Keeping Secrets

Summary:

She told her brother she would look up some information in the Imperial database, but in order to send it to him, she has to find a way to do it without Intelligence knowing.

Notes:

This takes place shortly after "A Risky Conversation"
@commandershakarian helped me with Kailyo for this small scene.

Work Text:

After Nar Shadaa, and the events at Intelligence HQ with Zhorrid, before Tatooine

Liv walked up to one of the data consoles in Intelligence, more hidden than the others. She was looking up whatever information she could find on the names Leo had given her. After a few minutes, she heard someone walking up behind her.

“Cipher. Should you not be heading to the Spaceport for your next mission? Unless Darth Zhorrid has asked tasked you with something else. ” Keeper stated. He had decided to take a walk around HQ and make sure nothing else was amiss, when he had seen one of his Cipher agents at the console. He couldn't think of a reason for her to be there, so it made him curious.

“I will be, Keeper. As soon as I finish this search. I overheard some of the terrorists on Nar Shadaa talking to some smugglers. I’m simply looking up some of the names I overheard to see if there is any possible connection to the cells.” Liv explained. She hoped her explanation would work. She didn’t need anyone knowing the real reason she was looking up the names.

“Very well. Let Watcher Two know if you find anything.” He stated.

“Of course, Keeper.” Liv replied. Keeper left, and Liv returned to what she was doing. A few more minutes later, she transferred all the information to a datapad and deleted anything besides the search of the names. Then, if Keeper asked any further questions, the search was there, but nothing else. Once finished, she took the datapad, and headed back to her ship.

Back on the Phantom

After checking in with Watcher Two, Liv headed towards the back of the ship where Kailyo usually stayed.

“Kailyo, I need to do a couple of things without Intelligence knowing or finding out. Any suggestions on how I could do that?” she asked. Kaliyo tapped a finger to her chin, making a show out of thinking about the question.

“It sounds like you need my help, Agent. I’m already keeping your secrets, so what can you do for me ?” she asked. Liv thought for a moment.

“A number of things. What do you want in return?” she asked. Kaliyo smiled, glad to see Liv wasn’t going to play games.

“I need to find some people in your Imperial database. I can’t find them the old-fashioned way, and I want to know if they were arrested, dead, or in hiding,” she stated. Liv was silent for a moment.

“Alright. I assume you have a list?” She stated. She'd need it to make sure she found the correct information. “And would you rather I look this up before we leave for Tatooine, or once we return from Alderaan?” she asked. Kailyo was quiet for a moment, thinking.

“Before Tatooine. It gives me time to make… decisions… while you finish your spy business.” She replied. Liv paused. It shouldn’t take her too long to find what Kailyo wanted, but she needed to be sure there was a way to do what she needed to first.

“Then I’ll need your list,” Liv began. “And while I retrieve the information from the database, I suggest you figure out who we’ll need to contact for what I need.” she stated. Liv answered the obvious next question before Kailyo could reply. “Slice into, encrypt, and lock an Imperial file, so that it cannot be found without at least some help, then send a data file to a Republic Freighter.” she finished.

“I’ll check if my old slicer friend is still around on Hutta. Give me a few hours. You’ll have your answer then.” Kaliyo turned away, ready to get down to business. She had a list to compile and some calls to make.
