Chapter Text

Prologue:No need for a shaken earth.

12AM July 17th 1999AD

The repurposed gunship re-entered the Earth's atmosphere. Its crew held on with dear life as it cut across Europe, the Atlantic then the south pacific before slamming into South Atria Island with explosive force. The residents of Banjo Island took cover when it happened. Minutes after that they could see a huge column of smoke rising from that island. Miron Pham, the blonde haired special obsever from the UN, frowned at the column as strange form of electricity coursed through the smoke, picked up her satellite phone and called the crash in.

"Hello? UN Headquarters! This is Doctor Pham." The blonde blurted.

"What's going on, Doctor. Its really early." The other person on the line.

Get me the Under Secretary General!" Miriam blurted over the line as she gazed out at the smoke column rising up from the island not to far from Banjo Island. "Something big just made a forced landing on South Atria Island!"

"Let me put you on hold for a moment." The other person said.

Washu meanwhile blinked as she looked at a reading on her panel in her lab. She tapped a few keys on her holo keyboard then gasped. "It can't be..."

Around 6AM the phone rang at the Masaki household. Ayeka trotted over to the phone and answered it. "Masaki residence? Why yes Yosho is here. I'll get him."

Ayeka went into the family room, whispered to Yosho who was looking at the paper, and stepped back when Yosho trudged over to the phone.

"What's up?" Tenchi asked

"It's probably related to why the Great Tree reacted..." Ayeka mused

"Oh, hey. Been awhile." Yosho spoke.

Everytone was horrified at Yosho's casual tone, but the other man didn't mind.

"Something....large crashed into an island in the south pacific." The heavenly sovereign noted.

"A alien ship?" Yosho noted.

"We think so..." The heavenly sovereign noted. "I think OUR people, both yours and mine, might need to have a talk, old friend."

"Very well." Yosho replied. "Just me for the initial meeting?"

"Yes. Perhaps bring your scientist friend. She...might shed some light on the situation." The heavenly sovereign noted.

"Agreed. Today?" Yosho asked

"Please!" he replied. "I'll send a helicopter shortly."

"I'll be there then." Yosho replied, put the phone down in the cradle and walked over to Washu's door. He knocked on it and the door opened with a cling-cling of the crab bells that were affixed to the door.

Washu emerged with a wry smile. "Something big just happened."

"Indeed. The Emperor and the Prime minister wants to see just the two of us." Yosho replied.

"Grandpa?" Tenchi blinked.

"Keep everyone here for now." Yosho advised.

"Right." Tenchi nodded.

Later.

Both Yosho and Washu looked over the aerial images of the wreckage in what remains of South Atria Island. It left a large crater in its wake when it crashlanded into the small island. Sitting on the other side of the table was the emperor and a blonde haired scientist.

"This is the ship?" Yosho asked.

"Yes." Gina Bartlow nodded. "It's the largest object we've ever seen fall from the sky yet. its about 1200 meters long."

Washu noted, "The fact it landed mostly intact is concerning. Either they had force fields, or the hull was tough as hell."

"Witnesses have stated seeing electrical arcs coursing through the smoke column after the impact." Gina Bartlow noted

"Have the survivors attempted communication?" Washu asked

"They have..." Gina nodded. "But we its in a language we don't understand. We have a recording from them."

"Can I hear it?" Washu asked.

"Yes."

Gina pressed a button on a nearby tape recorder and a woman spoke. "If anyone can here us...the is the UGSN Megalord 1. I repeat this the UGSN 1 and we are in need of your assistance. We have many wounded here."

"There's wounded...they need assistance," Washu frowned.

The Emperor nodded. "I see. I'll inform our allies."

"We might need you there as a translator." Gina smiled contritely at Washu.

"Whaaat?" Washu made a face.

"Please, Washu-san," the Emperor added respectfully.

"Well. I was going to look anyway, so...." Washu sighed

"Thank you." The Emperor smiled. "We have some people nearby who can help too."

"Mrs Pham from Banjo Island I take it?" Washu grinned.

"Yes." The prime minister nodded. "Is that all?"

"Well apparently the ship has some dignitaries that need to be escorted to safety." Yosho noted then sighed. "Jurai royalty to be exact. We'd like to have that taken care of as well."

"Perhaps they can shed some light on the matter as to why they crashed here." Washu noted.

"Yes its very concerning." Yosho nodded.

"Indeed." The government officials nodded.

10:00GST September 2nd 2002AD
Emperors Palace Tokyo Japan.

Days later, the news was out about the crash and rumors were swirling about what this could have meant. Because of the rumors that were flying the emperor called upon Yosho once again and requested that they speak with the leaders of the Galactic Federation. Emperor Azusa Jurai, his wives Funaho and Misaki, Mikami Kuramitsu sat on one side of the table. Kaho Francoix, a woman with curly blonde hair, was representing the Gallian Alliance which was a part of the Galactic Federation. On the oher side sat the prime minister of japan and a representative from the crashed ship sat on the other side. Katherine Ageni, representing Archangel, Washu and Gina Bartlow sat on either side of the Belkan woman who was sitting amongst the humans. She wore an odd traslator device, which had a pair of bulbous hands and a face, on a chain around her neck.

"We're glad that you good speak with us so quickly sir," The Emperor of Japan bowed respectfully to Azusa.

"Mm." Azusa nodded then glanced over at Katherine. "May I ask why is a civilian here?"

