Work Text:
Flint dropped down from her rope, scouting everything out. It wasn’t her first solo jaunt of retrieving an item, not in the slightest, but it was her first one on this particular World.
“All clear,” she muttered. The staircase into the building was sure to be locked, but it wasn’t going to trip her up at all, even if there was an alarm.
She knelt down to study the doorknob, already have found there was indeed an alarm attached to it.
Someone slapped something against the door, from directly above her. There was a beep and the door unlocked.
“Sorry about this, but I’ve been informed to get into this building.”
Flint looked up to find a whole lot of yellow in her space.
“Well, I don’t know who you are, but if the World Pirates have a claim on something, we don’t give it up for anyone,” Flint said, holding the door closed.
“Good thing I’m not anyone,” the woman said cheerfully. “If you’re going to hold this closed, though, guess I’m going to have to…” she took a running leap off the building, a little umbrella in one hand and a grapple hook in the other.
“What the hell,” Flint groused, finding that the door had locked again. “Damn it!”
She quickly picked the lock, knowing that she had to race if she wanted to get the item before the woman in yellow, not that she knew they were after the same thing, but she was pretty darn sure.
Flint went down the stairs as quickly as she could under the circumstances. Who knew what the woman was capable of? Scouting out the place beforehand hadn’t accounted for this.
“Hope you weren’t looking for this,” the woman called out, exactly what Flint needed in her hand.
“Okay, who are you?” Flint asked in frustration.
A card came whizzing at her, attaching itself to the wall.
“HEY!” Flint said angrily, ripping it out of the wall.
If the Lupin Estate says we need something, we get it -LupinYellow
“Wait, you’re a Lupinranger?” Flint asked.
“The one and only LupinYellow, pleased to meet you,” she said with a little curtsy. “You can call me Umika, if you’d like, since everyone knows our names now.”
“Cool, you’re a Sentai, what the hell could the ‘Lupin Estate’, whatever that is, use with that?”
Umika looked at the thing in her hands. “I don’t know, actually, but you know what, they helped us get back our loved ones, so,” she shrugged.
Flint growled in frustration, glancing at the walls and figuring out exactly where she could go to grab it out of Umika’s hands. “Well, you see, I need it for our ship.”
“Is that so?” Umika asked, watching Flint carefully. She hadn’t removed her mask, so it was hard to see her expression. Technology at work, for sure. “And you are?”
“Flint Goldsuiker, of the World Pirates,” Flint said proudly.
“Ohhhhhh…I’ve heard of you guys,” Umika said.
“Good! Then you know I’m…already gone!” Flint said, grabbing the technological marvel that Umika had taken.
“Is that so, little pirate?” Umika asked, zipping past Flint, Flint’s hands now empty. “Adieu~!”
“Oh it is ON!” Flint growled.
Flint had to admit that Umika was definitely deserving of the Kaitou title, for every time Flint got the item, Umika had it back in her hands in less than ten seconds.
“You know, I’m sure the Lupin Estate will let you have it once they’re done with it,” Umika said as she somersaulted over Flint.
“That doesn’t help me when I need it now , does it?” Flint said, running up the wall and flipping.
“I see your point, but unfortunately I have a reputation to uphold, you know?” Umika said thoughtfully.
“So do I!”
“Pirates vs Phantom Thieves…hmmm I’m not sure who would win, too used to going against the Police, after all.”
“Not my problem!”
“Perhaps not. Oh look, we’re on the roof, perfect! Kaitou Change!”
Flint snarled. “Change Twokai!”
Umika gave a delighted giggle. “Oh, a silver! Fun!”
Since they were now in their suits, Flint had no qualms about using her weapon, finding that Umika already had hers drawn.
“You’re quite good at this, little pirate!”
“Stop calling me that, you thief!”
“But that’s what I am! And that’s what you are!”
Flint cursed and rushed the Yellow Ranger.
“Okay, little pirate, I really need to go, otherwise backup will come and they will claim my win, you know how it is.”
Umika dropped her suit, taking her mask off as she called up a grapple hook from her mecha. “Adieu~” she said with a wink, revealing that she was barely older than Flint--and quite cute, in the two seconds Flint saw her before she was whisked away via mech.
“OH COME ON!” Flint said with a scowl, having sent the ship away several buildings away to make it less obvious where she was. An oversight, now.
“Until next time, little pirate!” Flint heard as the copter mecha circled and then zoomed away.
“Next time my ass,” Flint said with a grumble, crossing her arms.
As promised, here it is! I still don’t know what it does, but next time we meet, let’s be friends, yeah? -LupinYellow
“Friends, she says.” Flint gave the note card an eye roll. “Like there wouldn’t be a kabedon involved or something.” Flint gave the item she had wanted two months ago a shake. “Still, this will be useful.”
She got out her tools, humming, until she realized what she had said earlier.
“Oh my god, I need to stop reading Aniki’s mangas!”
