Cheaters Don't Deserve to be Happy

Summary:

Bakugo is caught cheating on Izuku, and Shoto isn't too happy about it.

Notes:

Day 2: Cheating
Also, I am using the English spelling for Shoto's name. In japanese it has a 'u' but I didn't add that this time around.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

No One Pov:

Izuku sat at a table hidden in the back corner of the bar. Dried tear tracks stained his freckled cheeks. That didn’t matter to him in the moment. Nothing really did. His whole world had crumbled in mere seconds just a few hours prior.

Three Hours Earlier

Keys jingled in the lock as Izuku finally got home. It was his and Kaachan’s two-year anniversary. He planned on proposing after surprising his Kaachan with a homecooked meal under the candlelight. Their house had the perfect scenery outside and inside for special occasions like this. It’s one of the reasons why they chose this one.

The lights in the house were on when Izuku finally entered with his grocery bags. Huh. He must’ve forgotten to turn them off earlier when he left for work. Kaachan wouldn’t be happy, but he would hold off on telling him until the next day. Nothing was going to ruin his surprise or this day if he could help it.

Kaachan’s shoes lay haphazardly by the door and his coat was on the floor. It just missed the hook from the looks of it. Izuku didn’t think Kaachan came home early. So maybe he just chose to change shoes and had to leave in a hurry. Izuku proceeded past the entryway and into the living room.

A familiar looking piece of hero costume lay against the back of the couch. It was Kirishima’s. That was unusual. All of their friends knew that today was a special day and made plans without the two. The usual group plans for Friday were changed to move around their separate plans. Not that Kaachan knew that yet. Izuku figured that maybe Kirishima accidentally left one of his spare uniforms here and didn’t ever come get it.

Izuku’s nerves began to rise the more he noticed other things out of place in his and Kaachan’s home. The further he proceeded, the more he noticed. Clothing was messily laying in different random places leading up the stairs. The flowery vase that had orange roses in it was knocked to the ground. There was water and wilted flowers surrounding it. A faint smell of instant ramen was wafting through the air. Though it was barely present, he could still smell it. More and more doubt and fear arose inside of Izuku’s heart at the evidence lying about in his home. A creeping sense of dread began to rise with the fear and doubt. Izuku knows that Kaachan would never cheat, he promised. But then, what was really going on?

The house had been clean and pristine when Izuku left for work at the agency earlier in the day. He knew this before he was always the first one to leave and made sure everything looked fine before he left. Kaachan would make a fuss otherwise. And Izuku knew for a fact that they always turned out the lights when they left. Neither ever forgot. It was also strange that Kirishima’s hero uniform was here when he hadn’t been there since the previous Thursday. Kirishima also never wore his costume over.

A barely heard noise falls into the silent air as Izuku starts for the stairs. The house had three floors, and the master bedroom was on the second. As Izuku got closer, he heard the sounds getting louder. It sounded like something Izuku heard every single night before bed.

“He wouldn’t. There’s no way.” Izuku whispered as he approached the door that stood slightly ajar.

He very slowly and quietly pushed against it to get a better view on what’s happening inside of the room. Tears welled up inside of his eyes as Izuku gazed upon the forms of Kirishima and Kaachan. The two were entangled in each other’s arms as they were in the middle of what looked like the third round of se- Izuku couldn’t even finish his thought. He quickly backed up and ran down the stairs; no longer caring about how much noise he made. One for All guiding him out the door and back into the safety of his car. More tears fell down his face as he sent a text to his best friend.

Izuku gave himself a few minutes to bawl his eyes out as he started the car and pulled out of the driveway.

Present Time

That brought him to now. Dried up tear tracks, a mug of beer, a dark and quiet corner, and waiting for his best friend to show up. There wasn’t much to do and now Izuku had nowhere to stay either. Shoto would be at the bar in a couple of minutes, and then he can finally have the comfort he needs.

His thoughts paused as familiar arms wrapped around Izuku.

Izuku Pov:

I look at Shoto with renewed tears and pushed my body into his arms that had wrapped around my left side. Tremors flowed throughout every inch of my body the more I cried. Shoto gripped me tighter and spoke silent words of comfort. I knew what he was doing. I’m the only one who’s ever understood Shoto’s way of comforting.

About twenty minutes later, I pulled slightly away from Shoto. It was just enough to look into his unique heterochromia eyes. They were beautiful, but Shoto didn’t think so.

“Are you ready to tell me what’s going on or do you need a little bit longer?” Shoto asked with the deeper voice he’s gotten since UA.

I just look away ashamed of what I found. It was going to be painful retelling what I found, but I needed to tell someone.

“I found Kaachan, no, Bakugo, cheating on me. He did it with Kirishima because of course he did. They didn’t even bother hiding any of the evidence. I don’t even think either of them noticed me. Not even after I stormed out and left. He had to do it on our anniversary too. Everything was supposed to be perfect.” Tears found their way back into my eyes as the energy I had quickly left my body once more. Silence followed.

Shoto hadn’t responded to my words yet, but I could feel him getting warmer by the second.

“I think we should ‘cancel’ the Friday meetup entirely for today and meetup with the others in order to come up with an appropriate revenge plan.” His tone was clipped and to the point.

“We don’t have to do that Sho. He probably had a good reason for breaking my heart into a million pieces. Besides, if the media finds out that the wonder duo is over, they’ll have a riot.” I shake my head sadly and curled in on myself.

Shoto pulled out his phone and typed a message, before sending it out. My phone buzzed with a new notification.

“Did you not hear me Sho? The media will have a field day if this gets out and I don’t want Bakugo to know I found out.” I tried to plead out to him.

“I’ve made up my mind Izu. We are getting revenge. It’s easy hiding from the media, it’ll work with the plan I’m forming. Same with Bakugo. Neither will know what hit them.”

I sigh and just accept that my best friend was going to get revenge for me.

Multiple buzzes went off at once on both my phone and Shoto’s. I pulled mine out to take a look.

The Real Ones

Shoto has added Izuku, Ochako, Denki, Tenya, and 10 others to the groupchat.

Shoto: I have come upon some unfortunate news, and I am initiating a code fire and ice. The weekly meetup is cancelled. Meet at my house at seven thirty sharp and don’t be late.

Ochako: What’s going on? I thought tonight was Izuku’s and Bakugo’s anniversary.

Mina: Yeah. What gives? I totally already had an outfit planned already.

Denki: A code fire and ice? Shiiiiit. What the hell did Bakugo do? Or, rather, who did he do it with?

Tenya: My thoughts exactly.

Tsuyu: I have a feeling things are going to get messy. Ribbit.

Momo: I believe you are absolutely right.

Fumikage: Dark shadow and I will bring the snacks.

Izuku: What is code fire and ice?

+++

I look up at Shoto in curiosity and confusion. “Since when is this code a thing?”

Shoto looked at me with a shameless face. “I came up with a code system as soon as you and Bakugo got together two years ago. It was only ever meant to make sure you were happy, healthy, and safe. There are different colors for the code. Fire and Ice means that he got caught cheating with another member of the group. That’s all you need to be informed of for now.”

A whole code created for my happiness, health, and safety. My friends are the craziest people I have ever met.

“Well, I guess we should leave the bar then. I don’t really want to be here anymore and there’s a meeting we have to get to.”

The End
