The Devil Within

Summary:

Switching out Meteora for Festivia wasn't the only time the Magic High Commission has forcibly tampered with the Butterfly family history. Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Solaria Butterfly had no interest in children. They took up far too much time, which in Solaria’s opinion could be better spent on other things. Like subjugating the monster population of Mewni. Unfortunately for her, Solaria Butterfly was Queen and as such an heir was required. Fortunately for her Solaria had an older brother. Jushtin butterfly had been the heir to the throne before his sisters birth. Neither could have been more different from the other. Solaria had no interest in romance, while her brother was a hopeless romantic.
It began to worry the kingdom more and more as time went on, Solaria showing no signs of settling down. No one was more worried then the Magic High Commission. Without an heir, the duty of ruling could fall to her elder brother Jushtin Butterfly. They were determined to stop that from happening. Jushtin has been getting more and more vocal about opposing his sisters policies against monsters. There was no way they could allow someone so sympathetic to those they considered their enemies on the throne. Deciding to take matters into their own hands, the MCH approached the Queen with a plan. One they believed would benefit all of Mewni.

Warm hands rested on a large swollen stomach, ear pressed against the hard skin trying desperately to hear the occupant inside. Long fingers slowly ran through dark purple curls as a voice chuckled softly. “You need to be patient love, she’ll come out when she’s ready.” Bright blue eyes moved up to meet stormy grey with a pout. “How long is she going to make us wait?” The woman laughed as she shook her head. “Come now, it’s unbecoming of a prince to be pouting Jushtin.” Jushtin Butterfly sat up with a dramatic sigh, he crossed his arms as his gaze moved back down to his wife’s overly pregnant stomach.
“Sorry, I’m just really excited to meet her...” His wife reached a hand out, placing her palm against his cheek. “i know dear. Trust me, I’m as eager as you to meet her. But this isn’t something we can rush.” The Prince sighed again as he leaned close, pressing his forehead to hers. “What did I do to deserve you?” “Get in enough trouble to need a knight as a baby sitter.” She giggled her lips quirked up in a grin.
Jushtin felt his own smile twisting up into a grin. “You and my mother will never let me live that down will you?” “Never, Lady Skywynne will be telling that story for years.” Jushtin rolled his eyes as he fought back a laugh, “Says the knight who married the married the troublesome prince.” “Someone had to keep an eye on you~.” She responded without missing a beat, wiggling her eyebrows flirtatiously. They both leaned closer, their lips a hairs breadth apart before a voice pulled them both back. “I still can’t believe you agreed to marry him Emma.”
Jushtin felt himself scowl as he pulled away from his wife, glaring over to his younger sister. Solaria stood over leant against the doorway, a proud grin on her face. Irritating and embarrassing her older brother was one of her favorite pastimes. Emma gave her sister in law a polite smile as she laid back in her bed. She’d never much liked the woman herself, far to hot tempered and too quick to fight.
“What can I say he swept me off my feet.” Solaria laughed loudly as she pushed away from the door frame. Moving across the room to drape herself over a chair with a heavy thud, Jushtin reached down grabbing his wife’s hand. His voice came out even and monotone. “What happened to your meeting with the Magic High Commission about those monster in the forests behind the castle?”
Solaria stretched her arms back with a wide yawn, “We’ve come up with a plan to remove them permanently.” Jushtin’s grip on Emma’s hand tightened, causing the brunette to look at him worriedly. Things had been rather tense between the Butterfly siblings as of late. More and more monster activity had been reported and Solaria’s response was always the same. Kill all the monsters.
It was an approach that Emma and Jushtin disagreed with. Emma herself disagreed rather heavily, though as a former knight there wasn’t much could do against the Queen. Not to mention the last thing she wanted to do was turn her husband even more against his sister. Deciding to try and ease the tension, Emma looked over to the red haired monarch.
“To what do we owe the honor of this visit your majesty?” Solaria gave her brother a cold measured stare before looking to her sister in law. “I wanted to come and see how my niece was doing. Looks like she hasn’t decided to come out yet.” Emma felt Jushtin squeeze her hand again at the mention of their daughter. She shook her head, “Not yet, I guess she wants to wait a bit longer.”
“Have you two finally decided on a name?” Jushtin and Emma had spent the better part of the last 6 months pouring over old records of the Butterfly family, trying to find the perfect name. It had taken some time but finally they’d come up with something they both liked. Emma moved a hand down, resting it on her baby bump with a fond smile. Her gaze moved up to Jushtin who nodded, “We have yes.”
Solaria pushed herself up, an impatient look on her face. “Well what is it?” Jushtin moved his hand down to rest over his wife’s. Both of them had a wistful look in their eyes, “Her name is Eclipsa. Eclipsa Butterfly.”
