Red In a Black Party

Summary:

Rocky gets into a Black Ranger party.

Notes:

Written for azelmaroark who requested "Drunk Adam."
She and I have this theory that all Red and Black rangers have a bond, and I think this was meant to be written in a universe where they were all hanging out or something, I don't remember.

“Hey, who let in a Red in here?” Will asked, a frown marring his face.

“He’s not a Red,” Danny cheerfully replied, waving at Rocky. “That’s Rocky. He’s a Blue, now.”

“Well, why’s he wearing Red?” Will frowned.

“Color change. Don’t worry about.” Zack nodded. “And he’s quite needed.” Zack gently gave the man listing against his shoulder a shove. “Adam’s over here, Rocky!”

Corcus tilted his head several times, watching Rocky make his way through the lounging Black Rangers. “Hello, Rocky,” he quietly said. “What an unusual pleasure it is to see you again.”

“Hey, Corcus! Didn’t expect to see you here, too!” Rocky’s gaze redirected to Adam as he began to giggle. “Oh man.”

“It’s Roooooooooocky,” Adam slurred, reaching a grabby hand toward him. “Rooooocky.”

“Adam.” Rocky bent down in front of him and helped Zack get him sitting upright. “How much have you had to drink?”

Adam grinned. “Not much. Haaaaardly anything.” He patted Rocky’s cheek. “Dun look so sad! ‘m fiiiiiiine. Better ‘n’ fine, even.”

“I tried to keep an eye on him, like you asked,” Carlos said, sliding off the couch to help Rocky and Zack. “But, he insisted he was all right. It seems I overestimated.”

Will gave a low grunt. “He’s only had what, three beers?” He picked up a bottle near Adam and gave it a shake. “Hell, this one’s still mostly full, so barely two and a half.”

“Two and a half beers?!” Rocky cried. “No wonder he’s so gone.”

Danny blinked. “Is that a lot?” He sheepishly stared down at his little collection of empty bottles.

“It’s not a lot,” Tommy said with a nod. “Adam’s just a lightweight.” He reached out and poked Adam, grinning at the way he tilted with the poke and then rocked slowly back into place.

“Don’t do that,” Rocky chided. “C’mon Adam, let’s get you some water.”

“’m fine,” Adam protested. “’n’ I was warm ‘n’ comfy where I was seat . . . seating . . . sitting.” He tried to shove Rocky off and proceeded to lose his balance and slump into him instead. “’M havin’ fun with my friends. ‘m not drunk. ‘N’ ‘m not leavin’. You’re not even supposed t’ be here.” He gave Rocky a squeeze. “Though you shure are nice ‘n’ warm.” He nuzzled Rocky’s collar. “Mmm.”

Rocky smiled and held Adam up. “All right. I won’t make you leave. Sit back down, but . . . over here.” He pivoted and gently set Adam back down, this time between the two strong pillars that were Danny and Carlos. They each put an arm around Adam, keeping him from falling over.

Zack gave a grateful sigh and rolled his sore shoulder.

Corcus returned from the kitchen with a bottle of beer that he’d quietly refilled with water. He wordlessly handed it to Rocky with an overemphasized wink.

“Thanks.” Rocky squatted by Adam again. “You forgot your beer. Here you go.” He pressed it into Adam’s hand. “Drink it up good now.”

“Three beers,” Adam pointedly said, wagging a finger at Will. He took a deep drink of the water. “Ahhhhh!” He smacked his lips. “Toooooold you I could handle it.” He leaned into Danny, his eyes lidding heavily. “Toooold you.”

Rocky fretted. “I knew this was going to happen.”

“We’ll keep an eye on him from now on,” Danny said. He ruffled Adam’s hair affectionately. “Don’t you worry.”

Tommy squished himself into the couch, opening up a small spot between himself and Carlos. “Don’t think any of us mind if you stay, though.”

“Not at all,” Carlos agreed. He threw his other arm around Rocky when he squeezed in. “You’re Black in spirit anyway!”

Will reached across and handed Rocky a beer, then clinked their glasses together. “Cheers, mate.”

With broad grins, everyone else raised their bottles in agreement. “Cheers!”
