Work Text:

The forest was home to a multitude of magical creatures, meaning it was strictly forbidden to venture into it. Technoblade never liked that rule. It stopped the humans from wandering into his territory and playing tricks on them. Over the years, he grew bored of being alone within the forest.

Sure, he had his mom and dad, but they couldn’t always play with him. They held high positions in the autumn and spring courts, meaning that Techno was sometimes left to his own endeavors. He was barely 414 after all, much too young to be included in the court.

Techno finally had enough and decided he needed someone to play with. Maybe someone his age. Maybe… maybe a sibling.

“Dad, I want a sibling.”

Phil turned his head towards his son, a slight smile on his lips. “Now, why would you want a sibling?” He motioned for Techno to sit next to him. Techno sat slowly, the moss beneath him sinking with his weight.

“For one, I’m lonely. When you and mom have to go into the court, I’m left here all by myself. I don’t think I’d be lonely if I had a sibling.”

Phil let out a sigh and nodded his head. “I guess it can be a bit lonely when we do that. Now, here’s a question for you mate,” Techno leaned in closer, “where are you gonna get one?”

Techno blinked twice at the question. Where was he meant to get a sibling? His parents could have another kid, but it’d take forever for it to be able to play with him. Why by that time, Techno would be able to take on a role in the court and the child will suffer the same thing he’s going through.

“I don’t know… Where can I get a sibling, dad?” Techno looked to Phil, hoping the elder would be able to solve his problem.

“Well, there's always the whole ‘take a baby from its crib’ tactic, but I have a feeling you want someone around your age, no?”

Techno shook his head in agreement, “Yes, I want a sibling, no- a brother that’s similar to me. Oh, maybe a twin! That way we both grow up together and go into the court at the same time!” Techno was practically beaming from the thought. A twin, how had he not thought of it before? It was perfect. “Dad, I want a twin brother!”

Phil laughed at his son’s antics. “A twin huh? You know what that means right?”

Techno nodded his head before thinking a bit more and shaking his head. He was sure it meant he had a new playmate, but if his dad says there’s more then he doesn’t really know.

“Well firstly, you’d have to share your stuff with him, and vice versa. Next, you’d be practically the same in appearance. Now how will your mom and I figure out who is who?”

Those were very important to Technoblade. He liked his stuff and didn’t really like it when someone else took it. And the whole ‘mixing both of them up’ bit was a bit saddening. He thought a bit harder though. Sharing meant that they would like the same things, so that would mean they would bond better. And if they looked alike, they could switch places one day and confuse his- no, their parents.

With that, Techno looked into his fathers eyes with only one thing on his mind. He was going to get himself a brother.

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The village was a busy place. It was close enough to the main road that merchants could settle down for a couple of days and get good trade from the passing travelers. The few that did live there had established a routine in their lives. Set up shop, tidy the house, and, recently, watch out for the two street rats going about and stealing.

Wilbur hadn’t meant to be labeled as a thief this quickly. He and Tommy had barely arrived two days prior, now he was running with Tommy in his arms from the village guards.

They hadn’t even taken much. The baker had given her approval for them to take a loaf, but the guards really didn’t think so.

So here he was, running into the forest he had been warned about getting lost in when he had arrived. He was out of breath and Tommy had started getting heavy. The 14 year-old wasn’t used to carrying his little brother anymore since he had turned 10 a while back, but this called for desperate measures.

Wilbur slowed down, the guards had stopped chasing them a while back, but he didn’t want to risk it.

“Wilbur, are we-” a bump as Wilbur jumped over a log, “are we almost to a safe place? I’m hungry…”

Wilbur let go of a breath he didn’t know he was holding. He was safe now, and so was Tommy. Surely they could rest a bit before heading back towards the main road and continuing their trip Southwards.

“Of course buddy,” he slowly let Tommy down, steadying him as he readjusted to solid ground. “I’m sure that the forest wouldn’t mind if we rested within it for a while.”

Both boys collapsed onto the forest floor, exhaustion settling into their bones. Tommy reached into the supplies backpack (the other one with their belongings had been dropped during the chase) and took out a busted apple. It wasn’t pretty, and with a quick bite it surely wasn’t sweet, but it was food.

Wilbur couldn’t bear to eat right now. Running for so long made him queasy, so any food in his system would only sit for so long. He really just wanted to sleep. Have a nice nap.

“C’mon Toms, let's sleep for a bit, yeah? No harm in catching a few winks before setting out again.”

Tommy gave the apple another munch before putting it near a tree for an animal to finish it. He hoped a deer or a raccoon would grab it, they might like it. After completing his task, he went and sat next to Wilbur by a big oak tree, its shade covering them both from the sun.

And with that, the two brothers fell asleep, missing the pair of eyes looking at them from the trees.

