Work Text:
Sleep doesn’t really come so easily for Jihoon.
It made him grateful for these few days of staying in a campsite to rest. He enjoyed riding ATV a few times a day, enjoyed working out without the burden of pain lingering on the next day’s schedule, basked in warm morning sunlight and bright evening moonlight.
What doesn’t change quite much in this place where there’s so many things available for him to do was sleeping in. Sleeping in thru the morning was only natural in the loud city. Writing lyrics and creating beats for an idea he can’t quite let go of yet would only mean staying at the studio for the whole night. Sometimes sleeping on the couch there, sometimes going back to his own dorm room. Most times, though, rest is deep and more satisfying when he’s with Seungkwan.
It’s their last day in the campsite, they haven’t slept together for a few days. Rest is there, can be reached enough but having Seungkwan’s warmth and presence beside him just differs when he’s alone.
There’s a lingering regret. Of not pulling Seungkwan by his side to let them room together, let them sleep in one bed together. Of things ending and he does not want this week of staying here to end. He just barely got used to this life. Just barely used to not sleeping beside Seungkwan every night.
Sleep is shallow, barely reaching deep sleep. The blanket is somehow heavy but he can’t push it down because it’s cold.
“ Wooahae. Wooahae, wooahae ,” sang a familiar voice and Jihoon thinks he’s created a dream of hearing Seungkwan’s voice.
The crackling of stones by foot told him it’s reality so he opened his eyes.
“ Wooahae, wooahae, wooahae ,” Seungkwan repeated just outside his bed’s window.
And Jihoon is once again reminded of everything he’s been thinking about for the whole night.
He turned around, covering his face with the blanket. Maybe if he actually sleeps deeply now, he’ll dream of a few more weeks in this place but this time, with Seungkwan by his side in the evenings.
–
A slight creak of the door reigned the RV van. Some shuffling he thought came from Soonyoung in his room on the other side.
Then there’s a rustling of a blanket, his blanket, being pulled away and a familiar weight lying beside him. Immediately, he pulled Seungkwan closer – closer as if pulling his beloved would make up for the few nights they spent close yet so far still.
Seungkwan, naturally, tucked his face in Jihoon’s neck and an arm over Jihoon’s waist. Legs and feet automatically tangle with each other.
There’s a few moments of silence. All at once, rest comes so easily in the presence of Jihoon’s most precious person. The familiar warmth and breathing, the natural weight on his waist, the recognizable humming from the sweetest voice he’d ever heard. All of those are ingredients for a good and deep rest, satisfying and fulfilling.
“They’re already cooking lunch,” Seungkwan said as his hand traveled to Jihoon’s head, brushing and rubbing his hair, soothingly.
“Stay,” he answered quickly. “Few more minutes.”
“Okay,” Seungkwan promised. "Rest well, hyung. I'll be here when you wake up."
–
Sleep doesn’t come easy for Jihoon. Rest is something his body and mind craves but has a hard time to get.
Both only come naturally to him in the presence of Seungkwan by his side, where he belongs.
-
Jihoon dreamt of a few more days of rest. This time, Seungkwan sleeps by his side.
-
When he wakes up next, Seungkwan is still by his side.
Jihoon must have shifted in his sleep in Seungkwan accomodated him. Jihoon is now practically sleeping on Seungkwan, his head is on Seungkwan's chest, an arm holding the younger closer, his legs still tangled with Seungkwan's.
Seungkwan also fell asleep. Jihoon's earphones in his ear plugged in his phone too. Seungkwan knows that Jihoon is protective of his small collection of tunes and random sounds in his phone, as well as his folder of song drafts, clips of him humming and lyrics that might fit somewhere in future songs. But Jihoon also knows that Seungkwan is curious in everything related to music.
As a result, he's created a folder for Seungkwan in his phone. Recording clips of Jihoon singing and humming lyrics and melodies he wants Seungkwan to hear. Sometimes a half finished song, sometimes a thirty minute clip of him randomly strumming his guitar and throwing out lyrics here and there.
The one Seungkwan fell asleep to while listening in Jihoon's recent recording. Just a day before they came here. It's a fifteen minute record of him doing the latter but this time he's using the piano. Soft tunes and melody dances as Jihoon hums and softly sings lyrics he thought of on the spot.
He watches Seungkwan sleep, soft and relaxed like Jihoon is.
At one point, Soonyoung comes inside and teased him with some excessive winking. His bestfriend certainly knows how smitten Jihoon is with Seungkwan.
-
When Seungkwan came to, Jihoon is greeted with the sweetest smile.
"Sleep well?" he asked, nosing Seungkwan's cheek.
Seungkwan hums as an answer and returned the question back to Jihoon.
"Always. Whenever I'm with you," he replied sincerely before pressing a soft kiss on Seungkwan's lips.
