Christmas Eve.
Still at her desk.
He would not allow her to leave early.
Charlotte had a gift for him but he may not be given it.
She thought of her mother's delicious Christmas eve dinner.
He walked in as she was lost to fish pie.
"Miss Heywood still here" said Sidney.
"Yes Mr. Parker, you have not told me to leave."
"You may leave Miss Heywood" said he.
"Thank you Mr. Parker, I have something for you."
A copy of "A Christmas Carol."
Hiding a smile "thank you for the gift Miss Heywood."
"You are welcome, perhaps you would like to join my mother and I for Christmas Eve dinner."
"Are you sure you wish to eat with Mr. Scrooge?"
" I will not sing, wear silly hats or play any boardgames but the sound of your mother's dinner is tempting."
Charlotte went to collect her coat and turning to Sidney said "It is the season of goodwill to all men including Scrooge."
Sidney smiled at her.
"Thank you Miss Heywood, I would hate to think that you could not extend your good will to tryants such as I."
"Come on Mr. Parker before I change my mind and summon the Christmas ghosts."
"Very well, I will and you can tell about how I can be festive."
They left the office and walked in the star lit streets towards the home where Charlotte, her mother, father and brother Tim lived.
