Work Text:
Soft humming gently echoes around the room, his eyes focused onto the report he’s reviewing. His eyeglasses giving a light glint under the lamp above him, studying the rows of words typed out neatly for him to read. There is also a similar stack of papers waiting patiently for him to be reviewed. The sapphire orbs gliding slowly from left to right, a steaming cup of black coffee in his other hand.
“Twilight, the new spies are here. They’re waiting for their assignments from you.” A familiar face peeks out from his office door, none other than Nightfall herself. “Understood Fiona. Let me finish this review first then I’ll go there. What of Handler though? Shouldn’t she be the one to do it?” He raises a questioning eyebrow.
“She was at first, but then she thought it would be better if you’re the one to handle it. After all, you’re going to take her position sooner or later.” Fiona answers, before closing the door, leaving him alone in his office.
Damn that superior of his.
Operation Strix ended after four years, the longest he ever assigned to a single mission, but it ended well. Due to the successful nature of the mission, he not only ensured the peace between Ostania and Westalis would continue, but also allowing the friendly relationship between the two nations to bloom and strengthen overtime.
He also realized that at this point, there was more than just saving the world and being another shadow in the dark. He came to an epiphany, that his so called fake family, had become a genuine one. He created deep bonds with all of them. Anya, Yor, Bond. He didn’t want to just throw them away after the mission was completed. He wanted to be with them, to finally settle down and actually have someone he loves to come home to. To greet him after work.
And because of that, his application to be removed from the active line of duty was quickly approved. Not only because of his own request, but WISE higher ups recognized his talent and being an invaluable member of the organization, his expertise and proficiency would be very much needed to train the new generations.
While he does still sometimes go to the field to partake in missions - thanks to his inability to be fully accustomed to mundane office desk jobs -, he now spends most of his time now in the office. It is boring yes, but at the end of the day, this is what he chose. He spent more than a decade dedicating his life to make a world where children wouldn’t need to cry. It’s time to make the one child he loves the most not cry. To have Anya not worry whether he’d come home alive and safe or not every day.
He can live with that.
Because of his effort, and status, he was able to get a salary that’ll make everyone drool. But hey, he earned it fair and square. He’s the best spy of his generation after all, capable of completing assignments that normal agents would downright reject and remark as impossible.
And that’s excluding the benefits of having Anya’s tuition at Eden Academy completely covered until she graduates. That is if she can steer herself away from any additional Tonitrus Bolts of course…
And now, a year later, rumors have it that since Sylvia’s about to move even higher in the WISE hierarchy, that means the Handler position would become vacant. And this means, there’s only one person that would be more than perfect to fill up such position. Yes, you heard it right, Loid Forger is poised to become the next Handler. And because of that, he now needs to start experiencing the daily life of being Sylvia Sherwood.
In other words, boring, stressful desk job that needs him to review stacks upon stacks of papers of reports. Stamp them and move on to the next one.
“Right, time to greet those new agents. I hope they won’t make a mess on their first day at work.” He sighs, standing up from his comfy chair to give them their first ever mission.

High heels clacking against the marble floor, the stride of the ravenette is light and gracious. She’s dressed nicely with a beige blouse with an ocean blue blazer on top of it along with a matching pair of blue jeans. Her twin locks of hair swaying gently against the light breeze. In her right hand, there’s a carry bag and inside, there are two bento boxes.
A smile is adorning her lips as she hums a popular song that’s slowly climbing the music chart this month. She couldn’t wait to have a lunch date with her beloved husband, eager to show him some new things she discovered when she was reading the cookbook she bought a week ago when she and her family went out to the bookstore.
Yor Forger, wife of Loid Forger, mother of Anya Forger, couldn’t wait until she could start their daily romantic dates. It’s something that she started doing a while back, after slowly getting the hang of it in the kitchen to the point where Loid didn’t need to worry about her burning that part of the house down.
