Work Text:
Typically, people know Midoriya Izuku. He’s not saying that to be cocky or anything, it’s just a simple fact, something commonly known; people know Midoriya Izuku.
Typically.
That’s what married to a hero who shot up in the ranks immediately after becoming an official hero will do to you. His husband is already in the top 10 and hasn’t even been a hero for five years yet. It’s impressive; he’s impressive and being impressive means that people want to get to know you, they want to know every little detail about your life. Katsuki, Izuku’s beloved husband, is the most private guy ever. He enjoys the attention, he always has. What he doesn’t like, however, is people trying to pry into his personal life.
Izuku and Katsuki have, by no means, ever really been a “secret” per se. Some people argue that they were for a while but, for the most part, the consensus is that people know about Izuku. People have known about Izuku as long as people have known about Dynamight but as much as Katsuki enjoys the attention, Izuku doesn’t. That means the two of them don’t really shout their relationship from the rooftops.
So, they don’t often post pictures together and Katsuki doesn’t wear his ring on the job or during interviews for two reasons; To keep unwanted attention away and to be sure he doesn’t lose it during a fight with some villain. Izuku doesn’t show up to events with Katsuki very much - he only ever shows up if it’s confirmed that paparazzi will not be there. Izuku has small, private social media accounts where he posts random things for just his friends and family to see.
Now, that doesn’t mean they’re completely secret. They go out on dates without trying to hide and people will often notice them. Sometimes people even recognize Midoriya in public and, as flustered as it makes him, he can find it in him to enjoy it on occasion. There are many pictures floating around of the two of them and Katsuki has made an official statement about being in a relationship with a man, even saying who Izuku is.
They’ve never been ashamed of each other. Hell, being together since the end of middle school will do that to a couple. They’ve seen each other through everything, it’d be embarrassing to be ashamed of each other at this point.
They love each other and, so, in turn, they talk about each other. Most people who have looked into Katsuki’s personal life for more than five seconds know he’s married to a man; and those who have looked into it for more than ten know what his husband looks like and that his name is Midoriya Izuku.
They are private. Not secret.
Nevertheless, some people are still ignorant to the fact that their beloved Pro Hero Dynamight is in a relationship. Usually, it makes Izuku a little upset, even though he knows that it’s of his own doing and Katsuki would talk about Izuku constantly if he wanted him to. And sometimes, it does make Izuku wish he and Katsuki were more loud about their relationship.
This time, while he’s sitting in one of his new classes for the semester and overhears a group talking about how hot Dynamight is, he can’t help but just smile to himself at the opportunity.
The more he listens, the more Izuku realizes how much they seem to know about Katsuki. Meaning, he realizes that they definitely don’t know that Katsuki has a husband. So, when the professor tells them to get into groups for their first project of the semester, Izuku jumps at the opportunity immediately.
This could either end up really funny or it could end up burning in flames. Either way, Izuku wants a little more fun in his life and the opportunity just presented itself oh so perfectly.
He makes his way into the group successfully, seeing as they had one less person than they needed for the project. All he had to do was say that he didn’t know anybody else in the class and ask if he could join them. All four of them agreed to him joining their group almost immediately, they all seemed pretty sweet and very accepting.
During the first bit of working on the project, none of them brought up Dynamight. In fact, none of them brought up pro heroes at all. Izuku began to get a little discouraged, thinking that his plan wasn’t going to go anywhere.
Then, at the end of the class after they’ve gotten most of the planning for the project done, it happens.
One of the girls, Kimura Masako, brought him up. They had been sitting in silence for a few moments, all just working on their individual parts of the project that they divided up until Masako (the group had insisted that Izuku use given names with them, arguing that it would be much easier to keep track of since they all used given names with each other. Izuku, of course, told them they could use his given name as well) picks up her phone and her eyes widen. Then she says it, “Oh my god. Guys. Do you know about what Dynamight did earlier today?”
One of the other girls, Akamine Renho, gasps and grins, “Yeah! It was awesome. Did you know that that criminal is one he’s taken down twice before? The guy keeps getting let out on parole.”
