The Perfect Snowflake
Days are a lot like snowflakes each one is unique, some may be almost entirely the same except for one slight difference. Today for Jonathan Kent was a day like no other, he was going to come out and confess his love to his best friend.
Despite running through every possible scenario in his head he knew that there was no predicting, Damian Wayne. Knowing Damian as well as he did, didn’t put his mind at ease during class. For all he knew Damian might already know after all he was the son of the world’s greatest detective. Regardless of if he already figured him out Jon treasured their friendship too much to lose it over some stupid crush.
As soon as he was able to he sped over to the Fortress of Attitude to finally tell him how he felt. Quickly discovering Damian at his computer, he wastes no time getting to him.
Approaching the computer in a pointlessly silent and nervous stride. Jon finally started speaking with sweaty palms and zero confidence in his voice. “D…, can we talk it’s kind of important?”
“Jonathan, can’t you see I am busy trying to figure out why banks in Gotham keep losing their tellers?” An annoyed tone clearly evident in his voice. Maybe mind control
“R-ight s-orry D never mind.” Turning on his heel and heading to his room within the fortress to decompress.
“TT give me a minute to run some checks on my current theories and then we can talk J.” He called out before Jon was fully out of earshot. Hearing the familiar nickname put Jon’s mind at ease as he tried to compose himself before their talk.
Making his way to their recreation room he lays down on the couch and stares at the ceiling taking a few calming breaths. “Everything will be okay. No point in worrying until something happens.” He thought to himself until Damian walking into the room snapped him back to reality. When he finally sat up and made eye contact with Damian though he stopped thinking.
Damian was wearing a black leather jacket, maybe something he stole from Dick or Jason, complimented by a white shirt and blue denim jeans. The entire look served to bring out Damian’s kryptonite green eyes and it made Jon sit there mouth open wide. “Kent, are you okay? You look as though a piece of kryptonite is turning your brain to mush.”
“Nope, just you.” Jon thought to himself before speaking, “Yeah I’m fine. Just you look good D.”
“Thank you I’ll have to remember to tell Grayson that his efforts were not lost on everyone. He thought I should try dressing like Father can’t buy me everything I want.” “Yep, that sounds like Dick. He was already my favorite superhero and now I have him to thank for this.” Jon noted to himself.
Settling on the couch next to Jon, “So J what is this important matter you and I need to discuss?”
His gaze dropped ever so slightly due to nerves, but he was still getting lost in those eyes because deep down he knows their friendship has weathered worse and regardless of how this goes it’ll survive this too. “I… um, I’m nervous D.”
“You’re ridiculous Kent. What possible reason do you have to be nervous? If you haven’t noticed I don’t have my utility belt and by extension no kryptonite.” Damian scoffed, looking slightly annoyed.
“That’s what you think.” Jon thought while outwardly displaying a nervous smile. Damian seems to relax upon seeing the expression.
Feeling a bit better, Jon took a deep breath. “I’m just going to say it…I’m Bi.” Before continuing he looked at Damian’s face to try to gauge his reaction. In typical D fashion, his expression hadn’t changed. He was unfazed like a piece of stone. Had he really figured it out before now? He is my best friend and one of the world’s greatest detectives, so I guess it wouldn’t be too surprising.
“Not exactly a surprise Kent, I’m bi as well you don’t see me walking on one leg, do you?”
In an instant, all of Jon’s nerves melted away and he started laughing. Damian fuming growls,” What’s so funny?”
Catching his breath between laughs so he can try to explain. “D… not bipedal, bisexual.”
A genuine and rare look of surprise took over Damian’s face. “Oh. J sometimes you are so stupid I wonder how you have lived this long. Why do you think I would care? You’re still you, still Superboy, still my best friend.”
Upon hearing those words Jon couldn’t stop smiling and hugged him and despite his no hugs rule Damian relaxed and returned the hug.
Relenting from the hug with Jon’s gaze firmly fixed on Damian’s face. “D there’s something else I need to tell you or more accurately ask you. Would you go on a date with me?”
This time it was Jon’s turn to be surprised. Damian leaned forward, pushed his hair out of the way, and kissed him. “Does that answer your question?”
