Chapter Text

Surrounded by paparazzi and press on all sides, trying to get inside to have a moment of peace that Tommy never seems to get anymore, questions after questions shouting about how it feels to win the award and what his next song will be like. It's all too much, too much... Tommy's had enough. He shouts
"You want to know my next song? Fine, have some of my illusions. My mistake. I was careless. I forgot I did." with tears in his eyes starting to fall down his face, "Tell them all I know now. Scream it from the rooftops. Write it on the skyline. All we had is gone now."
struggling to get through the next part, taking a deep breath and looking dead into what used to be his family's eye through the lens of the camera because he knows they're watching. "Tell them I was happy and my heart is broken. All my scars are open. Tell them what I hoped would be impossible. Impossible. Impossible,"
he takes a deep breath, wipes away his tears that were streaming down his face, turns away, and goes inside as everyone is standing still, stuck in place, wondering who that was for. His family, sitting with tears in their eyes, looks at one another, saying, What have we done?
But before we get into that, dear readers, let's start with the present. (I'm evil; you should be scared.)
09/04/2020
Tommy's shaking out his hands. Trying to calm his nerves down, getting ready to go on stage and play for so many people It's always been his dream, and he finally made it. But he still gets nervous, especially with his new album. He's playing it for the first time today. Putting out music about yourself is always scary, and he hopes his fans will like it. He hopes Sam will love it. Sam has been trying and trying to get him to show him some, but Tommy wanted it to be a surprise for everyone, especially Sam. His new album is called "For You." That's all anyone knows about it.
His past, his future, and his present are all in this, and only the people closest to him will know it's for them, and only two of them are for Sam, but he doesn't know yet. Tommy's excited to see his reaction songs in the album. He knows that this album is going to be tough to get through and sing for everybody, especially his brothers that he lost contact with.
They'll know the song when he sings it, but he won't be able to see their reactions. He misses them so much, and his friend that he met got him into being a vigilante, although no one knows it's him, and he plans on keeping it that way, especially being sought after by both the heroes and the villains.
"Tommy, Tommy, your on, let's go," Puffy says, snapping him out of his thoughts. Taking a deep breath, he walks on stage and to the microphone. As his fans scream and yell, they are all excited, not knowing what to expect.
"Hello, Essempei, are you excited?" He looks around for a moment, taking it all in. "Okay, this is going to be a little different than what you are used to. This is an album dedicated to the people who mean the most to me, even if I can't reach out to them anymore. I think about them all the time, but they will only know who they are," he smirks as the crowd yells out in protest. He chuckles a little. "With that said, let's go!"
He looks back to the band that's playing, and with a head nod from him, he sings out, "Some days I'm treading in the water, and it feels like it's getting deep some nights. I drowned in the weight of things that I think I need.
Tommy's brothers are in the crowd. Tommy doesn't know, but as soon as he starts singing, They look each other in the eyes and say, "No, it can't be him," as they start signing along,
"I'll be yours and you'll be mine. Be happy. Oh, some day when we're older, we won't worry about the things that we don't need," they sang the song out with all their hearts, wishing they could hug him again.
They miss him so much, trying everything they could to find him, and they've been listening to him for years without knowing it. As the next song starts up, they are wiping their eyes, thinking that was the only song for them. Not knowing that the next song they have never heard is for them to.
"Oh brother, we go deeper than the ink beneath the skin of our tattoos No, we don't share the same blood. You are my brother, and I love you. That's the truth; I know we're living different lives. Heaven only knows" hugging each other, trying to stay standing up because they realize just how much Tommy misses them as well as hearing every word as he sings
"5 years, 20 years come back. I'll always be the same. If I were dying on my knees, you would be the one to rescue me, and if you were drowned at sea, it would give you my lungs so you could breathe. I've got you, brother. I've got you, brother."
They know that it's going to be so hard to get in contact with him; he's famous now. They can't just walk up to security and tell them that they are his brothers who haven't seen them in years. They push it away for later, focusing all their attention on their brother, whom they finally found.
