Sonic eagerly rips the calendar Tails has in his lab, today is April 1st, otherwise known as April Fools day. Sonic was practically jumping off the walls, as he heard Tails suddenly shout. Sonic turned with a smile as a bucket of water that he had carefully placed above Tails’ door had fallen and completely drenched the fox. Tails blinked as he looked at Sonic.
“April Fools!” Sonic shouted, bursting into laughter, Tails squeezed his tail to get the excess water out of it, before shaking his whole body to dry himself off.
“...Good morning Sonic.” Tails said, a bit peeved about the prank, but as soon as he had his morning cup of coffee, he quickly got over it, “So what pranks do you have planned this year?” Tails inquired, a bit excited.
Sonic gave Tails a very mischievous grin as he answered, “I’ve already set up everyone else’s pranks early this morning, sped over to Angel Island and put a cardboard cutout of Eggman and Rouge by the Master Emerald, then I ran over Egghead’s base and threw some eggs at it, and I filled Amy’s salt shaker with Sugar!”
Tails was surprised, then again Sonic WAS the fastest thing alive, so it made sense that he’d get them done early, “And I assume that’s not it?” Tails further questioned.
“Of course! You see, aside from them, I managed to prank everyone else, set up a bunch of fake jewels to throw off Rouge, and many broken Eggman Robots placed around a G.U.N. Facility that will likely cause Omega to go mad, but there’s ONE person I haven’t pranked today,” Sonic said, making Tails very curious.
“Who?” Tails asked, who could’ve Sonic possibly not pranked yet?
“Metal Sonic.” Sonic simply responded, “I saw him sitting at a park nearby, it’s like the guy’s BEGGING to be pranked, so! We’re going to go mess with him, you ready?”
Tails finished his coffee and put his cup in the sink, turning to Sonic with a smile, “Oh, I’m ready!”
Sonic grabbed Tails’ hand as they dashed off, heading off to go screw with Metal Sonic.

Amy’s morning went about as she expected, at first there was no sign of Sonic or any of his usual pranks he pulled on April Fools. She had hoped that maybe she was lucky and that he had forgotten to hit her house, which gave her time to prepare for the rest of the day, of course that didn’t last. She warmed up some leftovers, some stew that she had for dinner last night. She tasted it, and felt like it needed some more salt. She picked up her salt shaker and put some salt in it, however when she tasted it, she found it was way too sweet now.
Amy spat out the stew, and immediately knew what Sonic had done, she was a bit frustrated, but ate it anyway. It was a bit hard to stomach but she wouldn’t let the food go to waste.
She wrote down a little note, reminding herself that the salt shaker was filled with sugar and to empty it and fill it with Salt later.
Amy wasn’t going to let this ruin her day, she had plans. Today may be April fools, but there was one thing happening today that wasn’t a joke. Metal Sonic had been coming around and hanging out for some time now, eventually their feelings blossomed and Amy had asked him out on a date. It was mostly just to see how it would go. Of course she made the mistake of planning it on the legendary day of jokes. Hopefully he was actually at the park where they planned to meet, and didn’t view her asking him for a date as a joke.
She changed into her best outfit, it was probably a mistake in case Sonic came around to ruin her outfit, but if he did, she simply wouldn’t let it ruin her day. It was her nicest springtime dress with a simple but nice flower pattern.
With her spirits renewed and energy high, she skipped away, heading to the park.

Metal Sonic sat at the park in anticipation, he wasn’t aware of what today meant or the significance of it, so he was rather oblivious to the idea of April Fools’ and all the antics that usually occurred that day, particularly on Sonic’s end. Thankfully the doctor had no work for him, as he was preoccupied with something, he seemed angry and mumbled something about eggs everywhere.
Sonic and Tails hid behind a tree and looked at Metal from a distance, Sonic and Tails quietly laughed with each other as they filled up a water balloon. Sonic took aim, holding the water balloon high as he launched it right at Metal Sonic.
