Chapter 1: Visitor

Chapter Text

“Si-Si!” Your already 5 year old son screamed excitedly.  Simon walked through the front door picking up your son and throwing him in the air a little before setting him to the ground.

“Hey, kid.  How’s it hangin’?” What used to be his dark, intimidating voice grew soft and slightly higher pitched at the sight of your son, Joseph.

You walked into the living room where they were and smiled.  Simon had chosen to take off his mask, most likely not to scare Joseph.  You don’t think Joseph would have been threaten by Simon contrary to popular belief.

“Hey, Si-Si.” You mocked.  Simon humorously scowl at you before walking up and patting your shoulder, lightly.  His unique version of a hug.

“How have you been?” His voice still hold that soft tone, unlike on the battlefield.

“I’ve been around, stuck with baby number two.” Simon grimaced.  Looking up and down between your face and your belly.  Your bump was very obvious to the blind eye.  Ghost made sure Joseph had left the room before clearing his throat.

“Why do you let him do this to you?” There he is, you internally spoke.  His voice had gone back to it’s deeper, more hotter—in your opinion—setting.  His hand that was on your shoulder move off more towards your belly.  He looked at you if it was okay.  You nodded before speaking up.

“I’ve tried to, hell I managed to get my son to 5 years old before he.. yeah.” Ghost knew you could defend yourself, but he couldn’t get rid of the pain and guilt that he felt knowing that if he was there he could’ve helped stop him, “If I can raise Joseph, I can raise my new baby.” Simon smiled, you were still strong and tough, like he knew you were, “Bills are gonna suck though—”

“I’ll help.” Simon gently rubbed the bump that protruded from your body, feeling the smooth skin along with stretch marks that add texture along with it.

“Oh, Simon you don’t have to.”

“I want to.  I’d feel like a monster if I didn’t.” You smiled, before patting his arm.  If you could hug him you would.  Tears made themselves known in your eyes before you wiped them away.

“Enough of that, How have you been?  Would you like some tea?” Simon nods before you head into the kitchen.  Simon doesn’t let you leave his gaze, he follows closely behind you.  You reached up into the cupboard above you and look through the mess of spices and hidden sweets that you’ve put up there so Joseph doesn’t want them, “Seems all I have is english breakfast, is that alright, Si?”

“Perfect.” Somehow, you doubt he’s talking about tea in that moment.  You fill your kettle with water before heating it on the stove.  You grab two tea bags from the box before shutting the cupboard gentle.  You set them down and grab two white mugs, one says mother of the year which you bought for yourself to deal with the fact of being a mother.  The other mug has birds all over it but its all the birds with funny names like a blue footed booby and the southern screamer.  You place both mugs near the tea bags.  Walking over to where Simon had sat, you sit across from him.

“How is 141?” You leaned on the table.

“We miss our friend.” He said, almost like he was trying to convince you to join back before he sighs and continues, “Johnny got a tattoo in memory of you like you died or somethin’” You giggle. “Gaz is well, Gaz.  He came out as gay to us.”

“Gaz is gay?” You stare shocked in a good way at Simon.

“And has a boyfriend.” You gasp excitedly.

“I’m so happy for him.” You exclaimed before quickly saying, “You think he’s gonna be angry for you telling me before him?” Your hand lay open on the table.

“No, he won’t be.  He told me to tell you cause he doesn’t know when he’ll get the chance to see you again.” Simon says, melancholic-like.

“Invite 141 to my baby shower,” You smile, “Make sure they bring gifts.”

“I won’t let you down.” Simon lays his hand onto yours, “Price is well, still a damn smoker.” You giggle.

“So are you.”

“Actually I’ve been stopping, for your little man.” Simon retorts out at you.  The tea kettle screams as it boils.  Simon’s hand lifts off yours as you stop the tea kettle from screaming bloodly murder and pour boiling hot water into the two mugs.  And placing the tea bags into them.

“Would you like milk or sugar, Simon?” You asked sweetly.  Getting your sugar cubes and milk out.

“Just milk, love.” You waited for the tea to fully melt into the boiling water, because equilibrium of whatever the fuck science class taught you in highschool.  You pour equal amounts of milk into the tea before taking out the wet tea bags and tossing them in the trash.  You put the milk back in the fridge.  You place three sugar cubes into your tea before walking the mugs over to the table.  You give Simon the bird mug.  As you drink from your mother mug.

“How has Joseph been?” Simon asks.

“Like any normal kid.” You place your mug down at a memory from a week ago, before Simon got here, “Simon, He thinks you’re his father.” Simon snorts into his drink in shock.

What.”
