Work Text:
Hugh entered his and Paul’s quarters and heard odd but soothing music coming from the bedroom. He followed the music to its source and found Paul curled up in bed as he hugged a round pink stuffed animal.
“Paul?” Hugh asked tentatively to the man whose eyes had just drifted shut. “Everything okay? What do you have there?” The music seemed to be coming from the plush Paul was holding.
The sleepy scientist slightly opened his eyes. “It’s helping with my insomnia. It’s from an old Earth cartoon that Gray told me about it. Its singing is supposed to make you fall asleep.”
“Is it helping?”
“Not really, but it is relaxing,” Paul admitted with a defeated sigh and a slight yawn.
“What does Jigglypuff mean?”
“It’s their name. Apparently, they are only able to say their name or some variation of it. At least it’s squishy.” Frustrated, Paul threw the pink plush across the room, and the music stopped.
Hugh toed off his boots and climbed into bed with his partner. “Here, let me try.” He gathered his sleepy lover into his arms and placed a kiss on his forehead before he began to hum the same melody as Jigglypuff.
Hugh used Hum.
It was super effective.