Metal Sonic looked around as he waited, his eyes darted to the ground as he saw something, a small little flower.
[Analyzing… Analysis Complete, Flower Identified: Peony]
Metal Sonic bent down and carefully plucked the Peony off the ground, analyzing it carefully, he felt something fly past him, just above him. He heard the sound of something popping and splashing. He looked up in confusion to see a man who had just gotten splashed by something and was soaking wet. He seemed steaming mad as he stopped off.
Tails was surprised that Metal Sonic ducked out of the way, “Do you think he knew?” Tails asked.
“What? There’s no way! Must’ve been a lucky coincidence, watch!” Sonic filled up another balloon and tossed it at Metal Sonic.
Metal Sonic got up and off the bench, still analyzing the peony, he looked away from it and saw Amy approaching, he began approaching her as something went flying just behind him, he turned and saw the same man who appeared even angrier, having just gotten splashed again it seems.
Sonic was equally surprised now, Metal Sonic had a very good sense of timing as he was able to evade both water balloons, Sonic looked over to see where Metal Sonic was going, only to see him with… Amy!?
“Hi Metal-” Amy began, but she quickly gasped as Metal Sonic held out a Peony towards her, it was beautiful! “Is this for me?”
Metal Sonic nodded, Amy took the Peony with delight, before giving him a hug, “Thank you!”
Metal Sonic had no clue how to react, so he simply returned the hug, Sonic looked on with disgust, “It’s April Fools and they’re getting romantic!?”
Tails laughed, Sonic got a smirk on his face, “Well I’ll prank that faker, date or no date!” Sonic said, as him and Tails snuck around, following as Amy and Metal Sonic headed off to somewhere else

Amy had this day all planned out, they headed to their first stop, a small little smoothie stand. Of course Metal Sonic could not drink any, but he didn’t seem to mind as he took a seat while Amy went to go order a drink.
It was Tails’ turn to prank, Sonic handed him a classic, a joybuzzer. Tails slipped it on and gave Sonic a grin. “Alright, I got this!” He said, as he confidently walked over to Metal Sonic.
Metal Sonic turned in surprise as he saw Tails approached him, he was an enemy, at least usually. But today, he wasn’t here to attack, but he would defend himself should Tails attack. He was concerned that he was here with Sonic and his friends, maybe suspecting him of something, he didn’t want to cut the date short, but Tails suddenly stopped in front of him.
“Hey Metal!” Tails said in a cheerful voice, “It’s been a while, odd to see you not causing chaos.” Tails was playing innocent, of course Metal couldn’t fully tell. Metal did feel like something was off at the very least, he wasn’t sure of what it was, his enemy was here acting casual…
“Is it your day off or something?” Tails questioned, trying to start up a light conversation. Metal simply nodded, Tails giving a smile. “Hey well, I’m just glad you’re not causing chaos.” Tails held out his hand awkwardly, Metal looked at him, rather confused.
“Oh uhm… Hi-Five!” Tails said, as he began moving his hand closer. Metal knew what that was, it was odd that he wanted one, but if it made him leave faster he’d gladly provide one.
Metal and Tails’ hands collided with each other. The Joybuzzer sparking, of course the intention was simply to give Metal a light shock, however it seemed the Joybuzzer had an adverse effect on him, it gave him a massive shock and Metal seemed to begin malfunctioning, Metal sped around due to an error.
Tails backed away and ran back towards Sonic, the two backing away to evade Metal’s path.
Amy waited in line, not noticing or hearing the chaos behind her. She was looking at all the smoothies on the menu, debating on when to get, when she suddenly heard shouting. She snapped to the person in front of her, a man was robbing the smoothie vendor, taking all the money the vendor had.
“Hey!” Amy shouted, as she pulled out her hammer, “Give the money back!”
