Work Text:
One brisk morning, as they sat in the parochial house, Ted and Dougal found themselves engrossed in a debate over the most effective way to bless holy water.
Ted, gesturing emphatically, proclaimed, "Dougal, it's crucial to maintain the proper sanctity when blessing holy water. It's not just a mere splash and dash!"
Dougal scratched his head, his expression as blank as ever. "But Ted, what if we accidentally bless the ducks in the pond? Would they become holy ducks?"
Before Ted could respond, a moment of inexplicable tenderness washed over him. He looked at Dougal, his heart swelling with an emotion he couldn't quite comprehend.
"You know, Dougal, despite your... unique perspectives on theology, there's something quite special about you."
Dougal beamed, oblivious to the gravity of Ted's words. "Aw, thanks, Ted! You're not too bad yourself, considering you're a priest and all."
With a mixture of uncertainty and determination, Ted leaned in and planted a kiss on Dougal's cheek, startling them both.
"I... uh... sorry, Dougal. I don't know what came over me."
Dougal's eyes widened in surprise, then twinkled with amusement. "Well, Ted, that was unexpected! But I suppose there's nothing wrong with a bit of priestly affection."
And so, amidst the chaos of Craggy Island, Ted and Dougal navigated their newfound feelings with a mixture of hilarity and awkwardness, proving that even in the most unconventional of circumstances, love finds a way to blossom.
