And I became hypnotized (by freckles and bright eyes)

Summary:

Everything about Jihoon is art, the kind that inspires writers to write non-stop poetry — Soonyoung tried, delivering his heart piece by piece in each envelope he put in his locker.

Now, with his identity revealed and being able to call Jihoon his boyfriend, he realizes that he will never truly stop being an admirer (even if it's no longer a secret).

Notes:

Hello
It's the first time I've posted on ao3 and also the first time I've posted something in English, as it's not my first language, so I'm a little nervous here
I want to thank JP (kwonlogist) for helping me translate my draft and Hana (foreversoonyoung) for offering to proofread the fic, I really appreciate it <3

Actually this started out as an attempt to get me back into writing consistently (and not just keeping everything I imagine in my head) but I ended up more satisfied with this cute little thing than I thought I would be, so... here we are haha
I hope you enjoy it!

Work Text:

Some things never change.

Watching Jihoon is a habit. From the way his dark strands spread across his forehead as he rests his head on his arms, to the way his lips part in a weary sigh.

"You must be dying to touch his freckles, right?" Soonyoung snapped out of his reverie when he heard Seungcheol's voice teasing him from across the table.

"What? I-"

"You can touch them, it's okay" Jihoon mumbled sleepily, not even bothering to open his eyes as he snuggled closer.

Soonyoung sighed, still a little amazed at the realization that he really could do what he wanted, instead of just imagining it. Gently, as if he couldn't yet believe the moment was real, he raised his hand tracing imaginary lines on his boyfriend's face and received a tight-lipped smile as a reward.

"What are you drawing, hm?" There's something besides sleep making Jihoon's voice even softer; the fondness overflowing from each word, as sweet as his favorite chocolate.

"The constellation of Sagittarius." The answer came out in a whisper, as if any change in volume would disrupt the moment.

Jihoon chuckled.

"That is my zodiac sign." A touch of amusement was added to his voice, and it was Soonyoung's turn to laugh softly.

"Yeah, I know. And now I'm drawing the constellation of Gemini."

Silence remained for a few moments – at least in the private bubble that wrapped them, as their friends continued talking – before Soonyoung was distracted by something even brighter than the stars on Jihoon's cheeks.

His eyes.

Soonyoung froze.

"You traced the constellation of my sign and then yours?" It was more like Jihoon was contemplating the information and less actually seeking some kind of confirmation, but Soonyoung nodded all the same.

The smile Jihoon flashed could light up a thousand planetary systems.

"You're cute, Kwon Soonyoung." The smaller man bit his lip, then giggled. "Really, very cute".
