Work Text:
Bucky Barnes is a professor of history at a small university in upstate New York. He's been living a quiet life, trying to put his past as the Winter Soldier behind him. That is, until he meets a young woman named (Y/N).
They first meet in the library, where (Y/N) is working as a student assistant. Bucky is browsing the history section when he accidentally knocks over a stack of books. (Y/N) rushes over to help him pick them up.
(Y/N): "I'm so sorry about that. Are you okay?"
Bucky: "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for helping me."
(Y/N): "No problem. Do you need help finding anything?"
Bucky: "Actually, I'm looking for a book on World War II. I'm teaching a class on it next semester."
(Y/N): "Oh, I love World War II history! Let me show you where the books are."
As they walked through the stacks, Bucky found himself drawn to (Y/N)'s intelligence and passion for history. They spent the next hour talking about their favorite historical figures and events.
Bucky: "You're really smart. Have you considered becoming a history major?"
(Y/N): "Actually, I am a history major! I'm hoping to become a professor like you someday."
Bucky: "That's great. You'll be great at it."
(Y/N): "Thanks. So, do you want to grab coffee sometime and talk more about history?"
Bucky hesitated for a moment, unsure if it was appropriate to ask out a student. But then he remembered that he wasn't her professor, and that he was allowed to have a personal life.
Bucky: "I'd like that. How about tomorrow after class?"
(Y/N): "Sounds good to me. I'll meet you at the café at 2 pm?"
Bucky: "Perfect. I'll see you then."
The next day, Bucky and (Y/N) met at the café and talked for hours. They discovered that they had a lot in common, from their love of history to their taste in music. By the end of the date, Bucky knew that he was falling for her.
Bucky: "I had a great time today. Would you like to do this again sometime?"
(Y/N): "Absolutely. How about dinner next weekend?"
Bucky: "That sounds perfect. I can't wait."
As they parted ways, Bucky knew that he had found someone special. He wasn't sure where their relationship would go, but he was excited to find out
