“So what am I looking at exactly?”
“It’s a fish, Lee.”
“Yeah but what kind of fish?”
“It’s a beluga sturgeon; it’s the largest freshwater fish,” Noct replies.
“Have you caught one before?”
“Not yet. The farthest north my dad ever took me fishing was the Vesperpool, and there aren’t any beluga sturgeon there.”
“Oh-“
“They’re also really really really heavy. Like Sania said that most marine biologists estimate that it can weigh almost 4,000 pounds when full grow.”
Leon nudges Noct’s shoulder. “Professor Yeager, babe.”
Noct nods but keeps going. “Yeah so apparently the largest one caught on record was over 23 feet long, but that was almost 200 years ago.”
“Really?”
“Yeah so clearly I’ll be the next person to catch the next one. I’ve caught like six arapaima so I could totally do it.”
“Okay but babe the last time you caught an arapaima it was only like an inch taller than me. A 23 foot sturgeon is like the size of a bus.”
“Lee, don’t crush my dreams dude.”
“I just don’t want you to get your hopes up too high, babe.”
Noct wrinkles his nose. “C’mon there’s like 50 more fish here that I want you to see.”
Leon smiles. “Lead the way.”