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Technoblade couldn’t believe it. Only a few days after his talk with his father about getting a brother, he stumbled into not one, but two human children. Not to mention, within the forest as well.

This was great for Techno. He didn’t need to go through the hassle of exchanging places with one of the boys to steal him, nor did he have to worry about a village pursuing him for entering their borders.

At the moment, both of the boys were asleep.

He had heard them run into his territory, a fury of shouts behind them stopping abruptly when whoever was chasing them noticed they entered into the land claim by the fae.

Those humans weren’t stupid. They knew that crossing over would lead to them being taken from the life they knew. That they would be tricked.

But these two... They didn’t even seem to think about the consequences. Not to mention their chasers had to mind to warn them not to go in.

It was perfect.

Techno waited anxiously by the boys, already imagining what they would do and the fun they would have once they became his brothers.

The oldest was a brunette, just like his mother. Techno noticed that their features already seemed identical, with a minor change here and there. It was like the boy was truly his twin. He seemed around the same age physically as well. Humans aged differently than faes, sure, but he was close enough that the few hundred years difference wasn’t noticeable at all.

Then there was the blonde boy resting on his shoulders. He reminded Techno of his father, his blonde hair and, from what he saw, blue eyes made it seem that he was truly Phil’s son. Oh how his father would have a ball with the child.

Techno smiled softly. These were the ones. These were his brothers. Now all he needed was for them to tell their names to either Phil or Kristin so that they could claim them as their child and have them be Techno’s brothers. Forever.
With that thought, he was ready to turn around and find his parents.

Then the blonde one woke up.

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tommy knew he was meant to be asleep, just like Wilbur was. But he really wasn’t tired. He kept his eyes shut though, just in case.

Then he heard the sound of footsteps.

They were light and quick, stopping right in front of where he and Wilbur were resting. The person was humming a song of sorts, a happy tune that he had never heard before.

Tommy really couldn’t help it, but he opened his eyes a little to try to see the person in front of him better. This was a terrible idea as now both of them stared at the other.

The person in front of him was no older than Wilbur was. He had long, pink hair in an intricate braid thrown around his shoulder. His clothes reflected the state of his braid, a complex outfit with a multitude of gold pieces was on the boy. And his eyes. The boy's eyes were as red as the roses his mother used to tend to.

“He-hello sir. Is this your land? I promise my big brother and I were just going to rest and-” the boy quickly leaned forward and placed something on his head, “and get out of your way…”

The boy only smiled at Tommy. The smile was off putting. It was too perfect, too human, too uncanny.

To distract himself, Tommy reached for what was placed on his head, the boy's smile faltering at the action. Whatever it was, it felt a lot like leaves and petals. Sure enough, the entire thing was made up of leaves and petals.

It was a flower crown made up of dandelions.

“Thanks mister uh…”

“Techno, you can call me Techno.” The smile returned. Too perfect, too human, too uncanny. “I can teach you how to make one if you’d like. I’m sure your buddy over there would like one.” Techno pointed to Wilbur, who was still asleep.

Tommy looked at his brother hesitantly, not wanting to leave him alone. Then again, he wasn’t tired and he would much rather make flower crowns with this new kid than wait until Will woke up again.

“If you really don’t mind showing me, I’d love to learn how to make one.”

Techno’s smile only grew wider at the words, quickly grabbing Tommy’s arms and taking him towards the center of a field only a few feet from where Wilbur was at.

Both boys would spend the next hour or two making the flower crowns. Tommy learned a lot about Techno during this time. He was an only child and his parents often had to go to work at a court and do important stuff. He also learned that the boy had learned to entertain himself with the forest. Flower crowns turned out to be a hobby of his, being able to make multiple back to back.

Tommy however, did not seem to be a natural at creating the delicate crowns. His came out all wrong. The stems of the flowers would poke out and he’d tear some of the petals by accident when he got to a tricky bit.

Luckily, Techno was there to help him out. The boy was weird. Not the bad type, but the good type of weird.

The only thing he found really weird was that he kept asking him for his name. Every few minutes Techno would ask what his name was, and each time Tommy would answer with his name.

“My name is Tommy, I’ve told you it a million times by now Techno.”

“That's not true though! I know that’s not your name. Just tell me your name. Please? And it has to be the real one.” Techno had set down the crown he was working on and grabbed Tommy’s shoulder, shaking him a bit.

“Hey man, don’t shake me. I told you, that’s my name.” Tommy shrugged off Techno’s hand and slowly began to stand. “Look, I’ve had fun Techno, I really have, but I’m gonna go with Will, yeah? I’m uh, I’m feeling a tad sleepy, y’know? Big men need their rest.”