As the next song starts, someone in the crowd who was here by himself enjoying the music and watching in silence isn't expecting that the song is for him. With a sharp breath, he listens to the words,
"And if I see you in clean new clothes, I hope you hold the mirror up to show me what I chose and I return to my beautiful city. Black skies changed into blue."He is in awe at realizing that he just got the identity of the vigilante everybody wants on their team without anybody else knowing. He snaps out of your shock with the next lyrics:
"Some nights I still dream of you, and I know you're out there in the shadows." Tommy knows he is still watching him, keeping him safe even in the shadows. shaking his head, listening to the rest of the music, and softly smiling.
Taking a deep breath Tommy Breathes gets ready to start the final song before he gets to the ones for Sam, smiling softly. "So tell me what you want to hear—something that will light those years. I'm sick of all the incensus, so I'm giving all my secrets away." hearing the crowd get louder with each word he sings,
"Don't need another perfect line. I don't care if the critics ever jump in line. I've given all my secrets away. So tell me what you want to hear," he said, smiling to himself as he knew that the critics weren't going to like it, but his fans were going to love it.
Sam is watching Tommy with such a proud look on his face. He couldn't be any prouder than he already is. Tommy's come so far; all he needed was the right person to be there for him. Sam just hopes Tommy understands why he couldn't adopt him even when he wanted to more than anything.
He comes out of his thoughts when Puffy puts a hand on his shoulder, smiling softly at each other. "You put all your faith in my dreams. You gave me the world that I wanted. What did I do to deserve you?"Sam tears up slightly, wondering who Tommy could be singing about now.
Tommy isn't one to share what he feels; instead, he likes to write down a song to pour out what he feels in his heart. Sam never pushes him to talk, letting him pour it all out of his heart on paper instead, looking at him now and sharing some of the things he has been writing for years now.
"I've waited way too long to say everything. You mean to me that in case you don't live forever, let me tell you now. I love you more than you'll ever wrap your head around. In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth. I'm everything that I am because of you."
Sam chokes up tears streaming down his face watching his son sing his heart out about him falling to his knees as puffy holds him. The next words falling in his ears were,
"We've only got so much time. I'm pretty sure it would kill me if you didn't know. The pieces of me are pieces of you. I've waited way too long to say everything. You mean to me"
as Tommy turns around to look him in the eyes, trying to keep the tears from rolling down his face, singing every word he means right to him. "I have a hero whenever I need one. I just woke up to you, and I see one. I'm a man because you taught me to be one. In case you don't live forever, Let me tell you that I love you more than you'll ever wrap your head around. In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth. I'm everything that I am."
Sam, looking right into Tommy's eyes, mouths out, "I love you, son." As Tommy breaks the tears falling down his face, he can't hold them back anymore. "In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth as long as I'm here as I am. So are you?
Tommy steps back in deep breath, wiping away his tears, and goes into the next song: "I just don't want to miss you tonight, and I don't want the world to see me because I don't think that they'd understand when everything's made to be broken. I just want you to know who I am."
Tommy kneels down, singing his heart out for everyone to hear his pain to his father, and yet they don't know. "And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming or the moment of truth in your lies when everything feels like the movies. Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive."
Choking up a little, letting the song play in the back, taking a breath in trying not to sob, "I just want you to know who I am." finishing the song with those lyrics, letting every person he sang for know he meant every word, standing to his feet, bowing his head, and waving goodbye to the crowd as he turns and runs to Sam,
Who is still on the ground, wrapping their arms around each other because they don't even know how much time they have left together, but they will sit here for an hour. Sam is telling him how proud he is, and Tommy is calling him dad for the first time. Puffy helps them to their feet, guiding Tommy as he goes to get ready for his meet and greet.
His brothers in the crowd watch with tears in their eyes as their brother sings his heart out for them and everyone in those songs. They wish they got to go to the meet and greet, wishing they could hug their brother again.
They wish they had more money, turning and walking out before the crowd rushes to get to the meet and greet. Going home to their small flat without their brother hurts, but there is nothing they can do yet.
A watches as everyone leaves, wondering if he is going to talk to Helios about knowing his identity or staying in the shadows and not talking to him after he left the first time.
After meeting fans for hours, He is finally heading home with Sam; they haven't talked about it yet. Tommy knows it's because Sam wants him to bring it up; he doesn't want to push Tommy into talking unless he is ready, and Tommy is thankful for that.
After all, he knows Sam as much as himself; he just needs a little break before they unpack what the song meant, so to help, he decides to start another song just for him and his father.