The robber turned around and seemed to panic, “You won’t catch me!” He shouted as he began to run, however in that moment, Metal Sonic sped right into him, knocking him onto the ground and pinning him. Metal’s systems stopped glitching after a moment, he took a minute to get his bearings, noticing he was on top of someone. He was confused.
Suddenly, people began cheering for him, as Amy swiftly came over and knocked the thief out with her hammer, grabbing the stolen money and returning it to the vendor, “Thanks for the help Metal!” She gave him a smile.
He stood there for a moment, confused as he got up and off the stranger. Some police officers came by shortly and arrested the thief after receiving testimonies from Amy and the Vendor.
The vendor turned to Amy and Metal, giving the two a smile, “Thanks for that, please, allow me to repay you, smoothies on me!” she said, at first Amy tried to deny it, but the vendor was so persistent that eventually, Amy picked out a drink, she explained Metal couldn’t have one due to some sort of allergy.
Once she got her smoothie, Amy grabbed Metal’s hand as they began heading to their destination, “Alright! Next stop! You’ll like this place!”

Amy had her hands over Metal’s eyes, he was rather confused, “Alright, alright, no peeking!” Amy said as they kept walking. Sonic and Tails followed close behind, both pranks hadn’t worked out well, it ended with Metal ethier dodging the prank or benefitting from it. While it was good they stopped the robber and they were happy with that, it removed the satisfaction of the prank.
Amy took her hands off Metal’s eyes to show where they were, they were in a field full of flowers, Metal looked around, it was quite beautiful. Metal turned to Amy who was setting up a small picnic blanket on the field. “Do you like it?” She asked.
Metal nodded and gave her a thumbs up, Amy seemed happy as she looked around herself, “I always feel close to nature when I’m here! It’s a good way to reconnect with it, well… I know you’re a robot and all but I’m sure you can feel it too, right?” Amy asked, Metal gave her another nod, while he didn’t fully understand it the way organics could, he did enjoy it himself.
Sonic thought about his next prank, Tails was working on something, tinkering with a device, “...I got it!” Sonic said, as he pulled out a bag of fake bugs. He dashed around and quickly tossed one onto Metal’s sonic face.
Metal Sonic wasn’t afraid of bugs, but the one that basically just appeared on his face, he moved around rapidly to get the bug off his face, he eventually did, but fell into Amy. However before they hit the ground, he caught himself and wrapped his arm around Amy to stop her from falling.
Amy blushed, they were in quite the romantic position, “Oh Metal~ That was gutsy~” Amy said, giggling, she wasn’t expecting that move, Metal was even more confused.
Sonic rejoined Tails and just looked at the two, flabbergasted, how on earth did his attempt to scare Metal Sonic using fake bugs lead to the two getting into a romantic moment!?
Amy and Metal sat down on the picnic blanket, Amy eating some food that she had prepared, while Metal couldn’t join in eating, he could join in with enjoying the scenery. Amy and Metal held hands as they gazed upon the flowers, they were there for what felt like hours.
During that time Sonic attempted to throw another fake bug their way, but that backfired when Amy noticed it and slammed her hammer down on it. Metal turned to her in confusion, but Amy just laughed it off.
Eventually, Amy and Metal stood up, as Amy packed everything up and took Metal’s hand, “Alright, let’s head to our last stop!” Amy said, as she ran off with Metal again, Sonic looked over at Tails.
“What’re you working on buddy?” Sonic questioned, Tails looked at him with a bright smile.
“The final prank!” He cheerfully responded, “This’ll get them for sure!”
Sonic smiled, “That’s what I like to hear! Let’s go!” Sonic said, grabbing Tails as they ran off to follow them to their last stop.

Amy and Metal Sonic reached their last destination, it was a park, but not the same one they were at earlier, this one was overviewing a lake. The lake sparkled under the fading sunlight as the sun began to set, Metal Sonic watched in amazement, his eyes sparkled in the same way the water did.
