Work Text:
It was a warm evening.
Or at least it was for you, you had always managed the cold wind better.
Anyhow, you were out exploring, seeing if you could complete some of the tasks the citizens in Liyue had given you.
But… You'd had a bad night, nightmares and terrible visions of memories you could not place.
And so you had laid down, just for a moment , you had thought.
You were out cold before you could realize it.
Your mind couldn't help itself, the nightmares found you once again, but this time, with the feeling of grass around your body and the wind blowing through your hair… It felt familiar enough that you unconsciously called out for someone.
Xiao was feeling conflicted, he knew which one was her favourite but what if he had heard it wrong? He kept pondering as he looked at the item in his hand, when he heard her.
It was fast, one moment the adeptus was standing near a lake, then he was in the middle of a field (still in Liyue, he could feel it). It had been pure instinct, when she called he appeared, simple as that. It made sense, at least in his mind, at least for both of them.
The mere idea that YuYu might be in danger created an anxious feeling in his chest that he couldn't control, even if he knew she was capable of taking care of herself. Still, he turned to look where she had called him.
No one was there.
Or at least that was what it seemed at first, that was until Xiao looked down.
And there she was.
YuYu's body simply laid there, surrounded by the green scenery, breathing softly and with her eyes closed.
She was… asleep? Xiao couldn't understand the concept, but he had been unconscious before, so he assumed it was something similar.
Had she been knocked out cold by one of the many enemies that occupied this place? That made no sense, she didn't look like she had been in the middle of a battle. She looked so… peaceful .
Xiao gulped, had she simply chosen to sleep here? Then why had she called him?
It didn't matter, now he was here. And he had to watch over her.
He couldn't just leave now, a voice in his head told him to stay.
So, he just stood there, looking around to make sure no one came any closer. But there was no one around, so it felt a bit awkward.
Xiao decided to change strategy and sat down next to the girl. He immediately felt calmer, she had that effect on him.
Time passed, and the man eventually also laid down. It felt right.
He felt the warmth coming off her body, which somehow made his face warm up. He felt so… relaxed.
If he could he would pick up this moment and put it on loop, living in it forever. He could stay on the grass, no preoccupations, no worries, just existing near the person he held closer to his heart.
You lazily opened your eyes, stretching your body as you yawned. That had been an actual good nap, you had felt secure and protected. Almost no nightmares too!
When you turned around you were faced with a flower right next to you.
A cecilia?
It didn't grow anywhere close to the area you were in. You smiled at the sight, it was one of your favourite flowers.
You picked the plant up and packed it away carefully in your inventory.
You stood up and sighed after a well deserved rest.
It was time to get those tasks done.
