The mind is split
Betwixt ice and fire
Freezing up and lashing out
Fight or flight
And the heart pounds its erratic beat
Its elliptical orbit
As nerves and sinews rebel
Seizing up like a desperate plea
Like a shallow breath
And refusing to obey their master
The awkward silences surround
And the cruel gazes envelop
All they need is a reason
And like famished wolves, they close in
Mindless and heartless
They seek to give chase
Mindbroken and heartbroken
We seek to run free
Panicking and shivering
Pacing and shaking
Anxiety at its most
And bravery at its least
But how can one face their fears
When one's fears face them?
