Yeah, Duncan was pissed about being voted off, but as soon as he got to the loser's lodge, Courtney was running into his arms.
He couldn't help the smile that took over his face or the thought of "home" that settled in his brain. He hugged her close, nuzzling his nose against her neck. He took in her smell.
"I missed you, princess." He admitted quietly, face still hidden.
"I missed you too." She smiled and kissed the side of his neck.
That got a surprised groan from him which just upgraded her smile to a smirk.
"Want me to help you get settled into your room?" Courtney asked as she pulled away from the hug.
Her tone and face were casual but he saw a fire in her eyes which had him nodding immediately.
Unfortunately they only got five minutes alone before the ex-campers burst into his room.
Duncan didn't even get Courtney's shirt off which he was pleasantly surprised she seemed into. He had decided to test his luck by slipping his hand under her shirt to rest on her stomach. She had moaned and arched towards him . The memory alone had him thinking about pelting everyone with stuff until they left.
He thought he saw Courtney glaring at Harold but then Geoff and DJ were hoisting him up on their shoulders and he was lost in the jovial atmosphere.
They partied late into the next morning so no one even started getting up until late afternoon. Courtney was one of the first to get up and after she showered and brushed her teeth, she went down to the pool. She settled in a sun chair with a book and just let herself relax.
Leshawna joined her soon after and the two shared a smile. She put the chair down and laid out on her front.
“Will you help me with the lotion?” She asked.
“Sure.” Courtney said easily, looking up from her book.
“I got you, babe.” Harold smiled, coming up beside her.
Courtney rolled her eyes but went back to her book. She didn’t want to start a fight, especially not with Leshawna there. She had already beaten Harold so she knew she should be over it… the rage still simmered in her though. She didn’t want to let it go yet. She knew others thought she should, she knew she should move on, but it still burned in her every time she saw the scrawny geek.
She settled back in her seat and tried to read. She was very aware of Harold moving beside her but tried to ignore it. When he finished he plopped into the seat on the other side of Leshawna and Courtney was able to relax a bit more. It was easier to ignore him and focus back on her book.
They relaxed into a comfortable silence for awhile. It was eventually broken by Leshawna's stomach. The loud growl seemed to reverberate around the pool area, drawing eyes to them. Courtney gasped and looked over at her.
Leshawna put a hand to her stomach and shook her head.
"I need to get my grub on." She announced as she stood from her chair.
Harold moved to get up too but she put her hand on his knee.
"You stay right there, sugar. I'll make you something special." She told him with a wink.
He let out a small giggle-like noise and settled back into his seat. Courtney rolled her eyes and turned back to her book. She heard them kiss and she pulled the book closer to her face.
Leshawna and Duncan passed each other as she headed into the house. They high fived and Leshawna motioned to where Courtney was, not commenting on the big smile that took over his face.
"Morning, Princess." Duncan greeted as he plopped into the seat Leshawna had just vacated.
"We are well into the afternoon." She smirked at him, turning away from her book. "Surprised you're up at all."
"What can I say? I party hard." He smirked and shrugged.
She laughed and put her bookmark in to save her place. She turned to him fully, arms settled at her side. It and the slight lean forward made her chest even more pronounced.
He had never thought anyone could make grey look sexy, but Courtney proved him wrong. He found himself staring at her chest, memory of their make out from the previous day flooding his mind. She looked good in her bikini. Really good.
Duncan finally realized he had been staring for longer than appropriate and snapped his eyes up. He was expecting her to call him a pig or even slap him, but then he realized she wasn't even looking at him. She was glaring behind him.
He turned his head and saw Harold flipping her off. His brows furrowed as he turned back to his girlfriend. She finally had her attention back on him but her face was pissed.
"What's that about?" He asked.
He knew the two weren't the best of friends, but he didn't think there was this much animosity.
Courtney looked confused for a moment before realizing this may be just what she needed. She still held anger and her boyfriend was a big ball of anger, if anyone could understand and not tell her to get over it, it would be him.
"Oh, well, after I got here and the newest episode came out, we watched it and that's when I found out that Harold was the reason I got kicked off. He swapped out the votes." Courtney informed him.
Harold swallowed hard, body tensing as he waited for Duncan's reaction. Duncan was shocked and looked at Courtney for a moment before turning to Harold.
"That's fucked up, man." He told the skinny guy.
Courtney and Harold both froze for a moment, the same question in their heads Is that it?
And then Duncan was shaking his head as he turned back to Courtney. Harold let out a breath of relief and relaxed back in his seat. Courtney was full of rage, she expected Duncan to be as angry as her but he wasn't.
The anger only held for a moment before an idea came to her, she knew how to make him as angry as she was. She let her smirk grace her lips for only a few seconds before relaxing her face into a casual expression.
