Work Text:
Kafka remembered how much she adored Stelle's curious eyes whenever they traveled to another part of the universe.
Whenever they traveled among the stars, Stelle’s eyes would wander to the stars trying to see each of them while her hand would move to them as if she was trying to connect them and create a shape. If she felt satisfied with the result, Stelle would excitedly tell her about what she had drawn on the sky.
Sometimes, when her curiosity was too much to bear in her mind, Stelle would run to her and start asking her with a lot of questions that even she couldn’t answer all of them. If the answer was not satisfying for her, Stelle would pout. Kafka then would ruffle her gray hair with amusement.
Kafka remembered how much Stelle loved to hug her. Her taller body would engulf her, sometimes from the front and sometimes from the back. It's just her way of showing affection. Kafka never really showed it, but she loved the warm feeling from the hug.
Silver wolf loved to tease her whenever she saw them hugging. But, soon after that Stelle ran to the shorter girl and tried to hug her too. Kafka smirked at Silver wolf red face as her tiny hand tried to push Stelle.
“Do you think there are other people that travel among the stars like us?” Stelle asked while both of their hands were intertwined with each other.
Kafka remembered she did not immediately give an answer to Stelle’s question. Instead, her mind went back to her conversation with Elio about his ‘vision’ of the future.
Stelle did not know anything about that vision.
“Who knows. Maybe we will even meet with them in the future.”
The answer seemed to satisfy her. Stelle hummed and slowly rubbed Kafka’s hand with her thumb.
Kafka remembered how Stelle would do anything that she asked her to do. Even if the request was strange, Stelle never really questioned it. A smile would creep on the stellaron hunter and her gloved finger would caress Stelle’s face whenever she started giving an order to her.
“Stelle, listen.”
“Listen.”
That word also became the word that Kafka said to her before they became a stranger again.
“Listen, you won't remember a thing except me. Only me.”
For the first time, her heart felt pain. It hurt. Every step that she took was so heavy as she walked away from Stelle in Hertha space station.
No more curious questions about the star for her.
No more eager eyes waiting for her compliment about an invisible drawing on the sky.
No more warmness for her body from the hug.
All of them soon would be directed to someone else.
She would do everything to go on with Elio vision. But her eyes would still follow the Trailblazer. After all, as a stellaron hunter, she had her own way to see every part of the universe.
Kafka remembered how hot her ears were when she heard the laugh coming out from Stelle as the girl was having a conversation with a short hair girl from the express. How much she wanted to make the bright colors of that girl dim.
Everytime that girl voiced her bad opinion about the stellaron hunter and tried to persuade Stelle to see her as a bad person, Kafka was trying her best to not pull her gun and made the girl shut her mouth.
Kafka remembered how cold her eyes were when she saw the blood rushing up to Stelle’s cheeks as the Underworld doctor of the Belobog touched her forehead. The eagerness and excitement in those golden eyes when she visited that doctor. A thought of burning the clinic sometimes appeared on her mind.
“What do you want, Kafka?” Himeko asked her angrily.
Kafka kept her lazy smile at the navigator.
The moment she managed to contact the Express, she had to keep herself from looking at Stelle. But it was not easy. She could feel that burning heat and curious eyes from beside her.
They met again but this time instead of a happy reunion, it was a chase to catch her as a wanted criminal in Xianzhou Luofu. Kafka had to pretend as a maniac.
Kafka made Stelle listen to her again.
Even in her fight, Kafka remembered how painful her heart was when she saw that foxian girl clutching to Stelle very hard. She hated how that fox was trying to touch her skin to Stelle. Kafka wished she could make Stelle attack that girl before she got captured by the Divination Commission.
“How are you? Are you alright?”
Kafka raised her eyebrows in amusement. Elio had never mentioned that Stelle would be worried about her condition. It brought comfort to her. Even in this kind of situation, Stelle still shows her affection for Kafka.
How much she wanted to release her hands from the binding, grab Stelle and pull her away from the Express to return back to her.
However, Elio’s vision forced Kafka to let Stelle travel among the stars without her by her side. She hated it. But she did not have any other choice.
Her job here was done. She and Blade had successfully brought the Express and the Alliance to work together, just like Elio wanted. Soon, everyone on this planet, or ships, would see Stelle as a hero. Which also means more admirers who would wish to get close with her.
She watched the panicked look on Stelle's face as she and Blade fell down from the building to escape. How cute.
It didn’t matter.
No matter how far they had to travel in the sea of stars in their own separate ways or how many people tried to keep Stelle away from Kafka by saying vile things about her, Kafka’s eyes would follow her.
The Trailblazer had forgotten everything, except her. Stelle would remember her, just like how Kafka remembers everything about her.
Their path would converge again.
At the end, Stelle would come back to her.
As always.
