Adam let out a loud peal of laughter, the sound a relief to Gerard because it completely dissolved the tension in the room. “Next time I’ll just let it ring and pretend like I was too busy to answer. Got it.”

Work Text:

A seven paneled rustically styled comic that is fully colored in warm earth tones. It features cartoonish renderings of Gerard Way and Adam Lazzara, who are caught in the midst of a conversation. Gerard is seated at a desk with a tablet on his lap and an annoyed expression on his face, while Adam is standing opposite him with an exaggeratedly apologetic air about him. Here is the original excerpt from heart like a house that is illustrated: “Two rings and you hit the fuck you button? That was cold. I thought we had something.” “Right. I probably…threw a wrench in my plan to woo you, huh?” Gerard rolled his eyes. “I did not miss your jokes.” “I really screwed up, didn’t I?” Gerard let out a loud groan, but it only encouraged Adam. “But I think I’m nailing this apology.” “...Am I paying you to sit up there and think of bad puns all day?” “Yeah, actually.” Adam’s smile reached his eyes—finally—and Gerard realized he was absolutely fucked because he would have let Adam sit there and make his bad puns for hours if it meant seeing the way his eyes practically twinkled and hearing his laughter ring out in the room. It had been so quiet without him around. “You’re paying for the pun package.” [end of ID]