It was nice, knowing that she can finally become better at cooking under the guidance of Loid, who took his time with her, teaching her with utmost passion and affection for countless of hours and sessions, even when sometimes she knew that he was exhausted and yet, still wanted to spend some intimate time with her in the kitchen.
And now, thanks to her hard work and perseverance, and of course, thanks to Loid’s seemingly endless patience, she can now proudly say she’s a great mother, capable of making a wide variety of dishes that would make her friends, especially Camilla, proud.
And speaking of her friends, they’re all extremely jealous of her and Loid being all lovey dovey. They take turns whenever possible. One day she’ll be coming over to his office to have a lunch date, and the next day, Loid might be the one who’ll pay her a visit at her office at the Berlint City Hall, opting to have their lunch under the shade of a tree in an impromptu picnic.
Camilla is the worst out of the three, her glaring and yelling at Yor to stop being all so adorable and affectionate every time Loid escorted her back to her work, before giving her a loving kiss as a goodbye. Millie’s also the same, though she’s more of a jealous one, opting to complain on how can she have someone as amazing as Loid. Sharon is Sharon, saying how lucky Yor is to have someone like Loid as her husband.
And she can’t deny those words.
She really is the luckiest woman in the world.
And right now, she’s right in front of the door that’ll lead to his workplace. “If you’re looking for him, you better be quick Yor. He’s a busy man right now but I suppose he could make time to be with his wife.” An elderly man chuckles at her, reading a newspaper.
“Oh believe me, he’ll always have time to be with me.” She giggles, opening the door, revealing none other than the office of WISE.

“Alright, since you guys are new, you’re not going to partake in solo missions yet. You’re now a mere assistant but do not let your guard down, ever. Your job is to assist the agents that’re assigned to these missions and to ensure its success.” Loid says, handing a file to each of the five agents.
“Agent Blizzard, you’re assigned with Agent Breeze to scope out a possible drug dealing in a restaurant in West Berlin tonight at 7. Agent Dawnlight, you’re assigned with Agent Nightfall to assist SSS agents to capture a gun smuggler in Dreisden tonight at 9. Agent-“
“Loid! I’m here!”
The bustling noises suddenly come to an abrupt halt, as all eyes practically now set upon one Yor Forger. This of course, causes confusion among the new agents. “Wait, who’s she? Doesn’t she look like a civilian?” A young man asks.
“Ma’am, I don’t know how you get in here but I believe you-“
SMACK!
“Ow! What was that for?!”
“You idiot, that’s no civilian. That’s Thorn Princess, Twilight’s wife.” An older and more experienced agent explains. “Good to see you again Yor.” He smiles. “You too Marcus.” She politely returns the kind gesture.
She continues to walk to Loid, who has his eyes widened as he definitely didn’t expect her to be here. He has eyeglasses on and somehow and someway, it makes him even more handsome and dashing, easily by twofold. He could even be wearing that ridiculous outfit Anya forced him to wear when they were at that cruise ship five years ago and she’d still be falling head over heels.
“Hello darlin’.” She coos, planting a kiss on his cheek, causing it to burn brightly from her loving ministration. A couple of giggling and snickering could be heard instantly, as Loid tries to maintain his composure. “You know, I decided to drop by today since I want to surprise you with a new dish I made. I hope it is to your liking though.” She says, lifting the bag containing the bento boxes right in front of his face.
“Come on! Let’s go to your office so we can have our usual lunch dates!” She giggles, already tugging his wrist to follow her.
“Y-Yor, I’m sorry, but I can’t.”
She immediately stops dead on her track, becoming as stiff as a statue. She ever so slowly turns around, locking her ruby orbs directly with his sapphire ones. Did she hear that right?
“What do you mean by you can’t?” She tilts her head. Right now, everyone is watching the two, and for some reason, Loid could feel the air’s growing thicker. “I’m sorry Yor, I really do. But these new recruits are going on their first ever assignments and I am quite busy with paperwork. I’m really sorry Yor but can it wait?” He pleads.
