Return of the Tamers: Demon Lords Rebellion

Summary:

It's been a year after the D-Reaper was defeated and both worlds were saved, at a cost. The digital world was severed from the real world, leaving the tamers heart-achingly separated from their partners. Despite missing them, time continued at it's usual pace and them resumed normal lives. Hypnos was rebuilt, now monitoring typical cyber activity and with it rebuilt, digital disturbances once again began to get picked up. Something is happening in the digital world, and it's trying to reach out to the real world. The D-Reaper, in its wanton destruction, has caused another evil to be set free.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Over a decade ago…

“-There must be another way-!”

Urgency, desperation, in a voice.  One familiar…? A name was spoken but was seemingly erased from being heard.

“…There is no other way. You know this to be true.”

“-, You cannot bear this alone! –” More was erased, leaving long pauses in speech, like a head being dunked underwater over and over again. “-please, we can-” This time an interruption.

“No. War cannot be won without sacrifice. Farwell.”

A yell made into silence.

During the D-Reapers attack on both worlds…

“Hurry quick! It’s coming! Gather the digi-eggs!” The order rang out through the temporary makeshift shelter. Panic spread quickly, faster than wildfire or even the current disaster that was the dangerous D-Reaper program. The digimon that had given the call, Lillymon, was quickly gathering the precious digi-eggs herself. Other digimon that braved staying around to assist frantically gathered what they could, as quickly as they could.

One digimon, Harpymon, flew to a clutch of multicolored eggs. Before she could grab any, a bunch of rookie-levels cut her off and piled the eggs into a big basket tied to the large, grey, dinosaur champion digimon, Monochromon. Harpymon gave an indignant squawk, feathers thoroughly ruffled enough as is she, didn’t need to get spooked further! She was just about to turn tail feathers and leave with the dinosaur when something bright caught her gem-like eyes. She turned her head back towards where the clutch of eggs had been.

To armor-level’s surprise, there was a blueish purple egg left! Harpymon quirked a brow questioningly at the egg, she swore the rookies had snagged them all. With all the chaos going on, she assumed she’d simply been too flustered to notice and dismissed the occurrence. Carefully, with a three-clawed foot Harpymon plucked the defenseless egg from the ground and flew over to the Monochromon, which, by now, was leaving.

“You lot nearly forgot one!” She snapped irately to two of the rookies, who were in the basket with the eggs. The two merely exchanged confused looks, they’d been certain they’d grabbed them all. With a huff, the wind guardian nested among the eggs, holding the one she’d saved particularly close.

Shortly after the D-Reaper’s Defeat

Harpymon didn’t know why she was still helping with the digi-eggs. Now, was prime time to be looting knowledge from the ruins, whatever was left of them anyway. She’d only helped prior to this because, well, it’d take a real rotten digimon not to help out during what’d, nearly, been digital-Armageddon. Now there was no danger, she was free as a bird! No guilt in leaving now; however, something about the egg she found…compelled her to stay.

Last she checked; she had no maternal instincts encoded in her. Yet, here she was, staring at the blueish purple egg, with a white spot on top, like it’d done her wrong.

Lillymon, whom was busily making sure her new digi-egg nursery was being set up to her liking, had been surprised by her offer to continue to help but readily accepted. Much of the other digimon had gone off to find new homes or look for ones they’d gotten separated from. A group which Harpymon felt she should’ve gone with.

The suspect digi-egg gave a sudden jolt that caused the disgruntled, unwilling, egg-sitter to perk her head. Seemed the thing was ready to hatch. Mutely she watched the egg jerk into an upright position. It shook then cracked and out came a fittingly blueish purple ball of mithril fur. Harpymon gave it a scrutinizing gaze, she didn’t recognize this digimon. Maybe that’s why she was compelled to stick around. Even still it was odd.

The furry slime digimon eyed her with sharp, yellow eyes.

She gave a conceding sigh, now she was curious enough to stay further. Figured.

She bent down to pick the newborn up with her wings. Lillymon had instructed she be shown any new arrivals for records sake. With all the devastation wrought by the D-Reaper, such things like population were important to monitor. An unknown digimon was likely to make the fairy’s digi-soul soar, more so than usual.

“Eh?” Harpymon grunted when the little fuzzball bristled its fur at her. Before she could react, the furball launched itself at her and latched onto her face. Loud shrieking ensued as the winged digimon flailed around, trying to get the fresh-level off her face.

“What in the digital world is going on in here?” Lillymon questioned as she glided into the nursery. She stared at the sight of Harpymon with a blue furball latched keenly onto her nose. She may have been amused by this, possibly even giggle, if it wasn’t for the fact of what exactly it was on her face. That being, she didn’t recognize this digimon.

Before Harpymon could even register her arrival, Lillymon swiped the newborn off her face. It took a moment for the armor-level to realize the urchin had been plucked. Of course, the fairy digimon was more curious about the new arrival than if she was okay. The nerve! That’d little thing’s bite stung, the least she could do was ask! Unwilling to put the effort into something pointless, Harpymon gently used her feathers to wipe her face, trying to regain her dignity.

“How curious. I’ve seen hundreds of births, and this is the first I’ve seen of this digimon.” Lillymon thought aloud. The fresh-level just looked at her. The fairy smiled and stroked its tough fur and its sharp ears flattened in contentment. “We’ll just have to wait and see what you become. A new digimon being born so soon after disaster is good sign.”
