The sky was starting to pinken as the waves were now ever so slightly starting to waver down. The air dared to feel breezy, yet introducing a new mood to the atmosphere. It was something that could not be described. There was a type of silence in the air, where it was nothing but mere white silence, but for Puss, this serenity was a little bit more than silence.
It was gold.
More gold than the Road to El Dorado could offer, more gold than any leprechauns of Ireland could ever claim to be their own. Hell, it was even more grand than what the great King Midas would ever touch and what Czars could ever own. All the gold, the treasures and myths, in the world would never compare to this moment of relaxation. It was a time to rest his mind and settle things right.
However, with a golden silence, any thoughts that could come to mind, it would stain what peace it offered. Each of his nine lives, stained with irrepressible damage and foolishness of his youth. How foolish he was to think that once, he was immortal. Everytime he would boast about what he was able to do, only condemned him further. With every hit, drunken antics, and allergies that he was conscious of, just damned him. He even claimed that he was immune from Death himself and how many times he has escaped, only with this time, Death had just given him a warning.
Puss even wondered how many people he had hurt. His darling mamá and the fear in her eyes (yes, he has redeemed himself but with the years of not seeing her an was never able to escape that sadness in her eyes was something Puss never got out of his head). That he lost his brother, through multiple betrayals, only to loose him forever (now, the egg redeemed himself, but even when Humpty betraying him many times, there was something good in that huevo). The love of his life that he left at the altar, (well to be fair, she never made it either), but regardless, betrayed her trust and made a damage so grave, there was no words to fix it. This all sat with him. It stirred inside him as he looked up at the sky again. Its pinkish hue now turning into a palate semi blood red sky.
It reminded him of Deaths eyes. An abyss of hunger and blood lust that will eventually get anyone and everyone, but for Puss he didn't know whether to find it unsettling or stoic to this relation. He acknowledged the warning. He was coming... eventually.
"Huh, sky looks very pretty tonight."
He turned to see such diamonds staring at him. For a moment, it seem to replace the blood sky with diamonds that would sparkle for infinity. It was like if creation were to begin then and there. Just her eyes alone made his heart race like a teenager and a slight blush would automatically tint his whiskery cheeks. Puss in Boots was certainly not allowed to have such... intense feelings for a woman. Everyone was either a one off romance or one night stand, but Kitty Softpaws has proven that otherwise. She had managed to "tame" the suave womanizer.
"Why... err... yes it does." Puss remarked, looking the other way. "Certainly time for thinking, reflection, heists and adventure..."
"And myths and legends and blah blah blah. All that bullshit." Kitty finished, already knowing Puss' internal monolouge of adventure and what not. "You were sitting there for a while there Ginger. I left when we saw the coastline of Far Far Away to help Perrito steer the ship for a bit and you still sat there. I thought nothing of it, but I thought it odd for you of all people to just sit out there. Que tienes?"
Puss laughed, giving Kitty a smirk, "Just relaxing under a red sky. Waiting for the stars to appear."
Kitty shook her head, "Mmmm, there has to be something else. It's not gonna get dark that soon. C'mon. Dime lo amor."
The diamond eyes seemed to shine further and she gave him the same look that he saw at the River of Relaxation. A look of love and gold, where she can enter in him at any moment. He could see his own reflection in them as her irises would grow wider and even bigger.
"Do not use the cat eyes on me, Kitty," Puss playfully jabbed her arm, to which she yowled playfully. "Fine, I will tell you."
She smirked. It always worked.
"I... have committed lots of wrong doings. Reflecting on my life. Reminding myself of my dear mamá. I have been forgiven and now understand life now, but most things till feel... a little bare if I were honest."
Kitty nodded, semi understanding on what Puss was saying. Like she, Puss had many regrets and wrong doings, but unlike Puss, who's problems were based off of action, her problems were more on her insecurities rising and paralyzing her with fear on what she's had done to deserve such treatment. Everytime she tries to trust somebody, she got declawed, she got set up by one of the most dangerous hunters of all times, and betrayed by who she considered (although not outly) the love of her nine lives.
"What I have done, was wrong, especially for you." Puss said, and lifted Kitty's paws, locking them with his, his teenage glances, now turned serious. She was suddenly surprised by movement, as the great Puss in Boots, while the suave and passionate lover, who knew the path to ladies very, very well, was quite tender and held her soft paws like they were... treasure. Like she was a precious stone
No, I cannot be that delicate. He knows that for sure.
"Wow Puss, you really bringing in the tender charm hm?" Kitty teased, but Puss was not smiling.
"I am serious Kitty. I am not making any jokes. I owe you a infinite amount of apologies, but that will never make up for the years I have hurt you. You have done all this for me, despite despising me for half of that adventure. You, Kitty Softpaws, are a dangerous woman, capable of many talents, methods and loving capacities. I adore that in you."
Their eyes met slowly and their breathing matched together. Kitty brought her head down, but Puss took one paw off from hers and lifted her head up, meeting those diamonds once again.
"Puss..." She said, the name dancing off her lips.
"Kitty, like I said before, in this lifetime and in the rest we have together, having you with me, is all I could ever ask for."
He began to stand up and kneel on one knee. Kitty's eyes widened, and her chest began to heave slightly.
"I want to make this right for you Miss Softpaws. I don't want to push you into a marriage if you don't want to. That, you can propose to me like you did years ago. I only ask you that you join this old Gato for the rest of his life as his partner, best friend and love. I love you and want to cherish you. I want to make you the happiest woman in the world, the one others would envy when your name gets called. When I wake up, you are the first one I see and the last when I fall asleep. And..."
But before Puss could finish that sentence, Kitty leaned down towards him, their eyes meeting again. Her eyes shines brightly, and her cheeks tinted with pink, making Puss blush madly, but evertheless, it gave him a smirk.
"I assume that is a yes."
"Ugh you ruined it." Kitty groaned and he laughed. "All this romantic speech just for you to be right. Yes Puss. You pendenjo. I love you."
She gave a small kiss on his cheek, her smile wide as she laid her head on his chest, purring softly. Puss smiled, unclasping his cape and wrapping around Kitty, bringing them closer together and into each others embrace. They both soon felt a bump and the sound of Perrito next to them, joining their huddle fest. Soon, the three of then sat at the mast of the ship, all together in a small bundle.
Then Puss' eyes snapped wide open.
"Hey Perrito, who's steering the ship?"