Izuku wants so badly to correct them, tell them that Katsuki has actually fought the guy five times, if you include the time when he was in high school. He holds himself back, though. He just tries to come off more as a hero nerd rather than Dynamight’s husband, “I think it might’ve been more than twice, actually.”
The whole group moves to stare at him and he shuffles awkwardly in his seat, “I’m a bit of a hero nerd,” He chuckles, “I’ve done a lot of research on the top 10.” A whole lot of research. He definitely doesn’t know all of the top 10 personally due to his husband. Nope. Totally not.
“Well, I just think Dynamight is hot,” Another of the girls say. This one is Shibata Asuka. “I don’t care for all of his technical stuff, I just think he’s nice to look at.”
Izuku has to hold back a giggle and a word of agreement.
His original plan for this whole thing was to simply see how long it takes this group to find out that Izuku is married to the person they seem to be obsessed with. His original plan, eventually, seemed to have taken some detours.
That’s unimportant right now, though.
The final person in the group, a guy called Kimura Makoto, speaks now, “It’s been four times, as far as I know,” He contributes, “once was fresh out of graduation and the most recent was today. The other two were both a couple years back, I think.”
Izuku just nods in agreement, not saying anything at all, really. Makoto is probably just a pretty big hero nerd as well, but maybe not too invested seeing as he doesn’t know about the fight Katsuki had with this guy in high school. Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem that even he knows who Izuku is beyond what Izuku just introduced himself as.
Over the next week, they meet up almost daily to work on their project. That means, almost daily, Izuku is hearing about his husband from the perspective of someone who has a crush on him.
Now, Izuku is very familiar with having a crush on Katsuki. Izuku’s mom could tell you that he’s been in love with Katsuki since they were in preschool, not that he really knew that much yet.
However, he’s a little less familiar with having a celebrity crush on Katsuki, seeing him as someone absolutely unobtainable meaning he can say anything he wants about him (though, now that he’s married to the guy he can definitely say pretty much whatever he wants about him). That’s what some of the people in this group do.
Asuka and Masako are completely and utterly obsessed with him but so much so that Izuku is pretty sure they’ve not even taken the time to actually figure out who he is as a person. They’re just mostly obsessed with the fact that he’s hot and can kick ass, which Izuku can’t really blame them because those are definitely two of the things he loves about Katsuki.
That’s the perk about being the man’s husband. He’s allowed to unashamedly love those things about Katsuki in front of the man himself.
Anyway, Renho is a bit more lowkey about her little crush on Katsuki. She doesn’t get overly into it and she seems to be a lot more understanding about the fact that Katsuki is an actual person. In fact, she might even know who Izuku is but he’s not entirely sure. She and Makoto are living together and have, apparently, been in a relationship for two years now so she honestly doesn’t say too much about Katsuki. She does make a few comments here and there, though.
As for Makoto, Izuku is pretty damn sure he knows. One day, a few days after Izuku joined this group, Makoto pulled him aside and apologized about his sister’s behavior and Izuku is pretty sure that’s as much of a hint as he’s getting about Makoto knowing. He’s a lot more confident in him knowing than he is in Renho knowing but, honestly, he wouldn’t be surprised if both of them know and go home at night to gossip about it. He knows that he goes home and gossips to Katsuki about what happens here so them doing the same thing wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest.
Either way, Izuku’s not a hundred percent sure that anyone knows anything for sure. Not even when Izuku wears his ring one day and his new friends start drilling him about it.
“You’re married, Izuku?” Asuka gasps, pulling Izuku’s hand toward her to admire the ring.
He looks down at his hand, realizing he forgot to put it on his necklace that morning. Usually he just wears it around his neck and hides it under his shirt. Today, he forgot.
Well, this is certainly going to be fun.
“You’re married?” Masako’s eyes widen, her head whipping over to Izuku’s hand, “Tell us about her! How long has it been?”
Izuku hesitates, realizing he’s not going to get out of this line of questioning, “Um,” He licks his lips nervously and smiles, “We’re going on 2 years now, it’ll be 2 years in January.”