“So you won’t be having lunch with me today?” She asks, voice laced with hurt. Oh how Loid hates hearing it. “I-I’d love to Yor. Believe me, I do. But… I have to finish these things first and it’ll definitely take time.” He gives her a sincere look of apology.
“But Loid, I made these for you. Please? I beg you.” She pouts, giving him a puppy eye look. Loid grabs her by her shoulders, sighing deeply. “I’m sorry Yor but, please, I am really busy right now and I can’t have a lunch date with you today. So please, forgive me.” He murmurs. He then lets go of her before turning back again to the now stunned agents.
“My apologies for the unexpected intrusion of my wife, but let’s- HURK!”
He suddenly feels heavier and definitely feels his neck being strained hard. He looks back quickly and to his horror, finds his lovely wife dragging him by the collar to his office.
“Yor! Lady! Stop! Stop this instant! Yor! You’re choking me!” He croaks.
“Don’t you lady me Mister Forger!” She snarls. “Your amazing and filled with joy wife cooked all these delicacies so she can share it with the love of her life and you want me to let it go?! Oh no you don’t Loid! You and I will have our usual lunch date, your office job be damned!” She states with fury.
He tries to fight back but then again, how can you even escape from the legendary Garden assassin Thorn Princess. The agents around him are offering their condolences, and… is that a satisfied smirk ghosting over Fiona’s face?!
“Sylvia! Sylvia! Help me!” He squeals, causing the new agents to cover their mouth in horror and disbelief while those who’ve been around for a long time are having the time of their lives. Fortunately for him, Sylvia comes out of her office, looking radiant as ever even though she’s sporting baggy eyes due to lack of sleep for the last couple of days.
“Hmm, what is it Twilight? Why’re you making a fuss today?” She questions. She could see Yor stopping, just so he can have some words with Sylvia. “Sylvia please, you have to reason with her! I am busy as you can see but she still wants to have our lunch date as usual! Please tell her that it could wait and I promise I’ll make her an amazing dinner tonight!” He pleads.
Sylvia hums, nodding her head, before looking at Yor. Her thin lips slowly curving to a mischievous smile. Loid’s face loses all of its colors.
“I am sorry Loid, if this was anything else, I would be more than happy to help you. However, as we all know, WISE has an unofficial rule: never interfere with Thorn Princess, especially if it involves her beloved husband. Moreover, if I do so, Yor would probably won’t invite me to this week’s girls’ night out until I make it up to her.” She smirks evilly.
“Well Yor, I suppose your husband does need a little bit of relaxation, as stubborn and thick skull he may be. Have fun Yor. Just don’t destroy his office too much okay? I don’t want to explain to the higher ups why the budget for this month has a big dent.” She waves at her.
“Thank you Sylvia! You’re the best!” She giggles, waving at her before resuming dragging the poor Forger man to his office.
“Sylvia! Sylvia! No!”
SLAM!
~
A few minutes later, dozens of WISE agents, Sylvia and Fiona included, could be seen cluttering at the window. They could see the two through the blinds and most of them are chuckling, seeing how the once stoic and cold Loid Forger is currently being fed gently by his wife.
He really is an idiot. How could he refuse to have a lunch date with Yor when she practically made a five star bento just for him?! Even just by seeing it makes their stomachs rumble to let them know that they need to get their lunch soon.
Loid spots them, especially Sylvia and Fiona, his eyes screaming at them with the word ‘traitor’.
Sylvia merely blows a raspberry to him while Fiona offers him a sly grin.
Half an hour later, when they check Loid again, it’s already a different scene. Loid is sleeping peacefully in the couch, his head is nestled in Yor’s lap while she caresses his face and hair with her lithe yet powerful fingers. They could hear a humming from his office, which all of them dub Yor’s Lullaby.
They could see Loid sleeping with a smile on his face, while Yor happily allows him to sleep as long as he wants to, if that means spending more time with him at work. They really are made for one another.
And with that, they remove themselves from the premise, leaving the two to indulge themselves in the little heaven they created.