"Now that we're both standing here in this moment, it's like there's no one else here. You are in focus. Sometimes it won't be easy. The things that really matter never do. They break your heart, but I'd go anywhere for you."
Sam looks over to him and holds out his hand. Tommy takes Sam's hand in his both teary-eyed smiles, and Tommy continues, "If the waves are trying to take you under where they're going to have to take me, I'll go anywhere for you. I would walk a million miles, jump the moon, and bring back the little stardust when your heart's into it. There's no time. There's no hours because this kind of love we have is all the time."
Sam let's a few tears escape his eyes, looking over at Tommy as Tommy turns to look out the window. "To a place that's far from where we started, Dad, I promise will always pull through. If you're falling or even flying, I'm going to be next to you. You know it's true. I'll go anywhere for you. Anywhere for you, I'd go."
Tommy looks back over to Sam as he pulls him in for a hug. They are both crying. They sit hugging until they get home and have to get out and go inside.
"Sa- dad I love you so much, and I don't know what I'm going to do when you leave, but I had to tell you how much you mean to me. Even if you couldn't officially adopt me, you are still my dad and forever will be."
Tommy finishes, as Sam is now sitting next to him on the couch. Sam took a breath. "Tommy, son, I have always seen it in everything you do for me. I have loved you since you first came here and will love you forever, even when I do. I know it's going to get harder, and I know we will get through it in the end."
Tommy looks up to his father; there's nothing else to say. They know it's going to be hard, and time is running out, but Tommy will stay until he is forced to leave.
It's about a week later when Sam stops being able to walk. Sam is upset, trying to find a way to be at Tommy's next concert, but with him not being able to walk and his doctors refusing to let him leave the house, there is nothing they can do. Sam sighs as he shuts his computer. Tommy looks up and over at him, eating his cereal on the bar stool.
"Tommy I know you don't like it when people come over to the house," Sam starts. He's nervous that Tommy's going to say no. After all, the reason Tommy doesn't want anybody over is because every time somebody does come over, they always ask question after question. The house is the only safe space where he doesn't want to have everyone ask about the same things over and over again.
Sam always goes out to meet with his friends; he doesn't mind going out at all, but now that he can't and Phil really wants to come see how he is doing, he doesn't really have a choice but to ask Tommy if he would be okay with it. He is mostly just nervous about Wilbur asking Tommy every question under the sun when he finds out his son is one of Wilbur's favorite singers. "But my high school friend Phil, you remember me telling you about him, right?" Tommy nods already, seeing where this is going.
"He really wants to see how I'm doing, and I'm usually just able to go meet him and his boys out grabbing lunch, but..." Sam trails off. Standing up, I'm putting his bowl in the sink and walking over to Sam.
"Sam Of course he can come over and he can bring his son's too. I know how much he means to you. I don't want to take that away. I can even stay down and meet them if that's what you want. I don't mind at all, Sam."
Sam laughs a little. "I should tell you though." Tommy looks up at him with a worried look. "Wilbur, one of the twins, is a really big fan of you, and I haven't told them who you are just about you." Tommy looks up with the biggest grin on his face.
"Can I fuck with him?" and Sam laughs so hard he almost falls off the couch. Shaking his head,
"I'll warn Phil and Techno," Tommy hops off the couch and runs to his room. Sam can hear his evil laugh from down the stairs. Laughing quietly, he opens his phone and starts typing.
*Crow man*
Hey Phil My son said it was fine for y'all to come over. Does tomorrow work for y'all?
Yea, mate, that's works for us. Just send us the address, and we'll head over there around lunch.
Yea, it's ******** picnic view. Dr., I should mention to you and Techno. My son is one of Wilbur's favorite singers, and he said he wants to play a prank on him for letting y'all come over.
Really, Sam, is this way you kept him so secret, lol, and he is welcome to pull shit on Wil? That's going to be so funny to watch.
Yea, he likes his home, mostly free from everyone. With all the paparazzi hiding out everywhere, he gets overwhelmed with questions and wants one place that doesn't have them.
It sounds like a lot. I don't blame him, but I'll let Techno know. See you tomorrow, bye, mate.
Bye crow.
Sam puts down his phone tomorrow will be something, that's for sure.