Asuka gasps again, even louder than before, “You had a winter wedding?” She squeals, “That’s so cute! My dream wedding would be in winter, I just absolutely love the snow.”
Really, it wasn’t about the aesthetic or anything, Katsuki just wanted a winter wedding so he wouldn’t be sweating nearly as much and, therefore, it would be easier to control his quirk; he would be able to be calmer during the day without the added stress of making sure his quirk doesn’t go off due to excessive sweat.
“It is really pretty,” Renho agrees, admiring the ring before moving to look at Izuku, “do you have any pictures of your wedding?”
Izuku bites on the inside of his cheek. Of course he has pictures. Now, of course, he’s not trying to particularly hide the fact that he’s married to Katsuki but he thinks it’ll be fun to keep it on the down low for a little bit longer. Only because these girls seem to think they know absolutely everything about Katsuki when they genuinely couldn’t be more wrong most of the time.
Take the other day for an example, they were working on their project and somehow they got on the topic of Katsuki so Asuka starts talking about things that she just “knows” he likes. According to her his favorite color is orange, his favorite food is ramen, his favorite movie genre is action, and his favorite animal is lions.
She was wrong. Very wrong.
It took everything in Izuku to not jump in and correct all of her allegations, to tell her the real answers. He managed to keep it to himself, though.
His real favorite color is green because it reminds him of his husband, Izuku. The only reason his brand is mostly made up of orange is because his quirk is explosions and people correlate orange and red with explosions and fire.
His favorite food is katsudon and not because he likes to eat it (he does but there are other things he prefers taste wise) but because he loves how happy it makes Izuku. He once said he’d be willing to fuck up his diet and eat katsudon every single night as long as he could see Izuku smile. Izuku promptly melted into a puddle of mush that day.
His favorite movie genre is actually, and this one surprises a lot of people, romance. He is an absolute sucker for a shitty romcom, which nobody would be able to guess unless you really know the man. Whenever they have movie nights, Katsuki is always recommending that they watch some sort of romance film.
Finally, his favorite animal is the one she got closest to, seeing as a lion is in the cat family and cats are his favorite animal. Asuka just needed to think a little smaller for this one. Katsuki loves cats, it’s the reason they have 3 (not that Izuku doesn’t also love cats and may or may not be responsible for one of the cats they have).
Anyway, the girls also seem to think he’s single. Izuku figured they would’ve at least known that he’s in a relationship of some kind, even if they didn’t know it’s with a man and that man happens to be Izuku but, nope, they think he’s single.
At least now that they know that Izuku isn’t, maybe they’ll finally put two and two together. Except, knowing these girls, they’ll probably think it comes together to equal five. He gets away with showing some pictures of the wedding without any people there and a picture of him with his mom. They ask to see his wife and that’s when Izuku has to come out to them (he thought it was obvious but apparently not). They accept it with no qualms but then immediately turn around to ask to see his husband. He manages to make up some excuse, tell them a bit about Katsuki instead, and they drop it shortly after.
All in all it’s been a fun little moment in the last week or so of Izuku’s life to just listen to these girls spout nonsense, not knowing that they’re talking to Dynamight’s husband. Over time, Izuku has genuinely grown to care for this group. He thinks of them as friends now, even though they’ve all known each other for a lot longer. Masako and Makoto are siblings, though Izuku has yet to figure out if they’re twins or not and if Izuku had to guess, he honestly wouldn’t be able to tell you. Makoto does give off older sibling vibes, though, so there’s that. Anyway, Masako met Asuka in preschool, so likewise Asuka and Makoto met then too. Makoto met Renho in elementary school, which led to their whole friend group feeling complete.
Until Izuku came along, becoming another member. This was set in stone when Masako says something about it, “Y’know Izuku, you should keep hanging out with us even after this project is over. I think we all really like having you around!”
The entire group hums in agreement, Renho smiling softly and saying, “Yeah, I think you’ve sort of completed our little group here.”
