Work Text:
The All Devouring Narwal had been knocked down. Nuevillette raised his hand to it, but before he could do anything, it suddenly shrunk into a small ball.
As the narwal shrunk, a woman I did not know came into view. In one hand, she was holding the ball. In the other, she was holding…
“Childe!”
I managed to scream this right as the woman was about to throw the objects she was holding into a portal behind her. Thankfully, my sudden outcry caused her to stop and turn around.
“Let him go!”
After commanding this, I quickly ran up to the woman and grabbed Childe away from her.
“Childe”, I said as I began frantically shaking him. “Childe? Wake up, Childe!”
After doing this for a moment…Childe groaned before slowly opening his eyes.
“C…comrade”, He breathed out, his voice very weak.
He then slowly started reaching his hand up to me, which I took in my own hand before placing it on my cheek.
“I’m here, Childe”, I said. “I’m right here.”
After I said this, Childe’s eyes suddenly closed as he lost consciousness again.
“Childe”, I asked, before beginning to desperately shake him again. “Childe? Tartaglia?! Ajax!”
As I was frantically shaking Childe, I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder.
I quickly whipped my head up, and saw the woman.
“He’s going to be okay”, she reassured me. “But he’s badly hurt. He needs to get help.”
After the woman said this, she tried to take Childe away from me, but as soon as she grabbed onto his collar, I wrapped my arms tightly around him and pulled him close to my chest.
“Stay away from him”, I commanded angrily.
“It’s okay”, the woman reassured me. “This portal is going to send him back to his family.”
Not trusting this random woman’s words, I glared at her as I held Childe closer to me.
“Comrade”, I heard a weak voice say.
When I did, I quickly pulled away from Childe and looked at him.
“Ajax”, I said in relief.
“It’s okay, comrade”, he reassured me weakly. “This is my master that I was telling you about. You can trust her.”
“Wait a minute”, Paimon started in realisation. “This is your master, Skirk?!”
Paimon didn’t get an answer from Childe, because he had already lost consciousness again.
The woman (who was apparently Childe’s master Skirk) then kneeled down beside me.
Realising what was going to happen next, I looked down at Childe…and tears began to fall down my eyes.
“Guess this is goodbye. I’ll try to make it to Snezhnaya as soon as possible. I promise.”
After I said this…I leaned down and placed a kiss on Childe’s forehead.
Then, I looked up at Skirk, and gave her nod of approval.
Skirk nodded in reply. Then, she grabbed onto Childe’s collar…and threw him into the portal.
As I watched it closed, I placed my hand on top of my heart.
Please be okay.
