A knock sounded on the wood door, the dull thumps echoing through the house. A shaky hand reached for the handle, hesitating before pulling it open. The woman, probably in her 40’s, looked up at the figure that stood in front of her.
A black cloak draped over their shoulders, hiding the clothes underneath. A hood was pulled over their head, shrouding their face in shadow. A curved beak protruded from the hood, connecting to a mask that covered the rest of their face, the glass eyes colored red.
The woman stepped away from the door and gestured from the person to enter. They nodded at her before stepping into the house.
“Please, follow me.” The woman said, her voice ragged.
She turned and led them further into the house to where a bed was set up in the corner. She flinched as a gloved hand was set onto her shoulder. She turned to look up at the looking figure.
“Please,” she whispered. “Help him.”
The person looked down at her for a moment, remaining silent.
“I will do my best,” a distinctly male voice said.
The woman stepped back and let the man approach the bed. She watched as the man pulled out a vial and slowly got the man to drink the cloudy liquid. She looked on with confusion, unsure of what the man was doing. She hadn’t heard of any cures like what he had, but she wasn’t going to question.
The cloaked man pulled out another vial and pressed it into her hands. She gripped onto it and stared up at him in confusion.
“If you ever start to feel any symptoms, drink this,” the man told her.
She nodded and watched as he made his way towards the door.
“Will he be alright?” She asked, her voice trembling.
The man looked back at her, his red eyes seeming to glow.
“He will be at peace,” he said before walking out of the house, closing the door behind him.
