Chapter 1: Louise Belcher

Chapter Text

Louise Belcher did not like boys.
Yes, when she was nine she liked Boo-Boo but that was just a phase!
She had other things to worry about then gross teenage boys. The same boys who would casually be a dick to her and would get away with it since "Wagstaff needs football players". The same type that would pick on her and Gene and Tina and Rudy for simply existing.

Rudolph Stieblitz.
Her problem today.
He was a teenage boy but he was different!
He was kind and thoughtful towards her, with those kind eyes.....AGHHHH!
Yes her and Rudy have been friends for years, YES they kissed once (mind you to show him Chloe Barbash sucks, she still does) but he was the exception to her teenage boy rule.

Yet... why is she worrying about him when she has other things to actually worry about.

Like on how to get an A in biology after half-assing all year.
Would she normally study this hard for biology.
No but Rudy begged her to try get an an A so he and her could get to do some "cool" biology experiment for an assembly?

UGH WHY DID SHE AGREE TO DO THIS.
FOR HIM?
No she does not like him.
Maybe she sometimes thinks about holding his hand.
Maybe she sleeps in the hoodie he had given her when she had shown up to school late, drenched from the pouring rain outside. Thank god he is overprepared for everything and always has extra clothes just in case.
OKAY and maybe she was a little jelous of girls like Chloe Barbash who were able to grab his attention with no effort whatsoever.

No. She does not like her own best friend.
She's doing this because....
She sighs for probably the millionth time that day.

Why would she "re-learn" all this just so her and Rudy can be at the top of the class and do some "biology" thing.
She didn't even know there was an assembly until Rudy had begged her earlier to do this!

So why did she actually agree?
Usually she asks for something in return. Such as when she promised Gene she would do his restaurant chores for a week if he took her to the new Boba place every Friday for a month.
Or when she would only help her dad with the TV in exchange for a week off work.

Yet all she said to Rudy was "Whatever you need me to do I'll do it okay". Without any questions asked.

She returns her attention back to her biology notes and notices that for the past twenty minutes she's just been holding her highlighter and not actually highlighting anything.

"I better get a fricking A" she mumbles angrily as she almost slams her head on her table.

Being fourteen is hard.

"Louise! Come set the table" she hears her mom say, shortly followed by some singing and her dad groaning, as he says "Lin stop" at least three times throughout her mother's song.

She takes one last look at her biology notes and begrudgingly goes to set the table.

But unfortunately for her Rudolph Stieblitz doesn't escape her thoughts as easily as genetics and evolution do.

She stays quiet at dinner.
Her dad asks if shes okay but she just says she's fine and had a long day at school.

Even as she brushes her teeth, does at least two hours of biology (two more hours than what she normally does) and gets into bed, Rudolph Stieblitz does not leave her thoughts.

As she finally seems to be drifting off to sleep, all she can think of is Rudy.

"Oh shit. Maybe I do like a teenage boy"
