Chapter Text
Undersea Lower Palace, XX17
The ballroom filled with giggling ladies, charming men, and many others dancing along. A young boy stands at the top of the central staircase, staring, observing the scene. His father twirling his older sister around in the center of the grand room. Their mother walking about, socializing with the various guests. The young boy by the name of Gillion, stands alone, seemingly waiting. He has been waiting all night it seems, wondering when he will arrive, if at all. Just as he was losing hope, a tap on his shoulder caught him attention. Assuming a servant comes to ask if he would like a meal, he turns slowly. A figure towered over him, looking up he meets the gaze of his grandfather. The man Gillion was waiting for.
"GRANDPAPPY", Gillion shouts, hoping into his grandfather's arms.
"Well, well. Looks like someone is excited to see me." Gillion's grandfather, Finn, says, shifting Gillion into a better grasp.
"Of course, it's been quite dull lately without you lately. Papa and Mama have been having hushed conversations lately. When I try to see what they're talking about, she shushes me away telling me to work on my studies."
"And what of your sister?" Finn asked, walking out of the ballroom and down the hall.
"She keeps telling me not to worry about Papa and Mama. And that's all she talks about, otherwise she is off sneaking out to see her commoner friends." Gillion responds, as he is taken into his own sleeping quarters.
"Hey now Gillion, it's not pleasant to refer to the citizens as commoners. We are all equal in spirit, aren't we not?" Finn reprimands, placing Gillion on his bed.
"Yes grandpappy, sorry." Apologizing, looking down at his hands. Finn settling in next to him.
"Alright, no need to look so gloomy especially when you are receiving a gift." Finn suggests, reaching in his pocket.
"A gift?" Gillion questions.
"Yes Gillion, a gift." Finn states, handing Gillion a circular case.
The case, ornate, covered in alluring coral design. Splashed in teal, pick, and accents of yellow, a button fixed on its side. Pressing the button, Gillion ecstatic and full of curiosity. Slowly opening, revealing itself as a music box with a captivating tune. A miniature frogtopus sculpture whirling in the center.
"Well Gillion, do you lik-" Interrupted, Finn rushing to his feet at the commotion.
"Gillion you stay here."
"But-" Gillion attempt to rebuttal, coming to his feet.
"No, stay here and don't leave." Finn asserts, hastily leaving the room with a loud slam of the door, down the hall to investigate the screams and clamor from the ball.