Izuku immediately feels guilty for misleading them but there’s just something inside him that makes him want to keep going anyway. Maybe it’s the fact that going home at night and telling Katsuki all about it is one of the best parts of his day. Or maybe it’s the fact that he’s worried his new friends will be angry with him for not telling them and no longer want to be friends afterward. It could also simply be the fact that he is thoroughly enjoying this.
“I dunno,” Izuku mumbles, “you might think differently after we complete the project.”
“Why do you say that?” Asuka wonders out loud, staring at Izuku with confusion on her face.
Makoto gives Izuku a knowing look and that’s when Izuku knows for certain that he knows. The smallest hint of a smirk on his face tells Izuku everything he needs to know and Izuku could not appreciate the guy more for not ratting him out.
Izuku shrugs, biting at the inside of his cheek, “I dunno, let’s just do the project,” He tries to change the subject but the girls are not having it.
“No,” Masako leans forward in her chair, elbows on the table, “what do you mean by what you said?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Izuku opens up a notebook and starts writing in it, “so, I think that we should each have a part in the presentation where we-”
“Nuh-uh,” Asuka shuts the notebook on him, “what do you mean we might think differently after the project is over?”
“Yeah,” Masako crosses her arms, eyebrows furrowing together in a confused manner, “we only have a week left of the project, what could possibly make us think you don’t belong in our group after that?”
Renho is being oddly quiet, which makes Izuku think that her boyfriend happened to share his information with her about him being married to Katsuki. That’s fine. Neither of them say anything, both likely finding it funny themselves; to watch their friend's crushes on Katsuki in front of his husband is probably one of the most entertaining things for them, being college students. Izuku knows he would be entertained by it.
“Okay, listen,” Izuku opens his notebook back up, “how about you guys come over to my house next week, after our presentation, and I promise it’ll all make sense.”
“You’re acting really weird, Izuku,” Masako leans back in her chair, staring at Izuku but decides to drop it anyway, getting back to work on the project.
That night, Izuku texts Makoto a quick ‘thank you’ and goes home to tell Katsuki to expect company in a week. The grin on Katsuki’s face has Izuku knowing that his husband is about to go all out on this to absolutely blow these girls’ minds.
During the next week, Masako and Asuka question Izuku endlessly about what they could possibly find out at his home but Izuku chooses to reveal absolutely nothing. At all. This also doesn’t mean that Masako and Asuka stop talking about Katsuki because they don’t. They definitely don’t. Renho keeps it even more minimal than she used to, which tells Izuku that she definitely knows that he’s married to the guy now.
The night that his new friends are supposed to come over is also the night that Izuku goes home to see every single picture taken off the wall. Now, he finds that really weird. He pulls his phone out immediately, scared they were robbed or something - except, nothing looks broken and the rest of the house is spotless, so that can’t have been it.
He texts his husband, asking where all their pictures are, and Katsuki responds quickly, telling him that it’s all a part of the plan.
Great. He has a plan. This is going to go absolutely wonderfully. Katsuki is obnoxious and Izuku’s new friends are about to figure out the full extent of that.
A couple of hours later, his friends show up. Izuku lets them in and tells them they can all get settled in the living room and that his husband will be home soon. They all find spots on the couch or chair and the girls awe at his house, asking how he can afford such a nice place so he makes an offhand comment about how his husband is pretty well off (it’s definitely an understatement but, hey, they’ll find that out soon enough). Izuku’s cat makes her way onto his lap and starts purring as he sinks his hand into her fur.
“Aww, oh my god!” Masako squeals, “I didn’t know you had a cat.”
The rest of the group also focuses on the cat in awe, talking about how cute she is and whatnot.
“I have 3 but 2 of them probably won’t come out, they don’t like strangers,” Izuku explains, smiling at the enthusiasm surrounding his cats. He’ll gladly talk about them for hours, “this one is Sora. She’s really sweet.”
They talk about the cats for a little while longer and, once the cat high wears off, they continue to ask questions about what they’re supposed to understand now that they’re here, but Izuku just continues to tell them that it’ll all make sense in a moment.
