Work Text:
jack was sitting quietly in the government meeting. It was his least favorite type of meeting… an economic meeting. He could take war threats and crises every day, but economics never failed to make his mind throb. Cost-benefit analysis… opportunity costs… factors of production… what? He sighed and rested his face in his palm. No subject made him feel stupid the way economics did.
“The opportunity cost of pausing the printing of money to stop inflation could be growth,” Senator Diaz said. jack’s head spun.
Xue, a nasty man who never failed to kick a man while he was down, picked up on jack’s discomfort like a shark smelling blood in the ocean.`
“Mr. President, which do you think is the most important factor of production? Land, labor, or the White House?” there was a sly smile on his face.
“Umm, well I would assume it is the White House,” jack said. Apparently this was the wrong answer and stifled laughter filled the room.
“What are you saying?” mocked the Xue. “The White House isn’t a factor of production. Did you even pay attention in senior year econ?”
Xue said softly into jack’s ear. “Don’t worry Mr. President, I can give you after class lessons if you know what I mean 😏😏😏😏”
“As the nasty man you are? Jack said with an uwu voice.
“Please keep your behavior appropriate when you are among us,” Diaz hissed to Xue. “It’s too early to be dealing with this.”
Senator Bloom yelled “AYOOOO WHAT’S GOING ON IN THIS CORNER?”
“Nothing you need to worry about”
“This is too sus,” Diaz whispered with a sob.
Xue continued to ignore all the criticism and continued to flirt with jack. “My my my our flavors are melting in my tongue”
jack whimpered at the flirtations and wished dearly that Kenny was here instead. And yet he thought that Xue would do because Kenny is on a business trip and wont be BACK for few days
jack was a little excited for the after school lessons because he thought that he would finally understand economics.
But when Xue showed up he got excited for a different reason.
Xue spoke quietly into jacks ear “im going to analyze that supply curve of yours 😏”
Diaz jolted awake. It was a nightmare. She felt like she would never be the same again. No matter how much she tried, she would never be able to forget the horrors that she had imagined that night. Or, day. It was still the meeting but before everything weird happened.
“I’m sorry Mr. Ramirez…” Jack whispered more to himself than anyone in the room. He had let the ghost of his econ teacher down.
Xue sighed in disappointment. “I’m going to go make a market supply schedule.”
“I’ll make the supply curve,” another person said.
“I’ll write the analysis.”
Soon everyone filed out and Jack was left alone and confused.
