Work Text:
Symphony was always afraid of her mother. She wouldn't try to make her angry. She would always follow the rules, respect her, behave and be a good daughter. The blue haired girl would always love her. The mother was very proud of her good daughter. She has a great mother daughter relationship.
"You ruined this family. You're nothing but a disappointment to me."
It broke her. What she felt… wasn't motherly love.
"Symphony-san? Symphony-san? SYMPHONY-SAN!!"
The girl in blue hair snapped out of her thoughts. She looks at her surroundings left and right. Right in front of her was one of her teammates, Kirika Akatsuki, Tachibana Hibiki and Kazanari Tsubasa.
She looked at the three wielders in concern.
"You were dozing off during your training, Symphony." Tsubasa says.
"Oh. Was I? I… didn't notice. I'm so sorry, I might've gotten poor sleep last night, I suppose." Symphony faked a smile.
"It's okay, Symphony-San! We were going to wrap up training for the day anyway." Hibiki responded.
"Hey, Kirika! Nice action moves there! Watching some Kamen Rider the other day did the job right!" Harmony praises.
"Really?! Thank you-dess! I enjoyed watching it-dess!" Kirika smiled.
"I don't know what got into me. One moment I'm sparring with Tsubasa and Hibiki and then the next I'm on the floor… What could've!-"
Symphony realized and her eyes grew wide.
"Of course… Those memories keep popping up in my head… remembering the pain and suffering I once dealt with before I met Sakura and the others. They rather not find out about this… I don't want to cause any trouble for them, after all."
"Symphony."
Tsubasa called her name. Symphony came back to reality.
"Oh I'm so sorry, Tsubasa! I must've dozed off again!"
"You don't have to apologize. It's no worries, Symphony." Tsubasa reassured her.
Hibiki, Kirika and Harmony walked up to the two girls in blue. The gandiva wielder noticed something off of Symphony. She drags Tsubasa away from the group.
"Wha- Hoshino?" Tsubsa was startled.
"Come with me, Tsubasa."
Harmony dragged her all the way out of the simulation room where the other girls couldn’t see her.
"Don't you think that Symphony is acting a bit strange to you?" Harmony asked.
"I don't believe so, no." Tsubasa replied.
"Symphony isn't the type who would be cheerful. And I know that. When Sakura introduced her to me, she was very formal. And scared of the people she meets. Almost like she didn't want to be hurt." Harmony implied.
"Wait. What do you mean by scared and hurt, Hoshino?"
"She was getting distracted in her thoughts right?" She asks.
Tsubasa nods.
"Maybe it has to do with-"
"Tsubasa-san! Harmony-chan!"
Hibiki was running towards the two girls. But… something wasn't right. She had a worried expression on her face.
"Tachibana? What's going o-"
"It's Symphony-san!"
Tsubasa and Harmony looked each other. Then ran back to the simulation room with Hibiki.
Once they made it back to the room, they saw Symphony on the ground. She was holding her phone in her hand, crying…
"What happened?" Harmony asks.
"Symphony-san suddenly got a call from a woman-dess. She said she wanted to get her family back together-dess." Kirika explained.
"When Symphony-san said no, the woman said really mean things to her." Hibiki frowned.
Harmony's eyes grew wide. It was so obvious who it was.
"Hoshino, could it be-"
"Yeah. Just as I thought. That horrible person would be crawling back into Symphony's life."
Harmony walked upto Symphony and helped her stand up. Symphony looked at her friend in tears. She never thought her mother would contact her back after a year of no contact. Harmony pulled her into a hug.
Tears came down Symphony's face.
Memories started to go through her head.
All the painful memories.
"MOTHER PLEASE! I'M SO SORRY! I'LL BE GOOD NEXT TIME I PROMISE!" Symphony cried.
"You ungrateful BITCH!"
Aoi slapped her across the face hard, leaving a red mark on Symphony's face. The blue haired 16 year old girl cried in tears. She was sacred.
Aoi continued to hit her everywhere. Her back and her arms. Anywhere that would cause her pain. Symphony's cries grew even bigger. Her mom would kick her as hard as she could. Leaving bruises on Symphony's body.
Of course she was in pain. Living in pain for years. She was… very afraid.
"You're so ungrateful and useless, Symphony. Why can't you be like your friend, Akari-chan? Instead you would talk back to me! You know that makes mommy mad. And you do not want to see me get angry, sweetheart."
Aoi kicked her daughter as Symphony was trying to get up.
"P-please stop, mother… I-I promise I won't talk back to you again…!" Symphony cries.
"Apologies don't cut it in this household."
The dark blue haired woman picked up her bruised daughter from the floor, holding her hard from her arm. Symphony was terrified. She never told anyone about the abuse. Not even her dad and sister. She didn't want to become a burden to others.
She was just used to it.
"You're so difficult, Symphony. I sometimes wish I didn't gave birth to you."
Symphony hugged Harmony tighter. She bursted into tears. The girls were confused and worried about her. Who was this strange women calling her teammate. Calling her mean things.
It hurt her.
