Work Text:
Arms wrapped tightly around the bottle of wine that he had swiped from the cellars of Dawn Winery, Venti rested his head against the trunk of the great oak whilst nursing a budding headache.
It was a little-known fact that he was able to hear the prayers of his people.
But what use did he have for those whispers in the wind when there was little he could do to grant their wishes.
He was thankful that the church continued to spread his ideals while lending their support to the knights. But sometimes he wished that they would be a little less… uptight.
Master Diluc was not happy that Angel’s Share was under increased scrutiny by the knights.
Sighing, Venti felt that it might take a while before he’ll be able to step back into the bar without getting unceremoniously tossed out.

“Oh Lord Barbatos…”
~
“Oh no, it’s her again,” Venti uncharacteristically squeezed his eyes shut and groaned.
He was joking when he said that he needed more passionate, pious devotees in order to become a better archon.
He didn’t expect Aether to find someone that fit the description in Mondstadt and actively guide her on how to direct her prayers to the wind.
~
“We are blessed by the winds that carry us through the day. For the more we toil, the more we sweat, the more keenly we will feel your holy winds…”
~
Venti sighed deeply as he moved to break open the seal to the bottle, he needed something to take his mind of the prayer. It's unlikely that the aroma of the wine alone will work, but it is always worth a shot.
“Hey, Aether… Do you ever feel guilty?” Paimon’s eyes were wide as she peeked past the corner at the scene of Michelle praying.
It has been an hour since she last moved from that spot.
“Hmm?” Aether glanced over to Paimon and smiled, eyes twinkling with mischief. “We are just granting the wishes of the Anemo Archon. That’s the least we could do after all that he has done.”
“After all, he wanted a pious, passionate devotee, didn’t he?”
“And look on the bright side, Paimon,” he pointed over to Michelle. “This will allow her to rest a little more before getting back to work.”
