Chapter Text
The camera (shaky, as if held in the hands of someone nervous) focuses on Judai, standing in front of an old microwave in his dorm room. Behind the camera, a voice can be heard, a worried "Are you sure about this?" sounding out, only for Judai to just grin in response.
"It'll be fine! We have this extinguisher, see?" Judai pats the extinguisher on the counter before focusing back on the camera.
"Hello DuelTube! My name is Judai Yuki and today we'll be seeing what happens if we microwave these pens!" He holds a plate of pens out to the camera triumphantly, clearly way too excited to be messing with a microwave. "Now we'll put these in the microwave and-"
"Shouldn't we have some sort of safety measure?"
Judai blinks, pausing as he holds the plate of pens in the microwave. "Like what, Shou?"
"I don't know, what if they blow up or something?"
"Uh, I agree with him. We should probably have some sort of precaution." A voice sounds from somewhere above, the camera swivelling to show Hayato crouching on the top level of the bunk bed, watching Judai. The camera then swivels back around to Judai, now putting the plate down on the counter and stepping towards the camera.
"Alright, hang on-"
The footage very roughly cuts here, coming back in a moment later to reveal that a mattress has been balanced on its side as an improvised shield, with the camera peeking out from above while Judai prepares to put the plate of pens in the microwave.
"-least it's your mattress..." The camera (apparently turned back on in the middle of Shou's sentence) turns to the bunk bed, revealing that the lowest bunk is now devoid of mattress, blanket and pillow scattered on the floor nearby, before being turned back around to face Judai.
"You ready to record?" Judai puts the plate down inside the microwave, apparently undeterred by the reluctance of his friends. There's a pause, the camera turning in time to catch Hayato holding the pillow from the pilfered bunk on top of his head like an improvised helmet, before Shou finally gives a weak "Yes...".
"Alright then! Here we go!" Judai slams the microwave shut, then jabs the start button before scooping up the fire extinguisher in his arms and sprinting over to join his friends behind the improvised mattress shield. He skids in between Shou and Hayato, roughly thumping the extinguisher down beside him before peeking out over the mattress to watch the microwave.
"Judai, how long did you put those in for?" Shou keeps the camera focused on the microwave, zooming in slightly to show the pens spinning around inside.
"About a minute. I figured I didn't need to put them in for long. Right, Winged Kuriboh?" The camera spins around to show Judai apparently talking to thin air, staring at a point in the middle distance before he seems to refocus and return his attention to the microwave. "I hope they do something cool in there."
"I hope this is boring-" The camera visibly jumps as a tiny pop emits from the microwave, Shou apparently taken off guard by the noise. "-Judai, shouldn't you take them out now?! They're exploding!"
"No, this is great! Keep recording!" Judai visibly leans over the side of the mattress, trying to get a better look at the microwave even as Hayato tries to yank him back down with one hand, his other hand still holding the pillow to the top of his head.
"Judai, we're already in Slifer Red! We'll be expelled if you set the dorm on fire!" Hayato attempts to reason with Judai, the camera now fully focused on his attempts to wriggle out of Hayato's grip instead of the microwave. Judai glances in the direction of the camera, frantically pointing over the mattress and yelling for Shou to refocus on the microwave as Hayato finally yanks him back down onto the floor with a huff.
"You know he's right, Judai..." The camera swings back around just in time for the microwave to shut off with a ping, accompanied by Judai's gasp as he vaults over the edge of the mattress shield to see the results.
"Alright! Let's see what happened!" Judai opens the microwave, leaning in despite both Shou and Hayato frantically calling out from behind the camera about the risk of toxic fumes. Judai doesn't seem to care about the risk though, whipping the plate out and slapping it down on the counter to get a better look at the results.
"Hey, Shou, over here!" Shou brings the camera in as Judai beckons him over, focusing in on the pens to reveal that several have burst in the microwave, spilling black and blue ink over the plate. A few have remained intact, apparently having resisted bursting like the others.
"...Are they still useable?" Shou's hand enters the frame to hesitantly poke at the pens, only to dart back out of frame as Judai snatches one of the unbroken pens off the plate.
"One way to find out - whoa!" The camera turns in time to catch Judai bending the pen as if it were made of rubber, laughing away at how easily the normally stiff plastic flexes. Turning to face the mattress barrier, he holds the pen above his head and bends it into an arc. "Hey, Hayato, check this out!"
"That's a little weird, Judai!" Hayato calls back from behind the mattress, apparently still hiding there despite the immediate risk being long past. The camera footage bounces between showing Judai flexing the pen, an excited grin on his face, and Hayato peeping over the mattress, watching the proceedings from a distance, before finally focusing back on Judai as he approaches the counter again.
"Let's see if these still work..." Grabbing a stray piece of paper from nearby, Judai draws a few loose scribbles before doodling a very quick Winged Kuriboh and holding it to the camera delightedly. "Good news, they work! I guess being nuked didn't affect the ink too much!"
"Okay, so we're done with this, right? No more microwave experiments?" Shou questions from behind the camera, focus returning to Judai once again as he sets the scrap paper aside.
"Maybe..."
"What do you mean, maybe?!" Shou's panicked cry is cut off as Judai turns his focus to the camera, grinning delightedly with the results of his homebrew experiment.
"Alright DuelTube, that was, uh... 'Microwaving Things With Slifer Red'! Stay tuned for next time!"
"Next ti-" Shou's scream is cut off as the footage cuts abruptly.