The moment comes within 5 minutes of his friends being at his home. The door begins to unlock and Katsuki comes through it in his complete hero costume. Katsuki never wears his hero costume home, he always gets changed at the agency before coming back. Izuku takes a deep breath, preparing for whatever is about to happen.
Typically, Izuku thinks that he’s the more troublesome one and then things like this happen and Izuku is reminded of just how terrifying his husband really is. Izuku will never forget the faces of Asuka and Masako as they turn around and see Dynamight standing in Izuku’s living room. Izuku will, however, forget their faces when Dynamight walks up and kisses Izuku because he didn’t see them at all.
Katsuki casually - so, so casually - makes out with Izuku right there, in the middle of their living room, with four people watching. Absolutely zero shame whatsoever.
Asuka’s and Masako’s mouths were both hanging wide open as they took in the scene in front of them. The hero they’ve been obsessed with kissing the guy they’ve been consistently ranting about him to.
Izuku finally finds it in him to push Katsuki off and tell him off for doing that, “I love you but we have guests over and you are in your hero costume.”
Katsuki shrugs, clearly not caring and paying barely any mind to the four people in his living room. Instead, he leans back in to kiss Izuku again. This time, however, Izuku pushes the man away much quicker - his new friends still staring at him in awe. Even Makoto and Renho who knew prior seem a bit shocked at the display of affection in front of the group.
“You stink,” Izuku says bluntly, trying to get Katsuki to actually say something rather than just shrugging or kissing him (not that he’s too upset about the kissing), “go shower.”
“But we have guests,” Katsuki smirks at him, obviously trying to get a reaction out of Izuku at this point, “what kind of host would I be if I left right now?”
“Good thing I’m their host then, yeah?” Izuku crosses his arms and glares at Katsuki.
Katsuki presses a kiss to Izuku’s forehead, “Of course, dear.”
Izuku does a double take at that because, well, Katsuki never calls him dear. Typically, it’s just his name or nickname: Deku. On occasion, when they’re both alone and feeling especially in love, Izuku will hear a, “babe,” or something like that but never dear. Also, Katsuki has yet to swear a single time since he’s been home and Izuku is pretty sure that’s a new record. There’s definitely something going on and Izuku knows for sure that Katsuki’s plan runs deeper than originally thought.
Finally, one of the girls braves up enough to say something, “Um,” It’s Masako, “are we all seeing this right now? A top 10 hero in Izuku’s living room. Kissing him,” She glances around to her brother and her two friends, shock all over her face.
Makoto nods and Renho finds it in her to chuckle a little at her friend's shock. Asuka, though, seems to be frozen in place, just staring at Katsuki.
“So I’m assuming he’s why you had us come over?” Makoto asks Izuku because clearly he’s enjoying this just as much as Izuku and Katsuki are and wants to
“Wait,” Asuka’s eyes widen as she looks at Izuku, it shows on her face as she begins to piece it together in her mind, “You’ve been married since I met you. I’ve been talking about my crush on Dynamight since I met you. You let me talk to you about your husband for that long?” She seems absolutely horrified with herself, a hand falls over her mouth and she just stares.
Izuku laughs, “It’s not that big of a deal, Asuka, don’t worry.”
Asuka’s eyes widened impossibly further, “What do you mean it’s not a big deal?” She gasps softly, “That’s so embarrassing, oh my god,” She folds into herself, her face is a bright shade of red, “I’m so embarrassed.”
Izuku starts to kind of feel bad in a way but that immediately goes away when his husband (of which he loves wholeheartedly and he’s definitely not just telling himself that right now) walks back out into the living room with only a towel around his waist.
Izuku is starting to think it was a really bad idea to bring him into this silly little plan he had - and yet he still finds himself giggling at the bright red faces of Masako and Asuka. Even Renho has a slight tinge to her cheeks while Makoto is averting his gaze down to his phone, putting himself to work.
“Katsuki?” Izuku raises an eyebrow at his husband, who is just standing there, “did you need something?”
“You.”
The group’s eyes collectively widen after that; Izuku refuses to let himself blush at the implications of that and, instead, grabs the nearest thing (a remote) and throws it at his husband.
