Chapter Text
“Well, this is it. If I remember correctly, this should be the Waking Sands. I overheard once or twice that the Scions were moving here.” I sigh, half smiling while fiddling with the bow on my back. It was finally time to come ‘home’, after five long years.
How I got here was, well, a long and painful story, so I’ll spare the details. Long story short, I should be dead. According to Eorzea, I am dead. However, I’m clearly not. Thanks to Louisoix, I was simply transported to different shard, swapping souls with a newly dead girl. I then went through hell and back as her, not even remembering who I am. The ninth was brutal, and there were times when I thought I wouldn’t live to see the next morn’, but I lived. Once I turned fourteen, everything changed simultaneously. My memories came back to me, and with the help of Ash, or Shark as he goes by here, I escaped back to Eorzea. From there I picked up the bow, used my musical ability to sing on street corners for gil, and did errands for this dude named Baderon at The Drowning Wrench, eventually becoming know as a respected adventurer and getting to travel to Gridania and Ul’dah to meet all the Grand Company leaders, before finally finding my way to what I can only assume is the Waking Sands.
“What are you waiting for? Let’s go in!” Shark says, intertwining one hand with me secretly.
Oh yeah, the best part about Ash, we’re dating.
“What if they don’t remember me?” I whisper while tentatively taking a step forward.
“They’re your parents, why wouldn’t they?”
“They think I’m dead, that’s why.”
“All the more reason to remember you.”
“That’s fair enough, come on, let’s go.”
I take a step forward, and another, until I make it to the front door of the Waking Sands, knocking as quietly as possible while Shark takes off my hood. No point in hiding here. They aren’t the general public. A couple seconds later the door opens, and the one person I’m hoping doesn’t answer the door. Thancred.
“Can I help you… Akira?” He sounds so surprised, like his dead child isn’t at his doorstep right now.
“Yep. That’s me. Hi dad, I’m back.”