“Yeah it is, who knows what would have happened if I had stayed.” She commented casually.
Duncan’s brows raised and he watched her face intently.
“Y-yeah?” He asked, trying not to sound too hopeful in case he was misreading her tone.
“Yeah. I mean, we didn’t really get a lot of time to kiss before I was forced to leave.”
“We really didn’t.” He chuckled softly.
“So who knows. If we had had more time together, if we had the opportunity. When they were filming us, you all didn’t even have a challenge, I can’t help but think about what we could have done with that time. If we were able to let our relationship grow and develop, with that time alone together, we could have had more. Maybe even…”
“Even…?” Duncan asked hopefully, leaning forward without meaning to.
The implications were swirling in his head and once more he was remembering their cut off makeout session. Courtney just shrugged with a soft sigh. He leaned forward even more, pulse speeding up.
“We just would have had so much more time together and could have built up to much more than we’ve done… perhaps we would have gotten to third base.”
Duncan’s eyes widened immediately and his brain broke for a few seconds. He then caught on to her full meaning and the rage filled him. He slowly turned to face Harold.
“Perhaps we would have gotten to third base.” He repeated, voice almost a growl.
Harold only stayed in his seat for a brief moment before he tipped his chair in his escape. Duncan took off after him with Courtney only a step behind. A laugh was on her lips; it was slightly manic which only made Duncan love her more.
They rushed by Leshawna when Harold decided to try his luck inside and she joined the chase as well to attempt to save Harold from the couple's wrath.
Duncan gave Harold a black eye, Courtney ended up bruising his ribs which Duncan thought should not turn him on as much as it did, and Leshawna accidentally drew blood when her nails caught Harold’s cheek while she tried to haul Courtney off of him.
Duncan blocked Leshawna’s attack on Courtney and ended up getting kicked in the groin which Leshawna actually seemed apologetic about.
They were finally broken up by the producers and sent to opposite sides of the lodge to cool down. Harold and Leshawna were sent to his room and Duncan and Courtney were sent to her room. A few interns were stationed at a halfway point to make sure none of them tried to start anything again.
Duncan looked at Courtney as they walked. Her hair was messed up, her cheeks were red from exertion, and her clothes were rumpled, but he could see that look in her eye. The one she got when she won challenges, when she was proven right, the look she had right before she kissed him the first time. He never thought he could be this gone on someone but here he was, mooning over the uptight, future lawyer. He didn't have a single regret.
Courntey turned and saw him looking at her. She smiled as a small laugh escaped her.
"What?"
"Just trying to decide if I should call you my warrior queen instead of princess." He teased.
No way was he telling her what he was really thinking, not yet at least.
She laughed again and shook her head. They arrived at her door and she leaned against it.
"Call me whatever you want."
"Anything?" He smirked, stepping closer.
"Is this where you cheesily ask to call me your girlfriend?" She smirked back.
That earned her a blush so she knew she was right.
"Maybe." He shrugged, trying to play it off.
"Well then maybe I'd say yes." She shrugged in return.
He laughed and pulled her in for a kiss. She happily reciprocated, wrapping her arms around him.
He was the first to pull back.
"I gotta know, did you just say that stuff about third base to make me pissed at Harold?"
Her eyes opened wide, she hadn't expected him to see through her like that. It was her turn to blush.
"That's hard-core babe, fucking hot too." He assured.
He leaned in to kiss along her neck. She moaned softly as she arched into him.
"It wasn't all to make you turn on Harold. I probably wouldn't have said it out loud, but it was what I was feeling."
Duncan stopped kissing as his heart sped up.
"Yeah?"
"Yes." She chuckled and nodded, running her fingers through the soft hair at the base of his skull. "I like your eyebrow piercing and I might have been curious about what other piercings you had." She admitted with a smirk.
His heart went faster and he could practically feel the blood rushing down.
"W-well you could check for them now." He suggested.
"Yeah?" She asked and he was pretty sure by the playful cockiness in her voice that she was imitating what he said earlier but he didn't care.
"Yeah." He nodded quickly as she opened the door to her room.
She kept looking at him as she took a few steps backwards into the room. Like a magnet he was drawn to her, mirroring her steps so no additional space was between them.
"Ask me to." She finally said.
The playful part of her demeanor was gone but for some reason her just being cocky was super hot.
It did take him a moment to fully understand but when he did, it felt like all the moisture left his mouth and he nodded with big eyes.
"Please check me for other piercings." He requested obediently.
Her smirk grew as she took a step closer.
"Good boy." She praised before shoving him onto her bed.
Courtney pounced on him right after, attacking his neck and making him moan. Duncan managed to close the door by chucking his shoe at it.
Then it was finally just them, alone.