Masako almost says something, worry written all over her face, but Katsuki just catches the remote and she ends up just staring in awe instead. Izuku knew that the remote wouldn’t even come close to hitting him because his reflexes are just that good.
“You can’t have me right now,” Izuku tells him, “you were just talking about how only a terrible host would leave their guests alone.”
Katsuki scowls, “Maybe I want you to be a terrible host. Maybe I’m selfish.”
“Katsuki, go take your shower. Alone,” Izuku gestures toward the hallway to get him to leave. He really has no idea if there’s anything more to Katsuki’s plan or if that was it and he’s not sure if he’s ready to find out but he’s definitely excited to. It’s funny messing with this group (even if he did almost feel bad a few minutes ago for a couple of seconds).
Once Katsuki actually leaves, Izuku makes a point to apologize to his friends; Not just for Katsuki’s behavior but also for his own because he does feel sort of bad for keeping who he’s married to from them for so long, despite how funny it was.
“I’m sorry about him, guys, I didn’t know he was planning on acting crazy today,” Izuku shakes his head softly and once he stops, he takes a deep breath, “also, I’m sorry about not telling you about me being married to him before. I wasn’t really planning on actually wanting to be friends with you guys.”
“Okay wow, first of all, hurt,” Masako scoffs lightly but Izuku can sense the heavy sarcasm, “second of all, I cannot believe you Izuku.”
“Neither can I!” Asuka agrees, still bright red, “Ugh, that’s so embarrassing. I feel terrible. I’ve been talking so much about your husband and- oh my god.”
“Well, in Izuku’s defense, me and Renho knew,” Makoto scratches awkwardly at his neck, “I knew as soon as I saw Izuku and Renho figured it out a while ago.”
Asuka’s mouth drops open and Masako’s eyes widen, they both shout, “Betrayal!”
Then, before they know it, the whole group is laughing and, thankfully, there are no hard feelings toward Izuku for keeping his husband’s identity from his friends mostly because they recognized it was their ignorance at fault seeing as they could’ve easily found out that Katsuki’s married to Izuku with a simple google search.
“So you’re really married to Dynamight, huh?” Masako asks and leans back, like it’s suddenly hitting her as a real fact, the shock from the reveal starting to wear off, “What’s that like?”
“Well, I mean, you guys have heard me talk about my husband,” Izuku chuckles, “You just didn’t know who he was at the time but all of those things still stand. He’s very different from how the media portrays him.”
“Wow,” Asuka mumbles in awe.
Renho clears her throat, “So, is he normally that… uh,” She pauses trying to find the right word for it.
Masako finishes for her, finding the word, “Forward? Making out with you in front of guests? Walking out half naked when there are people over?”
“No,” Izuku shakes his head, trying to hold back a giggle but a smile is still prevalent on his face, “he just wants to be part of messing with you guys because I’ve been telling him about you all since I started the project with you guys. He’s felt left out and he’s a little baby so-”
“I’m a little baby, huh?” Katsuki walks out with his arms crossed. He’s fully clothed this time and not in his sweaty hero costume.
“Yes, yes you are,” Izuku doubles down, he won’t be taking that one back.
Katsuki walks all the way into the living room and Izuku scoots to the right, so that he’s sitting in the middle of the couch next to Makoto, who is also sitting at the middle with Renho at the far end; that way, Katsuki can sit next to the arm of the couch because Izuku knows he prefers that spot. Katsuki sits down and wraps his arm around Izuku, pulling him closer, “So, these are your friends, huh?”
“Yes,” Izuku smiles, it’s really nice to actually have his own friends and not just friends who are his friends because they’re Katsuki’s friends. He points to each person as he introduces them, “This is Makoto and next to him is Renho. Over on the loveseat is Masako and on the recliner is Asuka. Also, your plan is over and done with. No more funny business, Kacchan.”
Masako’s jaw drops, “Kacchan?” She gasps, “You call him Kacchan? That is SO cute, oh my god.”
“Yeah! Oh my god, that’s adorable,” Asuka holds out the word.
