A Forgotten Record

Summary:

Kim Rok Soo knows how to fight.
His hyungs taught him how to.
And then they left. He refused to pick up a sword again.

Raon was worried because Naru was the only one on their group that didn't know how to fight, but Naru knows how to fight.

Notes:

This is based on a headcannon I once posted on Tumblr.
Basically: KRS!Cale knows how to fight melee and how to use a sword.
LSH and CJS taught him how to use a sword so KRS's sword technique is a mix of CJS and LSH swords techniques. Ever since the both of them died KRS never used a sword again.

It's my first time trying to write a fighting scene, please cut me some slack.

This is a fic of RFD's fic "Treasure Of The (Vampire) Duke's Family" so please go read it too.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

"Weak kid, you need to learn how to fight, you're what to weak so you should at least —"

"But I already know how to?"

"But least time that bad guy said your ability with the stone spear was terrible"

"Because I don't fight with spears."

"So you fight with what?"

Naru should've just stayed quiet and let the black dragon talk bad about him, it would have been easier. Now here he was, right in front of Vicross, both of them with their swords in hand.

And to top it all off all the crew decided to gather to see this so called sparring match and even his damn father and Solena where there to watch this shit show.

Naru sighed.

He didn't want to be doing his. He hated holding a sword. It felt like it was burning his hands. Some unwanted records where threatening to resurface.

He frowned more and shook his head.

Choi Han looked worried between the torture expert and the small vampire child. He was the judge.

"You two ready?"

"Yes." Naru fixed his posture for the last time.

"Of course."

"Begin!"

Vicross made the first move, heading straight forward with a lateral cut. Naru dodged it by lowering himself and cutting upwards.

'Is eyes are weird.'

It really was weird to Vicross. Naru's eyes almost didn't look human. He wasn't human to begin with, of course, but this was something else. This was something scary in a way that Vicross couldn't exactly explain.

But that was not all, his sword style didn't remember any other in neither the western or eastern continents. It did however somehow kind of remember Choi Han sword art.

It was weird. Naru's sword style really made Choi Han think of his family sword art. The sword art they've been studying for generations. But it was also different, more vicious. Is almost looked like it could cut through anything. Choi Han could hear the sound of the sword cutting though the wind. Naru was fast and precise, he was aiming for Vicross openings without fail, but it also seemed like he was holding himself back. Choi Han was sure that this kid could win if he was really trying to. It all made Choi Han remember of all those times where Naru seemed distant, as if a invisible wall kept him separated from all the others, and now Choi Han was asking himself yet again: how much of Naru all of them truly knew? The kid who's fooling the White Star, the kid who's hiding almost all of his own existence, the kid who was pretending to be weak, but was showing such a vicious side in this fight. Who truly is Naru Von Ejellan?

"What do you think, duke-nim?" Asked Solena while discreetly squeezing the fabric of her skirt. Even though she knew Naru was stronger than that human because her young master was actually a perfectly healthy vampire and a Von Ejellan, she still couldn't help but worry.

"It truly makes me wonder... Perhaps I should ask about it later..."

It also made Fredo worry.

He didn't know about the others, but Fredo was quite old and saw many bloody and messy battles. He saw massacres happen. He saw warriors. He saw survivors. He have seen a lot.

He was worried about what he saw on his son's eyes. It looked completely void of emotions, almost... Dead. It was different from his son usual stoicity. It made him think of those machines the flame dwarfs build.

Naru was showing obvious signs of someone who have been in the battlefield before, but it also didn't look that the sword was really his son best weapon.

It made Fredo smile.

Knowing his son, someone probably forced him to learn how to wield a sword and Fredo could tell that he learned well even though he probably looked like he was half paying attention and undoubtedly complained a lot.

Thinking about all that made Fredo wonder exactly what kind of life his son was living before becoming Naru. Thinking about it made Fredo curious about the people who took care and looked after Naru at that time. He didn't know a lot, just that his son once had to hyungs. Despise knowing so little, Fredo was thankful that they took care of his son.

Fredo wanted to know more about them, but he also didn't want to risk poking his son's wounds.

It truly was weird, those parental feeling and instincts.

Fredo had a weird smile on his face.

'Naru Von Ejellan, my son, my little enigma...'

Clang!

"I gave up."

Fredo blinked and refocused his eyes on the sparring match.

His son have both his hands up in surrender, his sword besides his right feet, small droplets of sweat in his forehead and breathing slightly uneven.

He moved his eyes to the younger Molan.

Vi Ross eyes were slightly widened in surprised while looking at his great sword that seemed to have been ripped from his hands.

Fredo smiled proudly, fangs showing.

'How truly interesting...'
