It had been three days, and Twilight was done.
He charged through the hideout, not even taking the time to kill or incapacitate the bandits he passed. He just threw them out of his way as he searched. They didn't stand a chance. The others followed him at various paces, cleaning up his mess.
Vaguely, Twilight felt glad that he could trust them to do that. Most of his mind filled with white buzzing instead of thoughts.
He didn't stop for the door in his way to the farthest room. He kicked it in, ignoring the splinters and the yells. It took him approximately five seconds to shut up the bandits in the room, and then he could focus on what really mattered.
"Cub… what did they do to you?"
Twilight fell to his knees next to Wild, tied up and slumped against the wall with his hands above his head. Gently, Twilight pushed strands of Wild's hair out of his face, concerned about the blood. It had been three days, and Wild looked all the worse for it. His earrings were missing, as were his arm wraps and hair ties. The bright blue of his tunic darkened in stripes with blood, not an unfamiliar sight, but a very unwelcome one.
Wild didn't immediately respond to Twilight's touch. Twilight pulled a knife from his boot and stabbed it into the rope holding Wild up.
He fell forward into Twilight's arms, and that appeared to wake him a little. His eyes squeezed firmly shut, then squinted open. He began to pull in short breaths, as a response to pain or relief, Twilight didn't know. All he could do was hold Wild in a way that hopefully didn't hurt him further.
"It's all right," he told Wild, listening to the others wreaking havoc outside. His heart ached with an invisible, physical pain. His fingers shook as he avoided touching any broken skin. "You're okay. You're safe now."
