ㅤKomaeda sits in a cafe, a cup of cold coffee is held in his hand and he’s awfully bored, but he has to wait. He heard his Naegi discussing a date with his girlfriend, Maizono Sayaka, at the cafe next to his house. Komaeda is more than fine with his darling dating whoever makes him happy, but he has to make sure that he’s safe. He does fantasize about working out some conditions with Naegi and knowing every detail of all his relationships, or just being the one Naegi is happiest with, but this will have to do for now.
ㅤKomaeda was an hour early, not wanting to miss a second of his Naegi’s time here. He had figured out where Naegi and Maizono were most likely to sit by using where Naegi normally sits in this cafe and other restaurants as well as Maizono’s preference to a quiet small corner so that fans can’t find her, and sat just out of sight from the two. He has even taken the little book that Komaeda writes about his Naegi in, so he can keep track of every word and movement to try and pry more into his head and to start on his girlfriend. Komaeda was prepared, and he got giddy seeing the start of the moment he had been thinking of for the past hour. The soft ding of the door is heard, and Komaeda turns around to see his beloved with Maizono, Komaeda also writes down their orders, and they go to sit exactly where Komaeda had planned.
ㅤKomaeda has to hold back a smile and pulls a laptop out of the bag he had brought with him so he looks normal and so he can look at Naegi easier.
Naegi tells Maizono of many things in his life, most of which Komaeda already knew, and Maizono tells Naegi more about her life and Komaeda writes every bit of it down. The two just make general small talk after doing most of the normal topics they already know about each other, and they leave quickly.
ㅤKomaeda leaves as well, but with a sick and rotten feeling in his stomach.
ㅤIt starts to rain as Komaeda walks down the road, which has to be his luck. He wonders if Maizono and Naegi walked or had an older classmate drive them. He hopes that his darling isn’t stuck in the rain, even though the thought of Naegi running to get out of the rain is a little funny and does make him smile. The smile drops remembering that it would be Maizono seeing that instead of Komaeda.
ㅤNaegi had never dated anyone, much to Komaeda’s confusion, but seemed to not care. Komaeda had always assumed that he didn’t mind Naegi dating anyone, as he didn’t mind when he got into a silly little talking phase or if girls showed any attraction to him. Even when Naegi started dating Maizono, Komaeda didn’t really take it seriously. Though, when he saw the two on a date he broke. He wanted nothing more than to be the one on the date with Naegi. He wanted to learn all those things about him through normal non-stalking means and seeing Maizono get along with him so well made him more jealous than he knew he could be. He wanted to be the one Naegi walks home and he wants to be the one that Naegi would get stuck in rain with, or, if Komaeda’s theory of them getting an upperclassman to do it was true, then he wanted to be the one watching the rain drip down the window with Naegi. It was simple, he wanted to be the one with Naegi.
ㅤHe knew that Naegi could never love someone like him though, so he’ll just watch from afar as he wishes he was the one that Naegi would brag about going on a date with to his friends.
ㅤHe’ll just lie to himself and stay he wants the best for Naegi, it makes him feel glad in the moment anyways.