Renho giggles in agreement.
Katsuki rolls his eyes, “You see what you’ve done. Should’ve let me finish my plan.”
“Nope,” Izuku shakes his head but cuddles more into Katsuki’s side, missing his touch, “you already took down all of our pictures, I think that’s enough for the… year.”
“We’ll see about that.”
“You’re obnoxious.”
Katsuki shrugs, “You married me.”
“I can change that.”
Katsuki’s head veers over to look at Izuku, shock on his face, “You’re an asshole.”
“You married me,” Izuku smirks in response, using Katsuki’s own words against him.
Katsuki laughs, “Yeah, okay. Fair. Can’t fuckin’ argue with that.”
“I mean, you could probably find a way,” Izuku counters because he knows Katsuki can argue with absolutely everything at any given time if he tries hard enough. Then, just to ease Katsuki’s frustration, Izuku gives him a little kiss on the lips before bringing his attention back to his friends.
Speaking of his friends, they’re all just silently watching. Makoto is the first one that speaks up, “Well, this certainly isn’t how I imagined Dynamight.”
“Yeah,” Izuku laughs softly, “the media portrays him very, like…”
“They portray me as an asshole,” Katsuki says bluntly, finishing his husband’s sentence for him, “but I’m a hot asshole, so it’s fine I guess? I don’t know. They took the shitty person I was fresh out of highschool and ran with it.”
“Oh yeah,” Izuku’s laughter bubbles out, “if you met him in high school then you’d definitely be less surprised by him. He was very much his media portrayal when he was in high school.”
“How long have you guys known each other?” Renho asks, trying to put the pieces together.
“Uh,” Izuku thinks back, doing the math out loud, “okay well we’re both 22 and we’ve known each other since we were like 3? So like 19 years?”
“Woah,” Asuka’s mouth hangs open in awe, “That’s like… a really long time. How did I not know any of this?”
Izuku smiles in amusement, “Because you’re more obsessed with my husband’s looks and what the media wants people to know about him rather than who he actually is. I can’t really blame you though,” He shrugs, “Katuski’s hot.”
“I am,” Katsuki agrees.
Izuku elbows Katsuki in the stomach but doesn’t say anything and, instead, just carries on with talking to his friends, “Also, we don’t make many public appearances because I don’t like it. Though, you could definitely just google ‘Dynamight relationship’ and I’d pop up.”
The group talks for a little while longer and Izuku's new friends start to get to know his husband for real, rather than just what they think they know from the internet. Katsuki also starts to get to know Izuku’s friends through themself rather than just what Izuku tells him about them.
After a little while, Makoto and Renho decide to make their leave, mentioning that they have a dinner reservation that they need to get ready to go to. Shortly after they leave, Masako and Asuka leave as well. Masako leaving first and then Asuka leaving about half an hour afterward.
“Well, your friends are interesting.”
Izuku nods, crawling onto Katsuki’s lap now that his friends are gone and he doesn’t have to pretend not to constantly be all over his husband. He sits with his back against the arm of the couch and his side resting on Katsuki’s chest and stomach. Katsuki wraps his arms fully around Izuku and kisses the top of his head. It’s very sweet and domestic and exactly what Izuku loves.
“I can’t believe you never fuckin’ told them I’m your husband before today,” Katsuki laughs softly, the movement of his chest moving Izuku, “nice job, bro.”
Izuku looks up at his husband, a confused, yet oddly amused look on his face “Bro? Where did that come from?"
Katsuki laughs even harder now, a cough or two taking place of the laughter, "I don't know, it just came out."
Izuku's laughing too now, turning his face into Katsuki's chest.
"No but seriously how did you manage to keep me being your husband from them for so long?"
Izuku answers simply after his laughter dies down, "It was funny.”
Katsuki rolls his eyes, “Dumbass,” He mumbles but brings his head down to kiss Izuku deeply and softly.
Izuku returns the kiss with just as much enthusiasm. He completely forgets about his friends and, in all honesty, he forgets about everything deciding to just be in the moment with his husband returning his kiss.
