"Kyum."
Na-kyum jolted awake at the sound of Seungho's voice. He turned, noticing that the noble was sitting right behind him. At some point in time when he had fallen asleep, the other had settled at the spot he was previously waiting at, lifting him to nestle him on his lap. His hands, warm and gentle, were wrapped firmly around his abdominal area.
"My lord, you're back..." He murmured, smiling faintly. "Was there anything of concern?"
The noble immediately looked annoyed, pressing his chin on Na-kyum's shoulder.
"It's not even worth thinking about. Those goons had the gall to call me back for such a small matter." Seungho grumbled, and Na-kyum chuckled lightly at the grumpy face the noble was making. He watched as the noble retrieved a small bag from his possessions, placing it gently on Na-kyum's hands.
"This is for you. I didn't want to wake you, but I was afraid it would spoil if you don't have it now."
As the ribbon was undone and the cloth fell away, Na-kyum could hardly contain his excitement. "Yakgwa?"
"Mm. Eat up." Seungho picked one up, slotting it into Na-kyum's mouth.
Eyes lighting up, Na-kyum chewed quickly, savouring the familiar taste.
Perhaps it was because of the warmth from the noble, but Na-kyum found his face reddening as he continued to look out at the yard, where the dark sky was illuminated faintly by moonlight. He hadn't been able to sleep properly when Seungho was away, but now that he was here, with snacks, even - a reminder that he thought of him - Na-kyum felt oddly relieved. He scooted his back to press against Seungho's chest, all traces of sleepiness now left his system.
"More?" The noble asked.
"Yes, please..."
He's quickly fed another piece. Seungho smiled as he gazed upon him. "What is that you're holding?"
"A flower that came from the garden. It dropped from the bunch it was growing with, so I picked it up..." Na-kyum spoke, giving it to him. It had a nice colour, and spun around prettily in his hands.
There's a swift motion of something being pressed into his hair, near his ear. Na-kyum said nothing, making a curious sound.
"I thought it would complement you so. Heed it no mind." Seungho hummed, lightly brushing his thumb against his face. The warmth of his palm felt comforting, and Na-kyum leaned silently against it, comfortable with the touch.
"My lord..."
"What is it?" The other asked, staring at him with a look so gentle it prompted him to divulge himself. It was so different when they first met, and he could still vividly remember the chaotic absurdity of it all - an endless pit of fear consuming him at the sight of his lustful gaze. They were different now. Seungho made a promise, and apologized in his own way. He had changed, speaking to him and revealing his thoughts for even the most trivial things - making Na-kyum's heart so full whenever they were together.
"I feel bad feasting on it all by myself. Have one, too." He turned to face him, using his legs to straddle Seungho's hips. The blush on his face felt searing - was it the effect of having not seen him for so long? His heart was beating abnormally fast.
"I'm not quite fond of these treats."
"Just one. Please, my lord..." Raising the honey cookie to him garnered no reaction. Mulling it over for a while, Na-kyum then carefully held one-half of the snack sandwiched between his lips, leaning close to Seungho, as if hinting at him to take the other half.
How scheming... it was clear that he wouldn't have the heart to reject such an offer, and Na-kyum knew that very well.
Seungho's gaze flitted loosely, from the treat to Na-kyum's face. With a defeated look, he parted his lips, and Na-kyum visibly brightened upon pushing half the snack into his mouth, letting their lips lock together.
The treat was far too sweet for his liking. But Seungho was left oddly speechless as he watched Na-kyum, whose rosy cheeks were stuffed full as he ate his half of the cookie rather blissfully. Swallowing, the other looked up at him with a soft smile.
How peculiar it was, that he felt as though he could eat more of those, if it meant he could see him like this.
"Was it good?" Na-kyum asked expectantly.
"Not nearly as sweet as you."
Seeing his toothy grin, Seungho sighed. "Now my lips are all sticky..."
"My lord, do you want me to help with that?" Na-kyum perked up, revealing a sliver of his tongue quite cheekily.
"How on earth will you help? In fact, you'll probably make it stickier if you even put your mouth near mine."
Na-kyum chuckled. "You figured it out."
"So you were plotting something. Pray tell, what kind of punishment would you like?" Seungho squished his cheeks together, puckering his lips.
"Ah! I wouldn't dare!" Na-kyum went along with it, flailing his loose clothing slightly. "Please have mercy on me, my lord..."
The night was full of light teasing, soft conversations and eventually kisses. Later in the night, Seungho would find himself begrudgingly rinsing spots all over his body to get rid of the sticky feel on his skin, while Na-kyum watched rather unapologetically (before being pulled to rinse off as well).
Laying together in bed, Seungho stared silently at Na-kyum, who looked half-asleep at that point. His hands ran through the other's soft hair, fingers sliding down to caress the back of his neck.
He's cold...
Without even realising, he found himself shifting closer to hold him.
"I was thinking, all this time. If I should call you something other than your name." He confessed quietly.
"Is there anything wrong with my name?" Na-kyum asked, his voice slurring slightly as he struggled to keep his eyes open. The way he was now, with his cheeks dusted in a light shade of pink, and body so comfortable it pressed unfalteringly against him, felt almost honourable.
I don't scare him now, that thought settled in Seungho's mind, and he couldn't help the tinge of pride which swelled inside him.
"Nothing. I quite like it, actually." Seungho held a teasing smirk. The noble considered it for another moment. "But what would you suggest I call you? My fiancé? My Lord? Mine?"
"'My lord'?" Na-kyum repeated, bursting into a light fit of giggles. It seemed like he was more conscious now, sitting up to look at him.
"I do wish... You were a noble." Seungho continued. "You are fine as you are now. But had you been one, perhaps you wouldn't have been called all those names, or mistreated."
Feeling Seungho gently press the gat on his head, Na-kyum's eyes widened, his lips parting slightly as he flushed. He took it off and returned it to him, heart beating furiously.
"Even so, I'm already happy as I am, now." He beamed. "To have a person who would love and protect me with all their heart... That is enough for me."
"... Is that right."
How was it possible to feel so fond, and so protective for someone? Seungho's fists balled up on the mattress, and he tried to calm himself as he hugged Na-kyum to himself endearingly.
If there ever came to be a day where he were to hurt him, like before...
"L- Lord Seungho?"
Seungho leaned in, kissing him tenderly on the lips.
Surely, he wouldn't forgive himself.
