Work Text:
The sky was dark and stormy, and it looked like lightning might strike at any moment. Rain splashed against the stone, soaking it. Scar was desperately trying to get back to his base, but the slippery ground was proving to be an issue. He had to carefully choose where to step to avoid slipping, and that slowed him down. He was getting soaked, he wanted to go faster, but if he slipped, that would slow him down by a lot.
Reaching a steep downhill, he stopped. This area would be difficult enough to traverse when it was dry, let alone now, with miniature waterfalls running down it. He’d have to go another way. He couldn't see far in the rain, but he could tell the mountain was to his left, so that meant the beach was to his right. Turning, he began to head down the rocks that way, already annoyed about having to get the wet sand out his shoes.
Scar reached the edge of the beach, with the palm trees swaying wildly overhead. Out of breath, he stopped for a moment, leaning against a boulder. This turned out to be a mistake, as a bolt of lightning shot out of the sky, striking him. It blazed through his veins, and it felt like every fibre of him was on fire. He screamed and fell away from the rock.
Suddenly, the vex’s magic kicks in, trying to dispel the lightning. It stops hurting, but he’s dizzy, and something feels off. He staggers to his feet, and another bolt of lightning hits a tree near him, setting it on fire. Scar stumbles away from it in shock, and realises that he really needs to get out of here.
The rain soon extinguishes the tree, but lightning had struck the nearby area again, this time hitting the ocean. Scar attempts to draw upon the vex magic, so he can go faster. It doesn’t work. Something else happens instead. It feels like lightning is coursing through him again, and his feet seem to be lifting off the ground. He attempts to run, and zooms down the beach, like he’s become a bolt of lightning himself. Almost immediately, he reaches his home, and it occurs to him he doesn’t know how to stop. He tries to turn his magic off, and crashes headfirst into the sand, tumbling down the beach.
It takes a few moments for him to get back up, and it is immediately obvious that he is covered in sand. He sighs, attempts to shake it off, fails, then finally gets to his feet, and heads inside. The inside of his base is much warmer than the outside, due to it being an active volcano. The bubbling pools of magma radiate heat throughout the entire area. Scar sits down near one of the pools, and starts trying to pull sand out of hair, and brush it off his clothes. As he does this, he notices that there is some new scarring on his hands.
It has the blue of vex magic, but it looks like a lightning scar. It seems to not just be on his hands, running up his arms as well. He realises that if he focuses, he can still feel the lightning that seems to be residing in his veins now. He tries to draw on it, and sparks burst out his hands, dancing between his fingertips. Scar stares at it in awe, somewhat mesmerized. Then, he tries to active the vex magic, and instead of the normal blue glimmering energy it normally is, it turns the lightning blue. This is fascinating, but hes tired, and really needs to get some rest. He’ll tell Cub about this tomorrow.
