It was raining outside. You always loved the rain, the way each raindrop makes a soft plop sound whenever it hit the ground.
So there you were, in the lounge of your manor, playing with cards, oblivious to the man behind you.
“Surprise!” Shouts the man.
You turn in surprise and see Malleus with a small lopsided cake in his hands.
“What’s all this about Mal?”
“Nothing special child of man, I was simply experimenting in the kitchen and this is the result.” He says while holding out the small cake.
“I would like for you to try it.”
You look at the cake, it’s covered in a layer of white frosting and has sprinkles scattered unevenly across the cake but nonetheless, it looks edible. You realize that Malleus has produced a fork and is holding it out for you. You take it and hesitantly take a bite of the cake. To your relief, it doesn’t cause some chemical change within your body and it actually tastes really good!
You look up at Malleus and say so. You see his eyes light up and his chest puff out ever so slightly as he soaks up the compliment.
You pay him no mind and finish the rest of the cake. When you’re done you put the dish and fork on the table and realize that Malleus has sat down next to you.
“Why’d you start cooking all of a sudden?” You ask
Apparently he wasn’t expecting you to ask him anything and responds hurriedly and a little embarrassed that he just wanted to broaden his horizon of skills and thought cooking couldn’t be too difficult.
You nod and say“well, maybe next time I can show you some of my favourite recipes and we could cook together.”
Malleus has a look of shock before looking excited.
“I would like that.”