Amy sat on a nearby bench and watched as well, “Sometimes, it’s nice to just wind back and enjoy the scenery, wouldn’t you say it’s nice to take a break? From the usual madness of our lives?”
Metal turned and nodded at Amy, for once, it was rather peaceful, no mad scientist barking orders into his ear. No fakers coming to fight him. It may only be for a moment, but he felt free here.
Tails flew up above the duo, holding onto Sonic, he looked down at him, “Alright Sonic, on my mark.”
Sonic gave him a grin and a thumbs up, grasping the device in his hand, it was none other than a glitter bomb.
Tails flew just in a specific direction to where the glitter bomb would mostly hit Metal Sonic, “NOW!”
Sonic tossed the glitter bomb down at full force, the bomb falling down right towards an unsuspecting Metal Sonic, who was merely admiring the water.
Metal Sonic reached his hand into the water, however this caused his hand to spark and spaz out, his hand suddenly hit the air at full force, at least, he initially thought he just hit the air. He felt his fist actually collide with… something?
Sonic and Tails were laughing at what was about to happen, when Tails suddenly noticed something coming towards them. “...Wait… is that…?”
The glitterbomb suddenly flew right back at them and exploded, colorful glitter and bright lights filling the night sky and Sonic and Tails were launched away.
Metal looked up in amazement, Amy doing the same, “Woah… what just…?” Amy was about to question, but she got lost in admiring the colorful explosion, she took Metal’s hand, as the two just admired it, the glitter falling down and covering the ground.
Amy looked at Metal with a happy smile, “Well… today was an amazing date, I thought something would go wrong but… that was better than I could’ve ever imagined.”
Metal looked back at her, he felt the same, nodding his head in agreement. He reached his hand out and grabbed some glitter, he playfully threw some at Amy. Amy was surprised, but she giggled, picking some glitter off the ground and throwing some at him.
The two would have fun, throwing glitter as the moon rose across the lake. The two spent the rest of the night together, playing at the lake and letting their worries fly away.

Sonic and Tails landed at the field from earlier, the two were absolutely coated in glitter. Sonic stood up and began wiping the glitter off of him, he pulled up Tails and did the same thing. Tails took a minute to get his bearings but he eventually did.
“Well that could’ve gone better…” Sonic said, as he sat back down.
“Yeah, honestly, I have no clue how but Metal Sonic managed to either avoid every prank or turn it into a good thing!” Tails said, he was rather surprised overall.
Sonic looked at Tails, “We’ll get him next time buddy.” He sighed as he laid down on the field, “At least this day can’t get any worse.”
“Hey!” An angry voice shouted, Sonic turned around to see… Knuckles, but it wasn’t just Knuckles. Rouge, Shadow, and Omega were all there, glaring at him.
“You sent me on a wild goose chase! I thought I was swimming in jewels but it was all cheap plastic!” Rouge shouted at Sonic, clearly mad.
“IMMENSE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED IN THE PURSUIT OF DESTROYING EGGMAN ROBOTS, WHILE I HAVE NO REGRETS, THE ROBOTS WERE ALREADY DESTROYED, YOU GAVE ME NO SATISFACTION FROM THE BULLETS I LAID INTO THEM.” Omega’s usually loud voice was even louder than usual.
Shadow was covered in paint, pink and blue, glaring at Sonic with a look that could kill. “And you thought it was funny to put a paint can over the door while I was showering!?”
Sonic and Tails backed up, “Oh boy… that’s not good.” Sonic began, when suddenly a wrecking ball landed right beside Sonic, turning around, they both saw an equally angry Eggman.
“HEDGEHOG! I SPENT ALL DAY CLEANING OUT THE EGGS YOU THREW AT MY LAB!” Eggman angrily shouted, glaring the hedgehog down.
Sonic looked over at Tails, “So, up for a run?” Tails nodded, as Sonic grabbed him and the two began running away, with the group following after him.
“SONIC!!!!” They shouted, as all of them chased them into the night.
