Work Text:
Violet crashes into the roof and pushes forward a couple concrete blocks before mentally opening her door, stepping into the Archive space. “XADEN I NEED YOU.”
“I’m on my way, where are you?” I can sense the panic in Xaden’s voice as I show him the last couple minutes. My memories replaying, and he sees Basgiath’s guards chasing me down, how I’m on top of the turret now, standing on the ledge.
“Just stay there-” Violet hears bodies slam against the makeshift barrier, the cinder blocks already moving slightly.
“Xaden…” Violet starts.
“Silver One…” Tairn’s deep voice echoes through Violet, the misery, regret, and fear blending together.
“NO. I WILL get there, just WAIT, wait a minute.” Violet feels the clouds whipping past him, and hears a crash as the doors fling off the hinges.
“STOP RIGHT THERE, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST VIOLET SORRENGAIL!” A guard bellows.
“Xaden… I love you… Tairn, I’m so so sorry….” Violet lets herself fall forward, and her memories replay piece by piece, as blue dragon comes into her peripheral as Violet feels herself plummet. He’s too far away. Tairn’s voice and Xaden’s voice intermingle and Violet can’t parcel which is which, the only thing she sees is the ground, 50 feet…
“Xaden… I have always loved you, and I am so so sorry that I said those awful things to you…”
“Anadarna, Tairn, thank you for choosing me… please… live on…” She closes her eyes as arrows pierce through her flesh, sticking out of her back, legs, and arms as she freefalls, shouting from above and in her head as a gust of wind pushes up for a moment, strong enough to slow her fall for just a few seconds, and she could swear she hears the words Live, Little Shadow… on the wind.