Techno stared at Tommy, the ten-year-old squirming under his gaze. He quickly ran to the tree Wilbur was at, finally away from Techno’s gaze, and shook him awake. “Will, Will wake up. I think we have to go…”

Wilbur slowly woke up, lazily rubbing his eyes. “Toms? What’s wrong buddy?” Wilbur blinked a few times, his eyes adjusting to the light around him.

“Nothing’s wrong Will,” came a voice behind them. It wasn’t Tommy’s, and it definitely wasn’t Wilburs. “It’s just that Tommy left halfway into us making flower crowns.”

Techno stood in front of the two boys now, matching flower crowns in his hands with a third on his head.

“And who might you be?” Wilbur instinctively pulled Tommy closer, getting ready to bolt if he needed to.

“No one to you yet, but I will be soon. My dad wants to speak to you two, help you out.” Techno smiled. Both boys felt it was too perfect, too human, too uncanny.

“Why would we do that then? How do we know he isn’t a murderer or a guard that’s gonna separate us. I’d really rather not meet with him.” Wilbur slowly grasped the bag of supplies nearby.

“Then that’s quite rude of you. Because he’s here right now and it’d be impolite to not say hello at the very least.” Techno motioned towards the edge of the clearing, motioning for someone to come out.

The man in front of him was… something. He was blonde and blue eyed, just like Tommy was. He could’ve been fooled into believing this was Tommy’s father if he hadn’t been his own as well. He had a small smile on his face. Too perfect, too nice, too uncanny.

“These two Techno? Are you positive?” Techno nodded his head enthusiastically, “Yes dad, these two are wonderful!”

The blonde man nodded at Techno before turning his full attention to Wilbur and Tommy. He crouched down a bit to their level, making eye contact with both.

“Well hello boys. I’m sorry if my boy caused you two any trouble.” He looked back at Techno, who was happily humming a small tune. “He hasn’t met too many kids his age I’m afraid.”

“That’s alright mister. He was very kind to me. We made some flower crowns together and talked a bit…” Tommy rambled a bit, explaining his time with Techno.

Wilbur was quite scared of that. His little brother was off somewhere else while he was asleep. For all he knew, Tommy could’ve easily wandered off, or worse, been caught.

“That sounds like you had a lovely time. Say, I never got your names. I’m Phil.” Phil smiled at the two boys, but it was just… “I’d be better if they’re your full names as well, you never know.”

Wilbur didn’t know why, but he felt that Phil was right. “Well, my name is Wilbur and-” a sudden wave of nausea came over him. “And this is my brother, Tommy. Oh that, that doesn’t feel right.” His head felt like it was spinning and his bones ached all of a sudden.

“Wilbur? Are you alright?” Tommy grabbed his brother's shoulder tightly, not knowing what else to do.

“Wilbur. Wil-bur. What a funny name.” Techno kept repeating the name under his breath, getting happier by the second. “What about you Tommy? I know that isn’t your real name.”

“Tech, you can’t push him to tell you, that isn’t right.” Phil turned to Tommy after that, a soft smile on his face. It felt wrong. “But yes, we need your real name Toms. Just in case, remember?”

Tommy didn’t know what to do. He thought that was his real name. That’s what Wilbur would always call him. However, his mom and dad would call him by a different name.

“My parents used to call me Thomas but-” a wave of nausea hit him. That. That didn’t feel good.

“My my, would you look at that Tech. It looks like you have two new brothers now!” Phil began to laugh slightly while Techno gasped excitedly. “Finally! Now I have two brothers to play with!”

“Bro- brothers?” Wilbur slowly came back to his senses. “What do you mean by brothers? We aren't, we aren't staying here.”

“Oh yes you are! You belong to us now! Oh, I almost forgot. My name is Technoblade.” The mention of the boy's name alleviated the nausea in both Wilbur and Tommy. “And my name is Philza.”

With that, Wilbur finally realized what was happening. They were not found by a lonely boy in the forest. His brother did not spend time with a nearby village kid. No, they were found by Fae. And now they were stuck, brothers together from that moment on.

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Techno was the happiest he had ever been. He had his brother now and would slowly introduce them into Fae culture. Their culture.

It took time, but both Wilbur and Tommy slowly began to forget about their time as humans. Not to mention that they now looked more like Fae now too. The family had matching smiles as well. Just perfect, not human, and uncanny.

Both Techno and Wilbur went into the Fae Court, taking after their parents. Tommy came by every now and then and bothered them before they all went out into a field and made each other flower crowns, their favorite hobby.

Notes:

Thank you for reading :D This was really just a test to see if I still had my mojo from when I used to write, and it turns out I do! I'm going to try to write for as many days this month and get into the habit of things before starting a long chapter fic. So many ideas, so much to improve on.

Sorry if it's not the best writing style or for any mistakes, I'm skipping sleep to write this ;-;

Have a grand day/night and stay safe!