"I'm an expert on alien encounters, sir," Katherine nodded then mused. "My company was called in on by the Emperor to study and deal with a few localized incidents in Tokyo."

"...and when did these occur?"

"A decade before Miss Ryouko was awakened." Katherine noted.

"I see." Azusa nodded then frowned. "I'll have to inquire with my son as to what these incidents were about."

"Of course." Katherine nodded.

"So. Humanity is very...agitated about the possibility of aliens?" Azusa noted, having studied the news

"THe UN is seeking unification." The emperor noted. "Otheres are against unifying."

"I see. This is most troubling." Azusa frowned. "I have to inform you that we can't interfere in your internal politics, sir."

"I see." The emperor nodded.

"Aren't you already doing that, talking to Japan?" Washu noted archly.

"That is Yosho's fault for opening communications."

"Ah." Washu nodded.

"We were going to pick a represtentative for earth for the federation soon, too," Funaho noted.

"Mmm." They all nod.

"To be frank...may we ask WHY you crashlanded here on this planet?" Azusa frowned at the green haired woman. "Earth is a protectorate of ours."

"Azusa." Kaho frowned at Azusa's question.

<

> Lindy Harlowun stated through the device. <<"It seemed that it tapped into navigational coordinates that were still
locked into this ships memory cores. Its possible that the previous civilization visited this planet once before.>>

Gina eagerly added, "If that's so, it could have incredible implications!"

"It is possible that the previous race visited earth briefly." Washu noted then grinned at Yosho. "Long long before Jurai was settled even."

"What was your mission?" Kaho asked Lindy while Azusa looking very dubious at Washu's observation.

"We were actually transporting some local refugees from their planet to another when we were encountered by the giant's fleet." Lindy sighed

"Well, you're stuck here for now," Washu noted

Lindy sighed.

"This could attract more pirates in the area." Serenity noted.

"Indeed." Funaho nodded.

"I'll leave this to you..." Azusa glanced at the Emperor of Japan then sighed. "I'll have to inform the federation that a ship has crash-landed on the earth. They may rule for its removal...."

"I see." The emperor nodded.

"You know how I feel about this sector Azusa." Kaho noted then gestured to them. "...and it seems the New Belkans have tapped into very old technology. Give them a chance."

"The giants could seek this old technology out." Washu noted then gestured to the paper. "...and the humans are about to fight over it too."

"Thats why they might consider its removal." Azusa frowned.

"I thought your rules were you can't overtly interfere? A alien fleet ariving to pick it up would mess up our culture badly, too," Gina noted

"Who says we need an alien fleet." Washu noted.

"Azusa....may I remind you that it was you who decided to bottle up the giants in this sector." Kaho noted.

The others sighed while Azusa glared at Kaho.

"Kaho, old friend, NOT here." Azusa warned her.

"Very well." Kaho sighed.

2003AD South Atria Island.

After the initial survey of the wreck, scientist teams returned two years later to pour over the ship while the UN Guarded the island with a small flotilla of ships. The alien refugees were in small camps not to far from the ship and buildings and structures were already constructed for the scientists and the military observers who were already on the island.

Gina Bartlow, A blonde haired new belkan tech and Washu walked up to the ship as it was being worked on.

"It's surprisingly intact, really." Washu noted.

"It's a wreck!" Gina noted observing the cracks and rents in the armored hull of the ship.

"See how YOU would look after reentry." The blonde snorted

".... point." Gina sighed.

"Are you really going to repair this ship?" Washu asked.

"That's the plan." Gina and the tech nodded.

"Well then..." Washu tapped her chin then noted. "It will be critical to rebuild the hull with as much original salvage as possible."

"Oh?" Gina blinked.

"Earth can't replicate the hull material. It's beyond your tech," Washu added. Gina frowned and nodded. There was a chance to study how to make the hull material but if materials were limited this is what they were left with.

"We could help with that but our engineering ships are still locked down in orbit in New Belka." The tech noted.

"...and even if they could send for a ship that signal might be intercepted by the zentradi." Washu noted.

"Aye." The engineer nodded. "We're trying to repair the fold communication antenna's but even so..."

"Yep. I suggest we bring every tech hand to get this ship up and running." Washu noted. "Even the ones from the refugee camps. I'm sure they could lend a hand too."

"How long do you think it'll take to repair?" Gina asked.

"Oh, 20 years. Maybe less if we're lucky." Washu guessed.

"Can we make it to 15 or maybe 10. That estimate won't make my bosses happy." Gina sighed.

"Do your bosses want them to go this badly?" Washu teased.

"No." Gina sighed. "They don't like cost overruns...."

"We know how that goes." The engineer sighed.

"Indeed." Washu nodded.

They all turned back to look at the ship that was being worked on. The tech sighed and smiled gently as she looked at the ship. "I'm surprised the Galactic Federation relented on us and this ship."

"They're still not happy that you landed on the Earth." Washu noted then smirked at them. "But a man and a woman who recently returned from deep space gave them a few things to reflect on. "

"Who?" The tech blinked.

"Lum and Ataru Moroboshi." Gina grinned then explained to the tech. "Ataru's now our representative in the galactic federation while Lum is being an emissary for the surviving Urusians here. We have some backing from Jurai now too."

"I've heard him being mentioned by some of the refugees here an there," the tech noted then smiled a bit. "Well at least we can work together if not remotely."

"Yeah." Washu nodded
