could get?”
“Well, yeah, but it’s really expensive”
“I could pay for it” Cupid said.
“No you can’t,” Ash replied, annoyed, “Sorry to burst your bubble princess but you can’t just talk your way into getting an expensive surgery for free”
The brunette sighed before reaching into his pocket and pulling out his wallet, “Well how much is it?”
“What-?” Ash said, “No! You’re not paying for it!” That would be embarrassing, letting another person pay for him.
“No, I insist!” He smiled, grabbing his card.
“You don’t even have enough money for it!” Ash forced Cupid’s hand back into his wallet, not wanting to see his credit card any longer since he wasn’t even going to be using it.
“Oh, you’d be surprised how much money Cupid’s Shot generates” He said, that stupid charismatic smile still on his face.
Cupid took Ash’s hands within his own and began walking him out of the store, “If you’re worried about owing me, don’t worry,” He said, “I’m more than willing to do this for you if it’ll make you happier”
Ash took a minute to process Cupid’s words, unsure of how to respond to him. The only thing he could muster up was a small, barely noticeable smile, honestly the most beautiful thing Cupid had seen in a while.
“Alright, I guess I can’t talk you out of it, can I?” He chuckled.
“Uh..” At first Cupid didn’t even know what to say, the only thing he could do was ask himself if he’d ever seen Ash smile before, “..Nope! You cannot!”
He didn’t even care about the money at this point, for all he cared, he’d give up anything in order to make Ash happy.
