The sun hung high and brightly over the playground, basking the swings and playsets in a dreamy ray of warmth despite Bobby's shithead classmates littering the place and ruining it.
On the opposite side of the playground, they all gathered together like worms, laughing childishly in unison as they played, their shrill obnoxious laughter piercing his ears, similar to when they'd gang up to make fun of him.
"Stop staring at those nutshots Bobby, it's pathetic." A voice from beside him said, snapping Bobby out of the deep trance he was in. "Stare at me instead."
he turned his head to face the girl grinning at him, showing the cute gap on her teeth. Bryce's eyes held an eerie glint that deterred the other kids away but pulled Bobby in. Their tiny hands held one another, practically welded as they have yet to break their hand apart the whole afternoon they were playing.
Truth to be told, the little boy would willingly get lost in her eyes, admiring Bryce wholeheartedly with the overwhelming crush that he had for her. He would make his heart beat in sync with her breathing if he could.
"Sorry, just curious what got them up each others asshole." He grunted, glaring back at them with heavy contempt, pulling a frown down Bobby's features.
"Why does it matter? those imbeciles are a network of one braincell together. of course they'd be around each other." Bryce retorted, following his gaze. From the distance, they all halted to a stop, silence hanging over them as one girl stood up front. The kids bursted into loud cheers when the girl cartwheeled, landing on two feet impressively.
Bryce however wasn't moved by the stunt, instead, her eyes are straight at bobby who was at the least, impressed. A bubbling jealousy ate at her heart, hating that at very moment she was outshined by someone else in his gaze. She squeezed his hand painfully, earning a small whine from him.
"Bobby. Are you deaf? Dont make me repeat myself." She said in a pointed manner, her smile growing bigger, mirroring a predator thats ready to pounce and maul their prey. But bobby wasnt her prey, he was only supposed to be a toy, but grew a strong attachment to. Instead of a tiger, Bryce was more so a territorial cat towards him. A creepy cheshire cat at the very least.
Bryce's tone made Bobby's heart skip a beat or two. It was the exact feeling he gets when he gets a small whiff of the white powder left littered on their coffee table after his father leaves, or as intoxicated from when he mistook a bottle of beer from their fridge as apple juice; It was unusual and new for the small boy, but Bobby was addicted and it left him wanting more.
The young boy was ignorant to the fact the warmth settled deep in his guts was from the very girl next to him, kicking her feet over the playsets edge. What the oblivious Bobby have yet to realize is that the warmth he felt wasnt from the sun, but Bryce; for she is his sun.
A sunshine that brightens his days, but is a painful glare of ray for others. Warm, comforting touches, but scalding hot for anyone that wasnt him.
Bobby was one of the many planets that orbited her, the moon which relies on her shine for him to reflect and glow for others to finally notice. But if it meant they are seen as the perfect duo just like the sun and moon, he was perfectly fine with that.
He just simply threw a soft smile her way, squeezing her hand back in a reassuring manner, a great compliment and balance to her fiery attitude.
"Got it, my eyes will be glued to you the whole day, Maam. Oogling you every second."
Bobby snickers, earning an approving nod from the girl who just shrugged her shoulders, fingers still tangeled with his.
"As you should."
