Work Text:
When my chest rips apart
Take a piece of the bone Adam first gave
Like Eve and all that came
I’m a piece of all that is and all that claims
To be whole yet sinful
It’s written and set into stone
Take the fruit of her labor
As it turned into all of mankind’s victories
Look around and take an apple and take a
hand
And forgive transgressions that long have
been unshakable in their depth
For as long as there’s a bed to fall into
A body to warm the sheets
And corn to feast on
There will be countries to be explored
Empires to be conquered
and life’s to be led
There will be a place to fall back into and a
hand to take hold of
and time to forgive
and time before the end
